Updated my OP to indicate that TWRP is the prefered recovery.

Sorry guys, I really thought everyone knew not to use CWM yet. Thats why jon posted to use twrp in his recovery / root thread.

Same mistake anyone could have made because the unlocker asks you to download it. But now I see why they say dont use CWM.

I have been running the clean rom since yesterday and I have been putting it through the paces and to be honest it seems faster than the straight up official stock release. It may very well be as simple as my car feeling like it runs better after a oil change . So far it works great with no issues other than the ones I was having with the straight up stock non rooted version and that can only be placed squarely on the original authors so well done, Thanks!

Edit: Unlocking of the stock hotspot, awesome :-$ sent

I went ahead and switched recoveries.

I think I figured out what I did wrong. I clicked on the wrong download link last night while drinking. I downloaded the file directly to my phone from the mobile forums. Long story short-Drunk people should not download files by clicking on tiny links with big fingers. I got lucky, this could have turned out MUCH worse.

Sorry guys, at least this whole mistake convinced me to change recoveries

And techincally, it is faster than stock due to all bloat removed. You get an extra 70 to 100 megs free. That memory were all processes inthe background to "monitor" and "log" you (yes I am serious).


Also: what stock ROM issues did you have? Just curious...

ok after some time, jondevere was able to help me out and recover everything and get everything working ok and also install TWPR recovery and am back up and running!

Yes. What I actually flashed was the 3d mod over the stock ROM.

Just be glad it was fixable! In my days, I have seen things go wrong... Terribly wrong. I thought I knew my ****... But HARD BRICKED my optimus S last week and had to replace it. So dont feel bad... no one is perfect.

Just a PSA for anyone flashing custom ROMS on a regular basis not to mention update zip files for additional ROM features and such. As of now Rom manager isn't available and if you like to go directly to recovery from your home screen quickboot works well to get you there in a hurry. This is the free link in the market, I upgraded to the paid because I feel it is important to support the hard work and time Dev's put into improving our ecosystem.

No thank you, seriously, the work is greatly appreciated. As far as my stock ROM issues the screen will intermittently lock up after taking a picture. I could arrow back to the home screen and use other apps but the phone would be slow and if I went back to the camera it would be stuck on the last photo taken. To fix I had to reboot or go into- Menu/SD & Phone storage//Make more space/Clean cache/All applications- When going into landscape the screen touch calibration gets wonky sometimes and is off by about a quarter of an inch. It then stays stuck that way on any screen incuding the home screen, on our phones that is frustrating when trying to click on a link in a browser> The fix is the same as above. When uploading or downloading anything (Photos,XML files, ETC) after the process is complete when I pull down the drop down notification bar the "Clear" button is not visible but the function still works when you tap in that upper right corner. There are e few others that will come to me (Getting old)
Just finished flashing 1.1, love the battery percentage. For me these are all the little tweaks that make a good ROM a great ROM, thanks again.

FYI I am using Clockwork with cleanrom with no issues at all, and I have never ever had any problems with clockwork with my OG EVO. I have seen a whole bunch of people knocking Koushik Dutta's work in the past and it pisses me off. From my experience using his work, the dude knows his shiat.

I'm on 1.4. I didnt feel you where getting down on Koush, actually you seem pretty "Politically correct" on the subject, something I should practice more often I understand what you are saying about Clockwork, it seems to be more of a XDA thing anyway (Bashing Koush) but it trickles over into AC from time to time. I am not saying other people are not having trouble with Clockwork but how many times have you seen someone complain about a ROM or function only to have them admit later that they tried flashing from the phone in a dark bar with a blood alchohol level of ????? Ahem just poking fun newboyx and yes I am on Clockwork and my phone is working great

Thats the other known issue with stock ROM.
