arhtard - another thing I noticed. Our phone doesn't like it when you compress "resources.arsc".

Looking into the apks you modded this file is compressed. Notice that framework.res (from UOT?) doesn't compress it and LG doesn't compress it either. This will likely solve some of the peculiar bugs some are experiencing.

hey aero
once i edited the android.services.jar file for the reboot/recovery power menu - i noticed twos was at 50% - and only sometimes
so in order to make sure that it wasnt a problem for everyone - i added the fix - for peace of mind
i'm currently working on a version with francos kernel and i'm starting from "scratch" with the original firmware - i will see how this goes
i did make a version based on the P500 - optimus one - firmware and the twos also appeared after adding reboot and recovery to the power menu - looking into why

i actually thought about just removing the power menu mod =(

did the edify version work out for you?

I just removed the fix via titanium. I don't see the bug.
Yes, the edify version flashed fine, however when I started restoring my apps via titanium things started to get a bit wonky. I'd restore the apps (not system apps), link them with a2sd, reboot and they'd be gone. I also get random FC of settings. Not sure what that's all about. Besides that, things are pretty smooth! I'll wait for your franco kernel versions

the franco versions are reworks from the ground up
and now, it appears i have turduckens help with some problems
so i'm hoping i can resolve these things so i can release
i would like you to reboot a couple times and check if TWoS comes back
thats when it showed up for me anyway - after a reboot
i'd reboot again and it would be gone
i really hate the bug and that app

No, no, don't be sorry, this is a great rom! I've flashed enough roms in my lifetime and these little bugs are just drops in the bucket compared to some of the other crap I've flashed, lol. I'm sure you'll have things ironed out in no time.

would it be better to decompile it, make changes, recompile, open with 7zip and drag the orginal resoursces.arsc back into the modded framework-res?

Make sure ALL files you've modded have an uncompressed resources.arsc. Don't copy the orig back in, pull the edited one out and put it back in uncompressed. This is the cause of Settings FC.

You shouldn't need to compile/recompile unless you're looking to make changes.

The values and strings in android.policy.jar and framework-res.apk must correspond... see the tutorial I linked to above.

ok here are the links to the V3 versions:


acbk - V3s is your version - stock kernel - its set at 320/600 ondemand by default
remember you can't overclock the stock kernel

Well i tried this version but result is same. Actually i don't care about using SIPDriod. I am fine with VoxMobile working. So don't worry about it.
Awaiting the new ROM you mentioned... I like few things you mentioned about it...

ALL apks that you've modded should include an uncompressed copy of the "resources.arsc"

The image on the left is your lge.apk - compressed

The image on the right is your lge.apk the way it should be - uncompressed

I use winrar it asks you what compression level to use before placing it in the apk. Drag the file out of the apk and into another apk and then drag it back into the original again.

No need to recompile, it's drag and drop.

7zip may not offer this.

Drag and drop is great if you're just replacing pngs. In fact it's preferred, just zipalign them afterwards (The kitchen will do it for you).

Grab winrar it's payware but it's the best. You'll also be able to alter compression levels of each file when replacing pngs.

ApkManager is fine AutoAPKTool has the same prob if I recall.

EDIT - AutoAPKTool is a PITA don't bother with it. I like it but I'm a sadist :-\

Not exactly. Many of the XMLs are in the res folders in binary format. Why our phone freaks out with a compressed resources.arsc I don't remember but it affects several diff phones. It causes FC boot loop and freaky stuff.

Fix this compression issue and then see what happens. Don't worry about other probs until you resolve this one, it's a biggie.

The power menu is a combo of the two edited xmls in framework and the modified dex in android.policy.jar.

the new rom is complete!!

all the kinks are worked out - everything matches perfectly
this is gonna be the first and final version - shouldn't be a need for any changes
made a themed version with darktremors app2sd mod and a themed version without the mod
made a unthemed version with the darktremors app2sd mod and a unthemed version without the mod

i'm pretty happy with the results and am uploading the 4 rom files now - will be a few hours
decided to make all edify script versions since the only 3 recoveries available for this device support edify script

i owe a big thanks to turducken - for his wisdom and tips
couldn't have made it thru the bumps without him
thank you for pointing out francos kernel - its perfect

i'm going to bed for a longgg time now - lol

Kool - alot has happened in the last few days - here, let me bring you a cup of coffee !! 2 of the roms did keep my "back" button from waking up the phone and both those roms seem to have wifi CALLING issues, not wifi data connection. Some of that may have been my fault for not doing a complete sd wipe. This time i'm ready to wipe ALL data - lol. THX again for the best of the 4 Roms that i can utilize. Can't wait for the latest - final version - see you in a few hours - coffee is on the way !!! BIG THANKS AGAIN !!!

It's all good. We really appreciate your hard work. The wifi problem was noticed here as well - one of the kernels would not allow my wifi calling to connect, but it would connect to the internet to d/l. rebooting seemed to rectify. Had me going crazy with 2 new routers, 2 bad ethernet cables and new roms - akkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. We will be patient , release it when it's ready (i'll be checking every hour) - lol. Clockwork does have a built in option to switch to the RA backup. We are waiting & watching................meanwhile got to check my salmon on the smoker ---- all this anticipation is making me hungry

well good morning

i woke up to some problems
first - phone was off - so i turned on and enabled a logcat
also - phone was at 320/600 ondemand when this happened
rebooted a few times etc - nothing showed up - so i was about to post links
thought i would try wifi connection and calling - phone would reboot everytime i enabled wifi
replaced kernel with stock kernel - everything appears fine
replaced stock kernel with miks kernel - everything appears fine
i am unable to use wifi now - landlord locked me out of the router - so i have NO way to test wifi connection now.
it enables without reboot now though - with stock kernel and miks kernel only

so this is leaving me with two options for a kernel :

1) use miks oc kernel - from the previous rom
2) use stock non-oc kernel - leave the kernel option up to the device owner

i'm also noticing a difference in storage capacity with using amend and edify script versions
about 90mb less with edify
amend with d2asd shows 191mb avail after install - with edify and d2asd it shows 101mb after install
i will have to rework edify script before i release regardless of the kernel.
i choose amend script because its the default in the rom kitchen
unfortunately 2 out of the 3 recoveries for this phone support amend+edify
clockwork is strictly edify
the kitchen does have a built in converter that i use - but as you can see, the differences are major

i COULD release what i have now - but - that would mean additional releases right after
having to reinstall everything over and over would aggravate me if i was you

so this is the current situation
i do apologize and am working hard on solving things

Let me know if you need a guinea pig. Probably have some time tonight. I use wifi, bt, groove ip etc. so i can put it through it's paces. I don't use darktremor though, prefer link2sd.

Wow, that's a lot. I'm certain francos kernel isn't the issue.
No other chef has had these issues. All your tests include your modded apks and weirdness appears in every one.


**Starting from scratch - no mods tweaks nothing. Starting over!**

1.
Include francos kernel AND modules
Build as you normally do and test.
If all is good go to #2 - If not debug or report

2.
Building from #1 introduce framework-res.apk and android.policy.jar
Build and test.
If all is good go to #3 - If not debug or report

3.
Continue the above procedure introducing 1 modded apk at a time.

4.
If all is good after all modded apks have been included
Building from #3 include a2sd and tweaks
Build and test.
If not debug or report

This is how you narrow it down.
