[ROM][GINGERBREAD] CyanogenMOD 7 Nightly Builds.

Use the export you made before and then you can import them into gmail. They will sync automatically, then you can arrange them as you like either on the phone or on the web (which is sometimes easier).

I've never tried to export contacts out of CM7 - I'll have to take a look.

EDIT: I just looked and the only option I have is export contacts, it does not specify phone or gmail. I don't have any phone contacts at the moment. Are you seeing the option?

now that they have sinc'd I have doubles and triples of some phone contacts, This should be fun trying delete all the extras

Not sure what you mean by "moving my contacts to gmail" do you mean when I export contacts to sd, export as gmail not phone? I just looked, this rom does not give you the option to export phone only contacts, Thats going to be a huge issue for me.

I would think it wouldn't be a huge deal to have a optional backup assit, I mean if the dev's can put a fine tuned rom like this together, they should be able to snap the fingers and have an optional backup assit dl for those who prefer

Just get a Gmail account sign in. And say sync contacts. It will automatically save all your numbers to Gmail.. and if your not sure go on ur PC sign into Gmail go Fo your inbox and look on the left side of screen it'll say contacts click it and all 160 of your contacts are right there. U can also edit add groups and everything straight from Gmail. Try it out, I just successfully changed over all my emails finally to one account Gmail! I love it

On a tangential topic for CM7, I am trying to change the background for the notification pulldown (cause now that CM7's stable, I need something to play with, right?). On other ROM's, it's pretty easy (use NinjaMorph to replace status_bar_background.png in the framework-res.apk with a .png of your choice), but for CM7, it won't work (I assume it is because CM7 uses ThemeManager). Does anyone have any ideas for how to tweak this?

Here's the result of my tinkering on another ROM:

Edit: I may have found the answer to my own question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-947599.html

I'll give it a go and let everyone know the results...

gmail has a tool on the web interface to remove duplicates. Worked well for me - I had the same issue.

I always thought that checking for dulicates was to remove them, I have tried that, it only does emails, When I look at my contacts on my pc via gmail it does not show all my phone contacts, and the phone contacts are the ones I have doubles and triples.

Maybe I have them stored wrong, but something is wrong, Its not this rom, I have always had this issue with all roms that did not have verizon backup.

Since you guys are so helpful, I cant seem to find where I can change how often gmail checks for new mail. I have looked in accounts/sync and also looked in settings in gmail. any ideas on this?

Thanks
Ken

Here is the duplicate contact instructions
Gmail Duplicate Contacts Clean and Merge | Gmail Duplicate Contacts Remover

Import your contacts again only this time when it prompts you if to phone or gmail, select gmail and you should be good. Then let it sync.

I just did some searching,
On my phone Most of my phone contacts say "phone only not sync'd"
Now when I look at my contacts on my pc I look for my contact named "chris" only his email is there, on my phone my contact "chris" says phone only.

It seems I need to redo/add all my contacts in gmail on my pc so they are all gmail, then delete all my contacts on my phone then sync my phone with gmail and all the contacts I edited on my pc will go into my phone and solve my future problems

Yes?
thanks

I just tired to send a pic to my email so I could upload it and post it here to show you what Im seeing in my contacts. the phone will not send ANY pic's via email. I just tried to send a couple different ones as a test, They just sit there saying sending, but never send
Is this a known problem or do I have a problem?
Thanks
Ken

Ok I went through all 192 contacts, they are all good now, I sync'd my contacts on my phone, but all my "phone only" contacts are still there.
How Do i delete ALL my contacts in my phone?
after I delete all my contacts in my phone I should be able to sync contacts again and get all my contacts the way they should be

After some tinkering, I got a setup I'm pretty happy with, with a honeycomb background and the fauxcomb battery indicator from the Carbonite CM7 theme over the Honeybread theme. It wasn't too bad to do with NinjaMorph, either, once I figured out where all the files were kept.

I also have been rocking the "no lockscreen" tablet option with the screen on animation, which looks way better than it did with the lockscreen enabled. Going through this, I am amazed at the root tools available by the great dev community and the wealth of information over at XDA. Plus, it's pretty nice to know that it's darn near impossible to brick a phone playing with the systemui.apk ;).

I dont think there is an easy way to delete what's stored on your phone. You just have to delete one by one. I'm so glad I starting my contacts with Gmail right away, makes flashing so easy... but look on the bright side once your done, you'll never have to go through adding contacts again.

Sidenote: thanks for the help Seth. Installed my new 8g SD no problem. Total memory 16gigs woo! Ill never fill it haha

No Problem Brother... :) I should be getting my 16 gb any day in the mail now :)

So yea...#39 is up. I just have a huge habit of checking the teamdouche site!!! LoL
Holy Sh.. what can 39 possibly offer us that isn't already in the 7 stable edition.. I am checking the gerrits right now.. Hold on.... Ok so I just checked them, and there is nothing for us at all BUT my question is why the HELL would they release a stable version and then continue with the nightly's... I am seriously confused about how CM is doing things...

Anyway... Im flashing right now... cuz im impulsive and addicted :) like all of you...

So... If anyone flashes this NEW nightly 39, fine tooth comb it and let us all know what is if any differences in it... I will do the same
