Bingo!

Believe it or not, when I was working on sROM 1.1 (which never got released) I had already put that in there so I should still have it on my hard drive somewhere.

if not,

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780828 is the link to the page.

it's not quite installable, you'll need to place it in the system/app folder. it can be added to the system by anyone though so for those who just can't wait for a update can throw it in there and restart.

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

I got some little improvements planned. Nothing major.... Maybe a revert to the older Market, a theme change to the launcher to be aesthetically true to the OS version...

Maybe... Well see! No promises but I will try to work that in. That's a very time consuming and delicate mod because it calls for re-engineering some low level components but I do see the value in it.

Maybe Nick7 would help with it? He mastered it in his Reborn ROM. I may send him a PM and see if he can help with this. Otherwise I need to start from scratch and that may take a while.

Like the idea of gingerbread launcher theme (but I mostly use GoLauncher)

Would love to have data2ext since I'm running out of space when I still have 40 Mbs of internal space left (I understand why, but I'd love to have a Gb of storage that is all usable). Still, I have more space than with any of the non-CM7 ROMs for 2.2.

And I liked the old ThundeRom setup with Reboot and Boot to Recovery options when pressing the power button. (again, no big deal--just a little easier)

This is an awesome rom though! haven't experienced any of the difficulties a few have reported. Was torn between going to Drew's CM7 or this. I'm having no regrets in choosing gRom.

Thanks for all your work!

Is it just me, or is battery life really bad with this ROM. In just about 4 hours of barely any usage, I was down to 30% :(

Also, is anyone else having the issue of google maps and/or gallery just showing a black screen with nothing else?

I might need to reflash, the battery seemed fine yesterday but today it just really was bad.

Battery life was good till I actually started installing apps and using my phone 8^)

check to see if your location (gps) is turned on, if it is, turn it off, it sucks the life out of batterys

As far as the reboot and recovery option that is also something I will look into.

Nos so sure. Did you go to settings and about phone to see what is sucking it down? Generally most people report decent battery.

check to see if your location (gps) is turned on, if it is, turn it off, it sucks the life out of batterys

Could be? You never know. Each person has a differnt profile of usage so....

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

Managed to find a workaround for the data issue. It seems that Juicedefender wasn't playing well with the new gingerbread rom (gROM and stock). Now I just switch data on and off manually with widgets. However, when wifi connects it does not display the signal strength.

I've also noticed something else. Even with setcpu and drew's gingerkernel overclocked I am getting lag when listening to pandora with the dspmanager on. Just having my finger on the screen causes skipping in the audio whereas a flick does not cause this. This happens anywhere, browser, file browser, app launcher, moving the launcher to another section etc. This is unbearable as it is almost impossible to surf the web while listening to music.

Happens on stock and gROM. None of this happened with 2.2 stock, Reborn, Drew's CM7 etc.

Any help appreciated.

BTW would formatting my sdcard help with performance issues?

Thanks,
masaharustin

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

I got 36 hours of battery life out of this rom before needing to recharge. that's including some streaming on Pandora, text, phone calls, internet surfing (mainly checking my fantasy football scores and stats every 20-30 mins yesterday). Overall this rom has given me the best battery life. Great job with the rom. Looking forward to future updates.

I think its the kernel but you have brough up three different things so let me better understand your concern?

1. Are you having lag thourhg the ROM when you use DSP manager?
2. Are you having lag throught the ROM with Pandora?
3. Are you having lag thought the ROM with Pandora when using DSP Manager?
4. Are you having lag REGARDLESS of kernel used?

I just need you to clarify before I can answer with any sort of certainty. But we all know for fact Drews kernel is not quite "compatible" with this ROM (despite the claims made prior). Also, when people report problems with almost any GB ROM I make... Juice defender is near the top of the list for trouble makers, especially with data type issues or connectivity issues. Just saying...

I dont think its an SD card issue... Could be but not sure until I get more data from you.

Thanks

Sorry I wasn't completely clear and thanks for the fast reply.

1. Yes, the lag is only apparent when DSP manager is on. More noticeable when the eq is on but still so with bass boost. Only through pandora.

2. Just checked, the skipping only happens with pandora and not the music player.

3. No lag through the ROM without DSP.

4. This happens regardless of kernel.

What bothers me most is these things happen on the stock gingerbread rom.

I've also noticed a weird change in screen sensitivity. At times it is oversensitive, other times it won't detect my touch the first time. Makes swype and moving widgets/icons harder to do. Not sure if this one is gROM specific.

Sorry for all the problems.

Thanks,
masaharustin

Great, the clarification makes this a lot easier....

As far as the lag with DSP Manager... Well maybe she just cant handle it with GB and Pandroa but I really it should? I will let others share there opinion / experiences before I past final judgment.

