[ROM][GINGERBREAD] CyanogenMOD 7 Nightly Builds.

Glad you all talked me into it. Glad to be back on Cyanogen. ASOP MIUI with no force closes so far. I was just installing as app before and getting issues. I believe I am using the older MIUI camera, but it works great so far. Will update. On nightly 134 here. Works like a champ. Also see attached recommendations for ADW Launcher settings and also the camera that worked for me. Widescreen and nice options.

Looks like 135 is going to take care of the camera issue:

*Fix Camera crashes when changing settings (android_packages_apps_Camera)

*Handle null return from getConnection() cleanly (android_packages_apps_Phone)

Nice, I'm always happy to see camera improvements/fixes.

Does touch-to-focus work yet? 720p vid? I use my camera a lot and that is what is keeping me off CM.

have a problem and am hoping to get help - have been flashing nightlies with no issues until the day before yesterday - after flashing 132 (I think it was 132), got stuck on the white HTC screen - tried backups and they all got stuck on the white screen - reinstalled the last stable CM7 via my Sd card (not ROM Manager) and that got me running but I can't install any updates beyond that - even trying to install CM7 RC1 (or whatever the thing that came after CM7 is called) gets me the white screen again - have used ROM Manager successfully for all my nightly stuff for quite a while -

is ROM Manager possibly the culprit all of a sudden?

My short extremely unscientific answer is YES!

I always flash from recovery, while also doing a cache and dalvik wipe with nightlies.
so what is my next step? I have CM7 stable but am stuck on that - do I load the updates to my SD card manually? Is that it?

Thanks for the help!

No, you're not stuck. Put the latest nightly on your SD card, go into recovery, and fkash it there. I never use ROM Manager to flash ROMs. I have to much trouble that way.

+1 to not using ROM Manager to update/flash. Always reboot into recovery and to it the "manual" way. You will have a much more enjoyable rom flashing experience doing it this way. :)

Check the OP. Literally the minute a build is pushed out with 720p recording, the OP will be changed. Until then, the information listed there stands.

I have never had a single problem with ROM Manager, what is the cause of your issues with it?

The only real problem with ROM Manager is that it does not wipe the caches effectively. For example, wiping data and cache does not wipe dalvik. Wiping cache does not wipe dalvik. This can cause issues for some ROM's.

I've used it for downloading ROM's regularly, except when they forgot to update ROM Manager manifests for a while on the nightlies. Otherwise It's not a bad app. It's just that when folks become too dependent on it and don't know how to manually fix the problem, that's when the problems start.

I believe in a somewhat recent update, ROM Manager has added the ability to wipe dalvik cache along with data/cache. I only keep it around to download the nightlies, as I am too lazy to use the browser. When I downloaded the last nightly though, there was definitely a checkbox for clearing dalvik.

That being said, I still don't trust ROM Manager. I flash everything manually from recovery.

well that was a wild ride! had posted earlier about possible issues with ROM Manager - ended up losing data connectivity on any ROM I used so had to take the phone back to stock and re-root it - flashed CM7 (stable) the manual way and all is now good - will be leaving ROM Manager on the shelf from now on - nothing like a smart phone that can't get e-mail or access the web to get the adrenaline going....

Glad you got everything worked out. I use ROM Manager to update my version of Clovkworkmod, but that's it. Leaving it on the shelf and flashing manually is probable the right way to go.

Gents (and ladies):

I have been using the latest InvisibleK kernal for about a month or so and have no issues with it, but I've noticed that it hasn't been updated in quite some time. I am thinking about switching over to the latest IncrediKernel and I was just wondering how it compares as far as battery life? I'm sure most of you have tested them all out, but I thought I would get some opinions before I flashed it.

Thanks.
