[ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.5.5 [Full Open Source]

This ROM/kernel is running great! Noticeably smoother and faster than previous versions.

I do have an odd situation. Flashed everything (after a full wipe), all is well. Flashed Nova launcher (version 13) and restore screens, all is well. Update to Nova 14 (installed as a system app), my Google Maps, Google Navigation and Google Placed disappear from my phone. They are not in the app drawer and the icons for them on my home screens turned into green android dudes that do nothing when clicked. Has anyone seen this or no how to fix it?

I know one thing I could do is re-flash the gapps, but my question is, if I do that, do I need to re-wipe data, or just clear cache/dalvik, or shoudl IO just reflash the whole ROM with a new data wipe?

I did post this over on rootz, but it's getting lost in the excitement.

Looks like there are some issues with Gapps on 1.4.0. There's some discussion over at RW:

[AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.4.0 [Fully Open Source](02/15/12) - RootzWiki - Page 613

Unfortunately, 1.4.0 removes the option to resize the homescreen using the built-in launcher. On prior versions, I removed the search bar and had five rows of icons on each screen and really liked the option. I may try using Nova Launcher with 1.4.0 after the Gapps issues have been cleared up (and when I have some more time), but for now I'm going to restore my nandroid of 1.3.3.

Well, what I'm wondering is why Maps, Places and Navigation disappeared after moving from Nova 13 to Nova 14. All my gapps stuff was fine, just those 3 apps gone after my Nova update.

Why, and what to do to resolve?

Those apps were definitely there after you flashed 1.4 but disappeared after you updated nova? From your homescreens, app drawer, or both?

GAPPs UPDATE

New Gapps package (to be added to OP shortly): Goo-inside.me Downloads - Downloading gapps-ics-404-020516.zip

Everything you guys were missing should be there, and you should keep the camera from the ROM, etc, all should be good now.

YES you should do a FULL data wipe and reflash the ROM, then the gapps, then reboot. Sorry.. but if I've done it a half dozen times this week you can too :P

Btw credit Blueharford for putting this together real quick, all I did was nag him and test it ;)

They were there after flashing ROM, then disappeared only after updating from Nova 13 to Nova 14. Don't worry about though...I'm just going to re-wipe, re-flash it all and NOT update to Nova 14.

I flashed this new rom, updated the gapps. Went in and ran TI backup to restore apps, etc. Now I am getting Unfortunately, CNDLauncher has stopped message and I can't get it to go away. When I push the home key, it goes into that message and all i can do is hit the ok button. I have rebooted and it still does it. Any help?

Thanks
Bryan

Did you do a FULL wipe of data before installing the ROM? Flash the gapps I posted directly after the ROM, then reboot?

Restore ANY system data, or only user app/data with TiBu?

Yes, I wiped everything except the davlach or whatever that thing is called. The ROM installed fine, then I installed the gapps with no problem. When I did the restore system and user data from TiBu that is when I started getting the message.

Maybe that was a typo, but if you restored both user and system data then that is probably your problem. Only restore user apps and user data, no system data when flashing a new ROM.

So should I do a wipe and then start over reflashing the ROM and gapps again? Was hoping there might be an easier solution....

Sounds like you restored a system setting.. you would either need to switch launchers or wipe and reflash the ROM again. Do you like Nova Launcher? ...it's basically the same as the stock but with more functions.

Problem is that I can't get to the settings to go into the market to get the app. I am sure I screwed up a setting in there somewhere. If I could get to the market icon I would download the Nova Launcher and see if that fixed the problem.

Never, ever ever ever ever EVER restore system data :)
Yes you should do a full wipe and reflash. Live and learn :)
