[ROM]GB 2.3.4 gingerbread-evo-deck [1.0][2.3.3 Stable][1.2c][2.3.4 Beta]

All,
I have been an avid forum lurker for some time now. I enjoy everyone's post and take alot of my actions from many of your lead. I have been hesitant to move from my Sprint Lovers 2.2 rooted ROM for the simple fact that everything worked. Most notibly, GPS. I would skittishly flash CM ROMS hoping for the best but lways expecting the worst and race back mommy, err, my SL2.2 ROM, all the while feeling ashamed for not having the sack to stick with it.

That being said... I read thru this post and the post the OP linked at XDA-dev and decided to buy into Deck's ROM. I first flashed 2.3.3 and had 95% success until the GPS broke (DEALBREAKER). I tried all the fixes listed to no avail and raced back to SL2.2. Then decided to give Deck's 2.3.4 ROM a try. What a great decision! Not only does the GPS work, but I cant find a single issue. People have listed the Netflix as an issue but I dont have it so I am content. Things are lightning fast! I now know what all the hub-bub was about AOSP ROMS!!!

I was never a big Sense guy, I just ate what was fed to me. I enjoy the additional functionality that the Facebook app gives with out being guided by Sense's crappy 1.1 shaky foundation. Thank you all for your insite. It has truly givien me the gonads to try the things I have wanted to try.

KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!

PS - You will see this on the XDA-dev site as well...please dont flame. Have to give all the props;)

Just like cloak said, that's why were here man. :-D I couldn't begin to tell you how much I've learned from all the awesome people here and over at XDA or begin to thank them. I just hope that along the way I've been able to help someone and give a little something back to the community I love so much. Anyway...before I start rambling, glad to hear it's working great for you. Hope to see you in the forums. :-)

After installing 2.3.4, it is having problem with GPS. 1.2v has been installed.

When using Google navi, it is searching for GPS, and never locks on.

Any idea?

OK, had my first hiccup with GPS, but, instead of retreating to the safety of my crappy (and now 3 days stagnant) SL2.2 nandroid, I decided to fix the issue. I tried a few of the GPS drivers listed in the XDA-dev thread in the CnD's OP to no avail. I did buckle down and do the apparently more permanent fix of:

GPS fix: Flash into a sense rom, turn on gps and go to maps outside with good sat view. Give it a few minutes to make sure you lock. download MSL reader from the market, run it and write down the value. input ##GPSCLRX# into the dialer, enter the value, leave gps on, reboot, reflash into deck.

This seems to have done the trick. If you already know you MSL password, you can ignore the MSL reader part just note it, because it will be asking for it. That being said, my GPS now locks immediately instead of flashing 4-5 times before finally locking of failing.

Thanks, for the Netflix tip, CnD, works like a champ!!! CamelGuy, I think I will be a little more active in the forums from now on. You guys have helped me step out of my comfort zone and I LIKE IT!!!

Can you suggest Sense based ROM you used to fix this? When you flash the ROM, do you clear the data/cache/Malvic when you come back to Decks?

Give the Sprint Lovers 2.2 ROM a try, should he fine. In regards to the flashing...just make a nandroid of Deck's ROM before you flash the Sense ROM and restore it when your done fixing the GPS. No need to wipe anything when you restore a nandroid, the process does everything for you. :-)

Correct. Sprint Lovers 2.2 is the Sense ROM I moved from so I just had a nandroid backup handy. Just flash the ROM and do the bare minimum to get it functioning unless you need the MSL reader.

10 hrs later...GPS still going:)

I will give it a try. Thanks.

Another issue:
When I am on a longer than 30 seconds phone conversation, when I hit end button, it goes to the lock screen.

If I want to continue to use the phone for something else at the end of the conversation, I have to unlock the phone (enter passcode - due to Corp exchange requirement) then have access to the phone.

I never had this problem before. When I hang up the phone, it goes to the phone dial pad screen, but never locked me out.

Any ideas?

This forum has been good to me.

Is this good? I'm at 45% battery life and that's with moderate use.

I will give it a try. Thanks.

I just rooted using unrevoked, and did all the backups and such and flashed 1.2v. So excited. First time rooting.
