Real Life Battery life

While I don't have any problems getting through the day it seems like the 10 is going through the battery much more than my MXPE. Might not be, maybe I'm just more aware of it since the 10 has a usable battery percentage on the status bar.
My ten gets approximately double the battery life of my mxpe. 16 hours vs 8 hours

I'm coming from an s6 so this battery life is perfect for me. And it seems to be getting better. I keep location on battery save mode, turn off Google now, and my mails are on manual sync, and auto bright off, and keep it around 45%

Same here. My S7 drains ar about the same rate my Note 5 does in standby, despite the jump to Marshmallow (my Note 5 hadnt received the update when I sold it) and a newer gen chipset.

It's not awful, but I can get more than that gaming on my phone now. There's no GSAM for IOS, but if anyone wants screenshots for comparison I'll post them.

I love the phone, but my battery life is for ****. I charge it overnight and take it off around 7am when I leave for work. I am hardly on it at all, and am very diligent about making sure applications aren't running in the background. By 4pm, I've got only 30% left. It's awful - especially for NOT using it during the day!

(Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.)

same exact thing happened to my with my previous Galaxy S7, I wouldn't touch the phone for hours, all background refresh is off and doze is on for all apps, yet it drains like no tomorrow. That's why I bought an iPhone SE which lasts me 2 days easily or 3 days on low power mode. I was hoping the HTC 10 would have better battery life but it seems like Android phones suck when it comes to battery life no matter how big in mAH their batteries are. The iPhone SE has half the capacity of those bigger phones yet blows them away.

PS: This is coming from a person that hates iOS and the need to use iTunes for copying my stuff like songs and whatnot, but I am forced to use it as I can't be arsed to keep charging the phone all day long.

this is like using a Ferrari with only 4 of its cylinders, totally defeats the purpose of having a flagship phone.

A moderator on the NBR forums just posted this when I told him about my concern with the battery life:

There's a big bug in the current Broadcom driver in the kernel that causes massive power drain when WiFi is enabled. 2.5-3% per hour or so. LTE standby is like 1% or less.

It has an LCD so naturally screen on time is going to be affected. There also appears to be a higher power consumption with the Sharp display than the Tianma display.

I'm getting about double the battery life on my 10 than I did on my MXPE as well.

I'm getting almost triple the battery life I was getting in my M9. For example, in the morning I have a 30 minute drive to work. GPS( in high accuracy mode) would dispose of 12 percentage points. I wanted to test my 10 and it only took off three percentage points. And by the end of the day I would get home with 10-20% left on my M9. The 10, I'll get home with 45-60% left. So far, this phone is on track to beat out my M8 battery life.

I was just on a 2 hour Skype call (VoIP) from Dubai to the US and 15 mins on Facebook, battery life still @ 59% at the end of the day. Standby time is superb! loving this phone. This is with all my apps loaded.

I really am astounded at how good it really is!

Coming from a Galaxy S7, this thing's battery blows the S7 out of the water. I had to charge the S7 thrice a day. Using the same apps and doze active on all apps. Samsung phones suck battery in standby time like tomorrow if you have WiFi on. With this phone, I don't disable anything, I have location on, Wifi, only Bluetooth and NFC are off since I never use them.

When you say "Wi-Fi on" are you saying that it's on and the phone is connected to it while it's in standby mode? Or are you saying that the Wi-Fi is on but it's not connected, while the phone is in standby mode?

On and connected brah. Connected to an ASUS AC5300 Router

My battery life has gradually improved since getting the 10. I have a single app that seems to be a battery leech (recorded 1748mAh usage) which I have disabled for the next run.

WiFi: Off, LTE: On, BT: Off, Location: Battery Saver, 3 Email Accounts: Smart Sync, BBM: Connected, Auto-Updating: Off, Screen Brightness: ~40%, Auto-Brightness On.

De-Googled my device except for the Play Store and Photos. Use primarily MS/HTC apps for stuff.

My impression is that it is very good especialy whe paired with some quick charging though out the day. It does not seem as good as my s7 Edge but that has a bigger battery. I personaly don't have to have the absolute best battery life possbible. That is its just one of the criterias I use to pick a phone. Now a days with quick charging most of us can be a little more forgiving in the battery life column. Now if you have a job or a situatio that does not let you charge your phone for X amount of hours and the phone cannot make it thought X hours then that is another story.
