[ROM] Android Open Kang Project- Jelly Bean Style

so i downloaded and clean flashed the Aug 10 release... this just doesnt seem stable to me, it periodically reboots, and doesnt feel very buttery. kinda losing faith in AOKP here - the ports seemed far more stable and fast, and i cant imagine why a source-built ROM is so underwhelming.

I have tried 2 AOKP builds and was not at all impressed with either. I will say I did have better luck with Euroskank's than the other but I still had some hangups and random reboots. Keep going back to Skank's CM10. Best ROM I've tried.

I've tried twice to flash skank to no avail. Kept saying installation aborted. But the latest aokp isn't bad. Flashed just fine as usual

That is so weird. Did you try flashing it with TWRP, or just CWR?

Might be your own phone hating the kernel or something. Runs exceptionally well with franco kernel.

I'm on skank now with stock kernel and very happy. Plus I'm on twrp now so not sweating the broken restore :)

Any opinions on lean kernel? Looks like there's a stable release out there...is it for jb?

I use lean kernel and it has been great for me. I get awesome performance, and better battery life than any other kernel I have tried.

Same.. Tried it a couple times between Jan to maybe March and it just never did right on my phone, was always laggy.

Man what is up with Team Kang? They have not done so hot with JB so far.

Preview 7 ran great for me, but since it was lacking many of the custom features I want,I switched to Euroskank. I'm about to load up Paranoid Android now cause it seems to offer the most options out of the current crop of roms, but I would love to go back to aokp as soon as they get all their features put back in.

I tried to think of something witty, but this is all I could come up with.

Its almost as though they aren't doing a team effort... there are builds by individual devs, with their own issues... its as though they're just doing their own thing.

They blew their wad on ICS. :p Seems that way for a lot of devs out there. Hey ITs Lou, Team Gummy, etc.

They have yet to officially release a build. These are all previews--not actual builds. They are compiled by random Kang team members and randomly thrown up for grabs.

Heck, you can compile it yourself ;).

Right now, I'm withholding actual judgment until a real build comes out. Considering they're one of 2-3 groups that does awesome, original coding, I think they deserve that much, at least from me. :p

See above!

Also, they're changing stuff all the time on their gerrit. It's certainly a team effort, however, all we usually see is one guy/member release a build.

Meh, Gummy disbanded. JB is tricky and the ones that are succeeding are (1) CM10, and (2) people that use CM10 as a base or keep it bone stock. It happens lol

Looks like a new nightly got released - 8/13!

Flashing now :).
