Received Official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA this morning

I force pulled it around noon today once the news hit the internet.
Got it on my 10th try, on wi-fi, and took about 20 minutes to download and install.

So much faster and smoother so far, still playing with it.

Does one have to turn mobile data off when trying the shortcut?

I don't think "checking for updates" works.
I think that option is only there if you have received the first notification of the update and selected to install it later.

Will someone who has the official non rooted update verify the toggle switch method for Wifi Hotspot tethering?

That's what the Verizon instructions say, so I presume it's a mandate and not an option.

im just curious. since im off wifi...will the update even show its there at all and waiting for wifi connection to commence or will it only pop up and notify me when im on wifi?

I presume it'll popup but be unable to download.

I tried to look for the "Force Update" mothod, but I either couldn't find it, or overlooked it. I know it deals with "Google Services Framework" Do I just clear the data on that?

More or less, yes. Check the first page or two.

Question answered. Mobile Data does not have to be set to off. Forced the DL, just now, with it on. JB, it's sweet candy goodness! Is the unlock area customizable?

The "trick" didn't work (repeatedly) for me on WiFi until I turned mobile data off. The trick then worked immediately.I don't think it is a coincidence.

I told you as soon as I swapped out my Nexus ya'll would get JB...I merely said it would happen on Tuesday, instead of Friday. Now the GS3 "software update" is offline, so I wonder what is coming to the S3?

I have what may be a dumb question, but I'm new to this stuff... I understand I need to be running "stock recovery", not Cyanogenmod Recovery, in order to receive the OTA. I bought my Nexus used from a nice guy who had it rooted already, but running stock. When I look at the About Phone, it shows I'm running build IMM76K and kernel version

Does that confirm that I'm running stock and that I should be able to get the OTA w/o issue? If not, what should I check (in addition or instead) to be sure I'm ready for the OTA? If I'm not at stock, then I should be able to use the WugFresh toolkit to get it back to stock, yes? Thanks!

hmmmm i guess well find out eventually. im still waiting :(

I gotta say that I'm kinda jealous of those getting Jelly Bean today. I've had it since June and remember the sweet feeling when I first used it. Kinda like a first date. Since it's been "every day" for 3 months I've been taking it for granted. I want the "first date" feeling again.

to everyone who received jb so far.....do tell!!!! how is it? is it as good as what everyones hyped it up to be?? figured to get more input now that more people have their hands on it.

its like for those who dont root/unlock, it feels like the outcasts in school and only the popular kids root/unlock so we only hear from one source :P

Still no luck here. A few more times and I'll have created an indentation on the part of the screen where the button is to check for updates!
