Preorders starting tomorrow? (Nov 29th)

any else notice before it said 52 smartphones and now it says 53 but there is nothing new on the site?

I agree with everyone else. It's really bad PR and marketing to have a silent release. But at this rate, next Thursday the Droid 4 will be released and then we'll all be saying that Verizon is trying to push the Droid 4 so they are going to delay the release even further. End result.....Don't hold your breath.

You realize most of the times they do not send anything until after it is launched? I never got anything about the thunderbolt until about a month later, bionic was about a week after and there are others who got the same thing at the same time. Droid 3 launched for preorder with no announcement until the next day.

I had already received my Bionic by the time I received notification.

I see 53.

As I said, when signed in it shows 52, when not signed in, 53.

The difference is the fact that BlackBerry? Torch? 9850 smartphone (Certified Pre-Owned) shows when not logged in, but doesn't show when logged in.

No Nexus tricks. Time for bed.

for me there is since I have to play musical accounts. My aircard is up for renewal. My other two lines are not. So I have always gone into the store so they can play the "screw around with the accounts game" to use the upgrade of the air card but transfer it to the phone line.

You can move upgrades around online...

I hate to ask such a DUMB question so late in the game in this thread... but can someone educate me on how "Pre-orders" work...? ... or point me to a link..?

When I got my DroidX on opening day... I was one of the boneheads that got up early and waited in the parking lot...then had the Verizon people configure and set it up for me..

Here's the other kicker... I'm an IT for 22 years (Servers/Engineering) and for the life of me I would have no idea what to do to begin to setup a new phone...xfer'ing the account over...and do what needs to be done as far as updates....and getting the phone "performance tuned"...

Is it as simple as... Pre-ordering online from Verizon...and making the necessary changes on the site..? any help or guidenace would be great... otherwise I'll be in the parking lot AGAIN with coffee and donuts....

You will get the phone, SIM card, and paperwork shipped to you in a box which you will probably get the day before the official release in stores if not before. There is a letter inside with the order number and you call it from another phone, give it your mobile number, it will ask you to confirm you want to activate the order number on file and agree to the terms and conditions. Will probably ask for your billing password or the last 4 of the account holders social security for verification.

This an LTE phone, pop in the sim card and battery power the phone up and when you get the the droid guy press him and wait for the phone to activate. When it does (takes about 15 minutes on an LTE phone) sign into Google, and then the other accounts you want. The setup wizard takes you through it.

Your old phone deactivates and your plan changes take effect once the new phone is activated.

** DO NOT dial *228 from a 4G phone as this step is not only unnecessary but can also mess up the phone **

I'm curious how the SIM card works if you buy the phone off contract. Does it still come with one? I have a Thunderbolt, and I was hoping to just be able to pop in my current SIM card, but with the Nexus using a micro SIM, that's not possible.

I've heard Verizon will send you new SIM cards for free (or at least, for only a small amount of money?), but that'd kinda suck to get the Nexus, but then not be able to use it for a few days until I get my new SIM card. :/

SIM cards are free from VZW yes. It is possible you will not get a SIM. If you order it over the phone tell the rep to add it to your order, otherwise call customer service and I am sure they can take care of it for you.

Will probably come with a new SIM card but just in case it doesn't hurt to ask someone

Okay... so I have to ask the obvious.... why would you NOT Pre-order online....?

If you can pre-purchase ahead of time, from the comfort of your house and have a guaranteed phone and probably receive it on or near the release date... is there a downside...?

If you get any kind of corporate discount like I do then it may not be applied if you order online.

You can do that through My Verizon now, actually.
