[ROM][GINGERBREAD] CyanogenMOD 7 Nightly Builds.

From the OP .You can click on the info link (after chads name)there and still get the version I have its just not the lastest one.:)
The info link after chads name takes ya to the XDA website with the different kernels

Have you tried the .3 kernel from chad and compared it to what you are using now? if so, any noticeable differences?

actually I am looking at his index now http://chad0989.dyndns.org/ and I don't see what you are talking about... unless you are referring to the release date?

Thats the one I was using when reporting my 2 day battery use and still using :).The .3 kernel. I have been using that one since #21CM7 nightly.
I just refered to it by the date . I have a thumbnail pic below with it circled in red

I kinda figured you had to be talking about the date and not the kernel :) I just flashed Invisableck newest. I have never used any other kernels but chads... So, I will see how it goes.

and the kernel that you circled in your thumbnail was my favorite one thus far. the newest one, for some reason is just destroying my battery.?..

thanks for specifying though, preesh

i really miss my 720P :(

i love the nightlies but i think i might convert back to 2.2 sence just so i can record a video in 720p to upload to youtube.

so do i just load my NANDroid recovery that i took and it should be fine?

im coming back to the nightlies when im done recording, i really love how they added wifi gps BT and sound in the notification pull down. and all the black backgrounds..... yes!

THANKS

Technically, yes, just restore your nandroid and you will be fine, OR.... you can just do a full wipe and flash RC6 if you really love CM (up to you though)... this is verbatim from the OP (first page)

Q: Where is my 720p video recording? CM6 had it, why doesn't CM7?

720P recording will not be coming to CM7 at this time. We *MAY* see it later if we get an HTC GB leak, using an MSM device (aka not omap). But for now, if you HAVE to have 720P recording, stick with CM6.

The issue is that GB uses stagefright, and the hack it took to get 720p in CM6 wont work with stagefright. (it was done in opencore.) This is why we cant get it.

this is sorta of topic, but reading those kernels makes me think of this..
buying an extended battery, is it really worth it? they got some great deals on amazon for the 3500mah for 9.99 up to like 80 bucks.

im interested in one of these batteries but if i can just d/l a kernel that makes my battery life sustain longer then thats cool too. im using invisbleks and i dont think i see any difference lol, but im new to this also.

well if anyones got any feedback on extended batteries pros/cons let me know. 10 dollars is nothing to extend your battery by 20-30 hours.

well im not sure if its CM that i love, maybe it was GBs layout. I havnt seen CM6 so i dont know anything of it.. its 2.2 froyo right? everything is stable i know that, so does that mean it works just as great as the stock sence, if not, im assuming it runs better...?

Honestly, it is a combo of everything... Battery size, the kernel, the kernel settings, what kind of screen set up you have (brightness or live wallpapers kill too), also, what kind of apps that you keep running in the background. there are alot of variables. check out this page, it helped me some and im sure it will help you too.

personally, I just like CM better than stock anything.... give it a try, cant hurt. just remember, between full wipes you will lose your apps, unless you Have titanium PRO

I've had the Seido 3500 since late June/early July and have never looked back. I can get two full days of normal usage out of it. I'd get a new one rather than a used one. They run about $50 but worth every penny to use you phone the way it was meant to be used without scouting plug locations everywhere you go.

Some folks complain about the size of the 3500 but to me the added weight and size feel better in my hand then the stock form factor. I know it?s a personal choice, but I have always viewed my phone as a tool rather than a fashion accessory.

Kudos dude. Im convinced that's what I want these phones were made to put apps and run all your programs. Just batteries kill it. Or I guess were viewing these as a desktop they should run forever lol... the only reason I rooted was for wireless tether. But the Roms are nice

/rant off topic

I was just reading the TBolt forum and the battery thread had me laughing. It's the DInc and the EVO all over again. We could cut and paste some of the battery threads from here and you would never know the difference.

I don't know why folks are so surprised at the battery life. The DInc came with a 1350 and was woefully underpowered. The TBolt has a 1400 with an LTE radio and a 4.3" screen... what did they think it would be like?

It's a simple matter of economics. A smaller battery costs less. Is it a smart move for HTC... I don't think so. It generates too much bad will with users. Unfortunately, as long as consumers demand wafer thin devices the battery life will be bad. Battery technology has a long way to go to keep up with the size/power demands of the market.

/end rant off topic

It's funny you say that, because the only reason I rooted in the first place was to bet better battery life:)

Nice the free alternative. I actually already bought that 3500 and been running it maybe a month. Its pro. I go two days no charge full use.

Oh quick Q can I take the nandroid backups off of the SD and put them on my comp then reload what backup up u want on the SD. This is so I can keep using the same SD but store the backups on PC..

Yep there is no problem doing that at all. I routinely backup my SD to the PC and then clean house to free up space.

/COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC....

Pville... or whoever knows this... and I shouldn't even have "expert" status for asking a question like this ;), BUT.... what is "FASTBOOT" mean and what does it do when you manually go into recovery? the only reason I ask is because I have never used it...

And another thing, I don't know what is different about chads newest .4 kernel, but it is seriously devouring my phone battery... I have to flash back to .3!!! anyone know why that would be. (I am not using my phone in any other manner differently than i normally would)

heres something i havnt seen and id like to know a little about before i tweak the settings..

in CM7 setting u can go to CPU settings and Available governors i understand that pretty self explanatory.

now for the part im sure you dont want to mess up

Min CPU freq
Max CPU freq

Do those control how fast the phone is running? MHz right.. i think im correct

Well has anyone experimented in seeing how much they can over clock their processor? id like to push it to like maybe 1100-1200 see if there is a difference, or if it even really matters seeing that the amount is minimal.

Fastboot is the program that allows you to boot straight into recovery without having to boot into HBOOT first. You use it all the time when you boot straight into recovery... you just don't know it. ;)

Every phone is a little different in terms of what it will take for over clocking or under clocking.

Generally, the min setting should probably be no lower than 250 or so. This would be the idle state. Any lower and you might see problems when waking the phone up or syncs not working properly when the phone is asleep.

For over clocking I've seen folks go as high as 1500 but usually with bad results, lots of heat and unstable running. The 1200 range seems to be where most people end up with stability and speed. Be advised though that over clocking will take it's toll on the CPU and will eat more battery.

Again, every phone is different in terms of what works. I would stick with the defaults or tweak slowly in either direction until you hit on a combination you like.

I don't thunk ill be messing with that then.. it really runs fine. Maybe if I didn't already gave 1ghz its enough.

I just got finished testing the video quality and Its not bad at all. Good lighting I think makes a great difference. So nvm on going back to sence for even cm6. Cm7 rules and I have no reason to go back. But 720p would be icing on the cake... actually the icing us made of gold :)
