Pre-ordering with Best Buy

I agree. I'll be going today or tmrw and just pay outright for it. This is a lesson learned for me...absolutely no more preordering through BB
Bestbuy canceled my order last night, so I went into the physical store this morning when they opened and they can't upgrade my phone cause their system shows that I'm not eligible for a upgrade! Went to Verizon and bought a white Note 10+ 5G and a Galaxy Watch! Also got the FREE note 10. Bestbuy lost $300 today from me!!

I got it but have been working ever since then. Will update tomorrow on what went down.

Loving it so far, but have only set up essentials. Gonna be a while of digging in as I get "free" time.

Phew; just sat down for the first time in a while.

So yesterday I was like, "I know my order status just says 'processing' and the pickup date disappeared, and I'm super busy with work, but I feel like wasting some of my limited time by walking into BB and asking WTH is going on."

So they got on the phone with whoever. One of the guys said, looking at inventory, that I might not get the phone until Sept. 6th. While this was going on, a manager or someone came out with the exact phone I had preordered (black, Verizon, 256, 10+, 5G).

"So we have this one, but it's not YOUR preordered phone. We can try to get them to force this one into your preorder, but I don't know if it'll work. Do you have to be somewhere?"

"Yes. But give it a shot."

After being on the phone for a while, the BB guy (who was actually pretty helpful and worked through everything) said that the corporate people had started a ticket, and that they said it would be resolved "anywhere from a couple of hours to 5 days from now." We briefly discussed canceling my preorder and just buying the phone they had RIGHT THERE, and rolling the dice on Samsung accepting my original preorder email receipt for the $150. I was like, "Ummmm let me think about this for like 5 seco--" and then the manager said that the ticket had gotten resolved and they could sell me that phone as my preorder.

Got the phone, wiped my old one, and literally didn't take the phone out of the box or activate it until a couple of hours later when I got a little time (did I mention it was a busy day?). I pretty much only set up the email and work stuff that I really needed for my business, worked all day today, and have spent the last couple hours getting more things the way I want them (I decided to almost set this one up from scratch--basically just had Google bring in my apps and contacts, and then started from ground zero).

Anyway, I got my preordered phone, like it a lot, and all seems well. Just had to wait a week from launch date. Good luck if you don't have yours yet!

I DO have to say the people I dealt with in the actual BB store seemed very competent and helpful and did their best to work with what was probably a crappy situation dumped onto them. The guy I was working with was like, "If we cancel the preorder, I'll make sure you get all the trade in promo stuff through us and everything else EXACTLY like it already is--the only thing you're rolling the dice with would be Samsung, but I think you'd be OK there, also."

All worked out, in the end. But come on--how do giant companies like these biff something like a preorder, which they've coordinated on a million times before?

by screwing it up every single time. nothing has changed since my Note 8. still the same craziness and I decided not to play this time.

Thisis the first time I have had to deal with a massive screw up like this. I am heading too the Best Buy website to see if my review actually got posted online. Wehn my time comes to actually pick it up I will try and have a nice chat with the manager. They really need to just be honest and up front with us. I am a lot more forgiving with honest people. the people Who lie to my face will slowly feel my wrath.

Not a worry per se, but since it isn't my phone I'd like to make sure she is set up well. If it was my phone I know what I would do, change, tweak but since it is not, I'm not sure what she would want me to do.
I just want to make sure it is all working the way it should.

I just want to play with it!! But I can wait another week for mine to arrive :/

I totally understand that. I also get the anticipation for the new phone. Yeah definitely don't want to do anything she don't want you too but it is good you trying to help her:)

Hey guys as many of us are having this issue with our preorders of the note 10 and we're being kept in the dark and lied to...the media needs to pick this up and slaughter BestBuy and Samsung. I started a hashtag on Twitter...let's make it blow up in their faces. #whereismynote10

I just got my preorder today...after getting the email that said it would be delayed until September 29. BUT, as far as spreading the word, I sent a screenshot of the delay email into the tip line here, asking them to do a story on the Best buy fiasco. I'll never preorder through them again.

This happens with best buy every preorder, it's not news anymore, it's expected. As I've said before, if getting your phone in release day is important to a person, best buy probably isn't for you, just my opinion.

FWIW, 2 days after I was supposed to get my phone from BB, and didn't, I went to a different, but smaller BB store, and they had multiple colors in stock of the Note 10 for Verizon. They warned me that I wouldn't get the $150 Samsung credit if I cancelled my original order, and bought one in the store. I did it anyway - cancelled my original order and bought a blue Note 10+. I still was able to get the Samsung $150 credit, as I had my original documentation of the pre-order.

My pick up date was 8/23, then 8/30, & now I no longer have a date for pick up.

This is what I did....when I got the notice about Sept 29. I called my store. The phone was there friday. But they couldn't assign the phone to the preorder. So that was the issue. But...they did offer the option to come in...buy it outside of the preorder, and they would honor the trade in credit. Then....when you get the phone, scan in a copy of your original receipt and get the $150 samsung credit.

My Best Buy would not do anything, the conversation I had with a sales rep. was basically it is out of our hands for the time being and delayed for up to two weeks. So now I guess I might get my phone 9/6 if they are going by the last email I got stating my pick up date was 8/30. But worst case scenario is now 9/13. I am just hoping this screw up is not going to jeopardize our pre-order $150 with Samsung. Has anyone contacted Samsung about the concern of our pre-orders being botched form this problem?

You should be fine unless Samsung runs out of them, there's a limited number available.
