You definitely will be saying goodbye to cm7 if thekraven's alpha 5 is as good as tdm's alpha 7... I'm not looking back with tdm's awesome update

Any update on MMS with Alpha5? I could see I had an MMS on Alpha4, but could never download it.

So, the new ROM is packaged with GingerKernel; do you still suggest flashing Drew's iScream kernel?

i did. reboot, and it should be better.

however, once I had WiFi, i disabled it when I went out for lunch and cannot get data back for the life of me.

dirty flashed, made no difference.

trying a fresh install to see if i can keep data this time.

Yeah a reboot did the trick. Thanks.
With the data try turning on airplane mode and then back off. That's worked for me.

I have, like a thousand times, over many different reboots. I have wiped fully and reflashed. Still no data. wondering if we are out around here.

another thing you might try if you haven't already is going into data usage and toggling mobile data off then on

I have. Just nandroided back to CM7. data works perfectly. wondering what the heck is going on....

Technically, it's iscream plus a few changes . If you flash iscream, you might lose some functionality of data reporting fixed in the new kernel and wireless driver. Also keys will be mixed up. So just stay with the builtin kernel till it gets incorporated

1. Full wipe.
2. Installed alpha5 ROM.
3. Installed updated alpha5 boot image.
4. Installed latest small gapps.
5. Set notification area icons; rebooted.
6. Airplane on/off, data off/on. Logged into Google, downloaded app in Market.
7. Data off, wifi on. Connected, downloaded app.
8. Data on, wifi on. Rebooted.


Trouble setting my wallpaper with Gallery; every time it gets to the "Crop" stage, it doesn't want to display the image I selected. I'm restoring several of my apps from Titanium Backup without app data. The few I restored with app data don't seem to be suffering any, though. Wifi is slow & go in spurts, but generally just fine. No "sync" icon in status bar while my Google Music account synced up.


This is a serious improvement, and one that I bet I'll be able to use as my day-to-day without much frustration. Kudos!

Edit:

• Google Play Music FCs every time I try to play a song over wifi AND/or 3G. Cleared up after a reboot and enabling "cache music".
• 3G connects, drops, connects, drops for no reason, and I'm talking "phone in the same location & position on the desk" no reason.

Internal storage is ginormous! Restored all my cm7 apps and still have room. Everything works. Running until something breaks. I am stunned how well it works.

For those with Play Store issues, I'm seeing reports all over (Twitter, FB, AC, xda) that Google is having issues.

Just flash the one without google apps..

I have the old zip of g'apps (the large one) if anybody needs/wants it.
