[ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 3/9 zvd only

Re: Successfully installed CM7, but most of my music is unplayabl

I had this issue with another ROM and it turned out to be just a bad write from the PC. I deleted the folder and recopied, this time not rushing to disconnect the USB and it worked fine.

I tried this, but no joy. FTR what I did was to clear, but not delete, the Music folder on my Optimus and then recopy all my subfolders into it from the music folder on my computer. This sounds slightly different from what you did, but would that make a difference? I'm considering using the Double Twist synchronize tool, but I'm really trying to avoid doing that; it seems to dump half my music into the "Unknown Artist" category.

I'm not sure what coding they were though. You might also try clearing the data for your music player(s) so that it rebuilds. I hope that helps.

I'm trying this now.

ETA ~20 minutes later: This didn't work; the library simply no longer shows the WMA files.

ETA ~About an hour later still: Downloaded Winamp, and it doesn't play those files either. Curiously, though, I did briefly play one such file before it stopped working on them altogether. The WMA-extension files do not show up in the Winamp library either, which now tells me I have 37 albums. Thirty-seven!! That includes some podcasts, midi files, and other content which was directly downloaded onto the device. This means that, really, only maybe 20 of my 100+ albums on the PC are showing up. Really a bummer, and there doesn't seem to be a way around it other than reverting to stock and trying another ROM that will stay in zvd.

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

My battery has been draining pretty quickly and I did some testing and basically this is what I have observed:

With wifi OFF and bluetooth ON but not connected to anything and leaving the phone sitting completely idle for 8 hours:
With the totally stock LG ZVD ROM, the battery drops from 100% to 99%.
With CM7 (1.16.2012d-cm7.2-IHO-Kraven-signed.zip AND 2.7.CM7.offline.charge.booting.bootimg2.zip), the battery drops from 100% to 71%.
With CM7 with bluetooth off, it uses much less power.
I tried the XioniaRedux-08312011-signed.zip kernel and the results were the same for CM7.

In both of these cases I did not install any apps or change any default settings, just installed the bare ROMs. Is there anything else or any weird setting I can check that may be using up power? I don't understand why CM7 is using up so much power when bluetooth is on but isn't doing anything. I know that in general having BT on will use more power but this seems excessive... I was thinking there was some sort of setting for how frequently bluetooth scans for devices or something like that but I haven't been able to find any info from googling around...

try poweramp, i think it does software decoding of wma. Wma just isn't supported with stagefright. I read something about it would need to be open source with CM7 and not proprietary like wma.

When I open BT settings in settings app, I see it scanning often trying to find my two paired but off headsets.

I'm not certain if the OS has the same issue with headsets as the OV. If you cannot use hands-free wired devices like car adaptors without enabling the speaker phone, mrg666 found a workaround to try:

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.idunnolol.headsetblocker

Place the widget on your desktop, and when you want to use a wired car adaptor, toggle via the widget and you should be able to use the mic without enabling speaker phone!

Thanks mrg666!

I'll give it a shot.

To the community at large, and because I notice that a new version of the ROM has been released, how do we upgrade from one version of CM7 to the next? The baseband is now "unknown" and the OS version is now Gingerbread--i.e. no longer "ZVD only". Is the general procedure to first revert to stock, re-root, and install the newer version of the custom ROM?

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

ZVD is just the baseband. You have to use ZVD for CM7, which is Gingerbread.

Some people can just "dirty" flash to upgrade, which is just wiping cache and dalvik, then flashing the upgrade. I have to do a full wipe, dirty flashing causes issues after a couple of reboots. Full wipe instructions are on the first post.

This rom is not to be confused with the cm9 beta also in development. This is a zvd only rom, and cm9 is zvh only rom both on different radio images.

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 1/16/2012 zvd onl

How goes that script testing?

This looks like might work for the bt mac address. Issue 4210 - cyanogenmod - Harmony Bluetooth Address is showing as incorrect - CyanogenMod Android ROM - Google Project Hosting

Option one would be to make another boot.img with a random different number so both can pair.

Option two... If you want your real bt mac address, you will need to grab it from a sprint based rom, pm me and i'll add it into your boot.img

Adding this commit to the next build. https://github.com/mik9/android_system_bluetooth/commit/8c7837b51e3bf1c5195fe22fd053fa31c862b219

I'm still having problems with telephony (no service), but it appears to be linked to data2ext. Twice, I upgraded and restored apps, then installed d2e and lost service after the second boot after d2e. I have also upgraded and reinstalled apps and NOT lost telephony, even after 10-12 reboots (no data2ext).

I followed instructions on installing d2e, including formatting my ext partition.

I can live without data2ext, but I thought you might want to know about any issues.

I use data2ext too and I haven't lost my telephony on the 02/07 build. However, I used to have that issue on 01/16. thekraven recommended that I go to Recovery -> Advanced -> Fix Permissions. I did that and haven't had that issue since.

I remember you asking about updating to zvh, did you? If so did you revert to zvd before reflashing cm7. If you are sure you are on zvd, then perhaps it is due to not fully wiping before returning to cm7. Zefie's debug-FORMATsystem.zip should always be flashed before flashing a new rom.

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

Hi Guys, I just had the same problem. I did a clean install of 2/7 (wiping everything and debug-FORMATsystem.zip, etc..) and everything worked except placing or receiving phone calls. I fixed the permissions and I can now make and received phone calls.

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

i'm staying on ZVD until data is up on cm9 (if possible)
but thanks, it was a bad flash....

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

OK, tried fixing permissions, still lost telephony. I'll try a completely fresh install this weekend.

That's the truly confusing thing to me. When I had that issue, even a full fresh flash didn't help at all. I don't know exactly what the permission fix does but it was the only thing that helped me. I'm guessing though, since it didn't fix your problem, your issue is different.