As far as the screen sensitivity. That could be due to the kernel if you are still using GingerKernel (or whatever its called, lol). I would dirty flash gROM 1.1 to overwrite the GingerKernel. Yesterday I put a note in the OP not to use it because of the exact same issues that you have noted. Others have noted it as well and few people posted in his thread. He is working on trying to figure it out so I am excited for him if gets it down right because OC'ing this ROM would be great!!!

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

Ive been using the ROM for a few days now. Its awesome. Its everything I wanted from CM7 such as dsp manager and stuff, with the stuff CM7 didnt have like the ability to use the microphone while a headset, or aux line for my truck, is used to allow hands free texting with speech to text. Ive read some conflicting stuff but from what Ive experianced before Im getting huge battery life savings compared to CM7 mods, even better then Reborn for me.

Ive had two issues though. Wondering if anyone else has noticed them. Sorry if they have already been addressed..I dont believe they have. First one is random rebooting. I havent had the phone reboot while using it yet. Well..only once, I was streaming a video, the media player seemed to freeze, phone became unresponsive and rebooted. Only once though and I think its happened to me before using other ROMs and stuff. However, when im not using the phone I think its rebooting on me. I didnt notice at first but when I would get notifications for email or stuff I would check the phone it would be the same messages I had already ignored. It only dawned on me that my phone is rebooting because I went to check my battery use because I noticed it was awesome. Time on battery would say like 26 mins though even though I was off the charger for hours. It turns out the notifications were the default ones you get when your phone starts up if you have any messages marked as not read.

Second issue is my SD card is unmounting itself randomly. I'll check my phone and get notified that my SD card is safe for removal. I have to go back into phone settings and remount the SD card. Ive used the stock Froyo, Reborn, Drews CM7, and SRom and havent had this issue until now. I did a full clean whipe. Had to update from ZVD.. whiped after I rooted, then installed GRom with default kernal provided.

Anyone else having these issues? I'll try a dirty flash one more time to see if that fixes it.

O yea, and DSP Manager was my main motivation for this ROM and havent noticed any performance issues with it as of yet. I always have an EQ applied to headset. Use it hours a day. Every where I drive through my truck and at the gym. While Im driving I usually have DSPManager with EQ, Google Navigation, Pandora, and often a speedometer app going at the same time.

Just remembered to..

For the guy talking about lag with DSPManager. If you are OCing and using multiple apps DO NOT use smartass. Most OC apps overclock...and underclock. smart ass governor doesnt play well when I had multiple apps open. Try this..if you have Pandora going, and it gets really bad when the screen goes to sleep, but fixes it self, or gets better when you wake it again, its the governor. When the screen is sleeping smartass/interactive will underclock the cpu to save battery. When the screen is awake it will try to use the lowest CPU clock it can to perform. Usually not perfect though and still causing lag/stuttering in music. When the screen is off it will lock it at your min clock. Probably 245. I had this issue with setcpu, and drews CM7 built in governors/oc software.

Put the governor on ondemand and you should fix the issue. Not a rom/kernal or anything like that issue at all.

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

well, the best tip would be remove any OCing software, load gROM fresh and see if you have the same issue.

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

So I did a dirty flash and the lag problem is completely solved. Even better than Reborn and CM7 (they both had a little skipping when locking/turning on the screen). I have no idea as to why it worked since there was lag previously on the first flash of gROM without gingerkernel but whatever.

Lol I'm so happy now that I can enjoy my music to it's fullest.

Thanks!

Keep up the awesome work!

Up Time and Battery Use Times are quirky

Ok. I was using ThundeRom on VD. Now I'm using gRom on VZ. this is my first full day on gRom. I've used my phone today pretty much as I normally would and haven't noticed any significant change in battery life. Over the course of a day, I normally see an average drop of 6%-7% per hour (averaging over about 10 hours). Same thing today. However, I noticed some weird issues with the battery use timer and did some checking. I don't know if these are from the 2.3.3 update or from the rom...

Here's what I did: I fully charged the phone while it was turned off. When fully charged (at 6:06pm), I turned it on and unplugged it. I verified that Battery Use and Up Time had restarted and were within seconds of each other. It is now 6:33pm. Battery Use time reads13:48. Up Time reads 14:51. The phone has been on and unplugged for 27 minutes. I watched it carefully to make sure it did not reboot itself and can verify that it did not.

The timers seem to stop when the screen is off. I tested this a few times by checking the time, turning the screen off, turning it on a couple of minutes later and immediately checking the time--only a few seconds had passed on the timer.

During the day today, I noticed some large discrepancies in both timers. Phone off charger for 4-5 hours and the Up Time only showed 1 1/2-2 hours while the Battery use showed 20-30 minutes. Again, the phone had not rebooted.

I rooted VZ nd installed gRom 1.1 immediately afterward, so I don't know if the timers are like this on stock or not. Probably wouldn't have noticed this for some time except that I was comparing battery battery life with my former setup.

Can anyone else check and see if they are experiencing the same? Glitches in the timers can affect some people's perception of battery life if that is what they rely on to determine it...
