Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

That is a problem that this phone has had on all roms, even stock. I still get it sometimes with Reborn. For some reason a dirty flash (wipe nothing) of the Rom again seems to pretty much fix it.

Yeah, I see it but not very often.

Okay, I have my Optimus S rooted with z4 root, and I have Xionia custom Recovery, but I have Baseband Version V9. Am I able to update it to VD being rooted and All, is there a safe way to do so?

V9? Wow... well... I dont think root would cause an issue but the recovery would for sure. There are some threads on here that will help you or you can read my thread on ppcg: [HOW TO] Return to 100% Stock ROM and Recovery! - PPCGeeks

it will work by applying the official LG image for VD. you will keep /data but it will restore everything else. Then root and reinstall recovery.

Okay, Cool, thank you. But before I try that, do you see any reason why the processs at the following link wouldnt work?

Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

I am confused... 1.0a is an update to 1.0 here?? I am accustomed to alpha releases preceding final releases. [head shake] If that is the case, could you please update the md5sum in the first post to match the current version?
I keep getting the following and hoping it is correct:
Code:

Thanks!

Just a few requests, can you please add the quick boot options to the power down menu? Most custom rom have this setup. My evo does and my hero did too. As another user stated, can you do away with the clear notification background? And is there some other battery icon that can be put in that gives you the battery percentage while still charging? That's one of the little features that although small, is invaluable.

Thanks and good work. This phone I just got for my son. It's no Evo but it's no slouch either. Keep up the good work.

+1 to these suggestions.

Also, the font on the battery icon with the percent remaining is difficult to read when discharging, too. I would love to see that fixed, too.

This is a great ROM for folks who really want something that is better than the stock and still maintains the functionality. This is the only one that has the best of both worlds with the keyboards (Swype and Gingerbread) and has both music players so the user can decide between the laggy google one and the stock.

Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

Just flashed this rom on my wife's phone. Seems to be much snappier and it working great. Since this is on my wife's phone do I need to make sure she doesn't install any ota firmware or os updates? What should I keep an eye out for so she doesn't accidentally let the phone do something it shouldn't ;)

Nice work.

If you have a custom recovery and rom you should never accept ota updates.

Always happy to help, hit that thanks button if I did!

Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

I love this rom. It's extremely stable (only one reboot & i'm pretty sure it was Google Maps fault) and very smooth. I have yet to notice lag when typing texts, a big complaint of mine with the stock rom. Also, I went from 20 mg internal memory free with stock to 90 mg with sROM. Fantastic job!!

Requests for new version:

1. I'd love to see a more color, as both the notifications menu & pattern-unlock menu are grey. Also, I'd really like for the notification menu to be much more translucent. Currently it's too too transparent which makes it very difficult for me to read action items over the background wallpaper.

2. I also agree with other poster that the battery life meter is difficult to read. Personally, I'd prefer the stock battery life (that doesn't show the %). If you must show it, though, perhaps the one that shows the % with a colored ring (green, yellow, red--depending on battery life left)?

3. Is the Sense Clock app (& widget) buggy, or is it just me? Most of the time, it won't open the forecast when I click on it. Hopefully the app was updated & the updated version can be included in the next sROM version.

Thanks again for creating (and developing) this ROM!!! :)

We have some themes available for this Rom you could try that might suit your questions #1 and #2 needs.

Just be sure to make a recovery backup before flashing.

I cannot get the LG Updater tool on the computer to work with My Optimus S, can anyone tell me how to do so?

Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

I have a quick question for the developer:

I can't figure out to make text messages & calendar alerts use my notification ringtone, without also allowing Gmail to also use the notification ringtone (aka I want Gmail to be silent, and just notify me in the Status Bar). I'm not sure how I did it, but I know I was able to do this with Stock ROM. Is this a glitch, or is there a menu to do this that I'm missing?

Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

Great ROM overall but I have noticed one small issue as well. About once per day I get the notification that updates are available. So of course I click it and check to see which application needs to be updated....none of them do. I have specifically gone into every application and verified it is using the most current version. For some reason however the "Updates Available" notification always pops up.

The issue might be with the Gmail app itself. I could have sworn that you used to be able to go into the settings menu inside Gmail and change the notification ringtone. This can still be done with accounts found under the regular "email" app however I don't see the option in Gmail. Maybe i'm just remembering incorrectly though and Gmail never had that function lol.

Great news...I found the fix on another thread!!!

Here's how to fix the issue:

Click on your Gmail icon.
Press "Menu"
Select "More"
Select "Settings"
Select the email address you'd like to change (eg yourname@gmail.com)
Select "Lables to Notify"
Hit the dropdown arrow next to "Inbox"
Select "Ringtone" and then select "Silent".

Re: [ROM] - sROM 1.0 - 7/29/2011 - Speed, Style and Functionality

I just tried this ROM out and most say its a great ROM, fastest I have seen yet and the most stable, but I have a few issues.
1. Home button does do anything, which was annoying
2. I couldn't get the market nor gmail to work. It asked me to add an account, but crashes no matter what I hit. Then I tried adding my account through the account & sync in the settings, but after adding my email and password, it went to a screen asking for domain/email and no matter what I put it wouldn't sync.

After 6 weeks of over 600 downloads you are the first person to ever report anything like this...

Home button works fine as well as Market and Gmail. Sounds like you should do a full wipe and re-install the ROM. Something didn't go right. Almost sounds like an old /data/ partition.

Did you do a full wipe before install?
