Rezound Official ICS Update Shelved?

From what I have been reading, it appears that rooting now a days is rather safe and very easy. It's not like how it was in the early days, where you had to have some sort of programming knowledge and skill.

Is their a way to root without using htcdev and letting htc know you are rooted?

No, but.... Why do you care if HTC knows? If you go all the way and s-off (which you should do) getting everything back to pure stock is pretty easy to get to. And please, please, please, don't tell be about warranty. There are many rooted Rezounds sent back, and zero reports of them being denied. Not saying if you send it back with ios4 loaded up they won't at least wonder what the hell you did.

And by the way.... HTCdev does not root your phone, it just unlocks it so you can.

So, I haven't been here in a while, but I was in Radio Shack tonight and it seems their computer system is telling them that the official update to ICS is available...now. I haven't been able to find it though. Can you guys confirm the RS is confused?

I have a letter from the President (Obama, not HTC's) that says, "Because of certainly racist hints from the HTC Rezounds first commercials, I have signed an executive order denying an official ICS update for the HTC Rezound."

Htc marketed this phone like I would market a boom box in the 80's....its efing stupid why they would not emphasize the screen.....no wonder they are going down the toilet

The Rezound is still a very solid and amazing phone. I haven't seen a phone that has come out that has caught my attention like the Rezound did. It's got a great screen, an amazing processor, the design is great, and its just wow still. While yes it does suck that we haven't gotten ICS yet. This doesn't take away from how great the phone really is =D

There IS a way over on xda to edit hboot after getting S-OFF and making it LOOK like the device is S-ON with a locked bootloader, but frankly, if you're worried about what happens if you return the device, you're wasting your time. It just doesn't matter.

I wonder if the OTA is taking so long because Verizon is still trying to cripple ICS functionality, like disabling / freezing it's bloatware?
