[ROM] - 1/28 - CleanROM GBE 1.6 - Base: OTA 2.01.605.11

Hey Scott, Now that the Kernel is included in your roms, can I try out an ICS rom then download this and after flashing this 1.6 back onto my device do a Nandroid restore of cleanrom 1.5 or 1.6 with all my data intact? All without even using cleanflash?

Im kinda confused by what you are asking?

If you are going from GB to ICS then back to GB then you would want to make sure to wipe data.

I think he's confused about your script to auto update the kernel on install vs AmonRa's ability to restore the kernel. So I'll try to answer for you.

No you can't jump back and forth from GB to ICS using a nandroid backup without re-flashing the kernel. Since we don't have S-OFF, nandroid will not restore the boot partition. What you need to do is restore your backup and flash the appropriate kernel.

Scrosler, will the instructions in your post #100 work if the ota was pushed to my phone or do I need different instructions?
Thanks

Does this update the radio firmware that I'm reading about? If not, is there a reasonable way to just flash the new firmware?

Yea... But no... It doesnt flash the radio. But you can easily do so. On XDA there is a ROM with a firmware thread. Dont have the link handy but its there somewhere.

I just did a full revert and then re-un-locked.

how do i install the clear status bar zip file?

Ummm... You need to have a copy of it and I pulled it from the latest release. You can find the old version here:[MOD] - 1/17 - Extended Quick Settings - Transparent and Standard! - xda-developers

But you might want to wait because I got something int he works for an updated Clear Status bar. The current version will revert you to the 4 Bar signal status while the new update has 5 bars and looks a little more sharp.

Assuming you are on stock ROM, yes. If you are on a Custom ROM no.

Ok, I have done everything step by step but when I get to step 7 on htcdev site I can't go any farther. I have tried every combination I can think of in the command prompt but nothing works. The files are in OS(C:), program files(x86), android, android-sdk, platform-tools. Can anyone please help me get past step 7?
Thanks

Never mind, just before I threw this thing out the window in about 2 feet of snow, I tried one more time and it worked... so now on with the rest of the process and see what happens

Braved the custom ROM world for the first time and good news is I'm now running CLEANRom 1.6.5 and so far so good. Scott, I don't know you...but I LOVE YOU MAN! In a manly kind of way of course...;o). Seriously, thanks for putting this together, and donation forthcoming.

Two things real fast:
1. Not wanting to stop at just 1.6.5, I'm trying to get the SP1 in as well but I'm running into something that may or may not be an issue. Of course, apologies way in advance if this screams newbie...=).

I went with Amonra and have both the 1.6.5 and SP1 zips on the SD card. After I pull the battery and go into HBOOT after I loaded 1.6.5, I expected to be able to go straight to "Recovery" and pick the SP1 zip and off I go. Instead, what's happening is that HBOOT shows me the main menu choices (including recovery) but then immediately takes me to a "Do you want to update?" VOL UP Yes VOL DOWN No screen. No matter which I choose, it does something and then makes me reboot as my only choice.

So, the issue is, I can't get to the Recovery menu option to grab the SP1 zip. Did I do something wrong during the main install of the 1.6.5 ROM that's causing this? Do I need to put the Amonra recovery back onto the device (root of SD card) in order to get to it again? Sorry if this doesn't make any sense or if I'm not describing it correctly.

2. I'm getting a Force close on "The application Google Service Framework (process come.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly...". Anyone else getting this, or will this go away when I move to SP1?

Any thoughts anyone could provide would be appreciated.

Shoot...never mind on the first issue...the PH98 file was sitting at the root of the SD card and thus why it was asking me to Yes/No update. I thought I had deleted it prior to doing the ROM install but...maybe not.

Still getting the second issue related to the FC on the Google Service Framework. To clarify, I have not loaded any apps other than defining my email accounts (1 GMail, 1 Hotmail, 1 Live, and one Exchange-based). Nothing else has been installed.

Move files to c:\android

Try again. Just make it easier on yourself heh.

Other than that a specific error that you're encountering would REALLY help, else we can't really answer such a vague call for help.

Not sure what you mean by "vague" as the message I provided is exactly what the message says. I'm given no other information to tell you about; the message simply said:

"The application Google Service Framework (process come.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly..." with a Force close button.

Regardless, I went ahead and tried the ROM install a second time...starting back at the Recovery clear caches/factory data and installing the ROM again. All went well but I do have a question that could be causing the issue above. I'm not sure I fully understand this part of the install instructions:

"When ROM is finished it will reboot to hboot to auto install kernel. WHen you get to hboot press power to install."

On the HBOOT screen, what exactly am I supposed to select and then press Power in order to initiate the kernel install?

Hope you guys can help. I got to the step where I try to download the code from my e-mail. It doesn't ask where to install it, it just downloads it in my downloads section, it doesn't put it with the rest of the files that are on platform tools. Can anyone guide me in the right direction.
Thanks

Sorry, I actually have no idea how I missed the larger of your two posts o.0

Anyway it's supposed to prompt you upon reboot; something to the like of "press power to install"

Was a while ago that I did mine, but it went that way for me. You just need to be at the HBOOT screen, which IIRC is Recovery -> Fastboot

Not sure why you got that message. Its not been reporeted before. But from what you said it stopped after a fresh install.

SP1 only modifies two small things to improve performance.

You may wish to start a separate thread for this.

Just installed 1.6. I have no Wi-Fi now.

Sounds to me like you did not install the kernel when it booted to hboot.

Reboot to hboot and flash the boot.img when prompted. THis is of course assuming you still have the PH98IMG.zip on your SD card.

I finally got it unlocked. Now on to the next step. Sorry if this was not the right place to post
