Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

I'm not on gROM, but I noticed that sometimes the battery timer in CM7 and Reborn didn't always refresh perfectly when I opened them. My guess is they display the last time the info was accessed by the app, rather than an "up-to-the-minute" or second or whatever status. It seems like this could create the appearance of being out of sync if they never refresh at the same rate. Is it possible that this is what you're noticing?

It's not that they aren't perfectly synced. it's that they are both WAY off from real time.

Phone has been on for 58 minutes now. Hasn't rebooted. Up Time says 24:02. Battery Use says 23:34. At this point, they are close enough (just 36 seconds off) to say it's from the boot up time. At other times today, they have been hours apart--which isn't just slightly out of sync. The big thing is that in slightly less than 60 minutes, they are both more than 34 minutes out of sync with the REAL time they should be showing.

Right. I see what you are saying. Is there a way to force a refresh by hitting menu and refresh? does that change the time shown at all? I recall wondering about the reliability of these timers myself so I'm curious to see what you discover.

Nope. Tried it, but that just refreshes for the few seconds it was stopped while viewing the time (which would happen if I backed out and went back in, too).

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 [Official!] It just got r

Ive been using the ROM for a few days now. Its awesome. Its everything I wanted from CM7 such as dsp manager and stuff, with the stuff CM7 didnt have like the ability to use the microphone while a headset, or aux line for my truck, is used to allow hands free texting with speech to text. Ive read some conflicting stuff but from what Ive experianced before Im getting huge battery life savings compared to CM7 mods, even better then Reborn for me.

Ive had two issues though. Wondering if anyone else has noticed them. Sorry if they have already been addressed..I dont believe they have. First one is random rebooting. I havent had the phone reboot while using it yet. Well..only once, I was streaming a video, the media player seemed to freeze, phone became unresponsive and rebooted. Only once though and I think its happened to me before using other ROMs and stuff. However, when im not using the phone I think its rebooting on me. I didnt notice at first but when I would get notifications for email or stuff I would check the phone it would be the same messages I had already ignored. It only dawned on me that my phone is rebooting because I went to check my battery use because I noticed it was awesome. Time on battery would say like 26 mins though even though I was off the charger for hours. It turns out the notifications were the default ones you get when your phone starts up if you have any messages marked as not read.

Second issue is my SD card is unmounting itself randomly. I'll check my phone and get notified that my SD card is safe for removal. I have to go back into phone settings and remount the SD card. Ive used the stock Froyo, Reborn, Drews CM7, and SRom and havent had this issue until now. I did a full clean whipe. Had to update from ZVD.. whiped after I rooted, then installed GRom with default kernal provided.

Anyone else having these issues? I'll try a dirty flash one more time to see if that fixes it.

O yea, and DSP Manager was my main motivation for this ROM and havent noticed any performance issues with it as of yet. I always have an EQ applied to headset. Use it hours a day. Every where I drive through my truck and at the gym. While Im driving I usually have DSPManager with EQ, Google Navigation, Pandora, and often a speedometer app going at the same time.

Im glad to see your overall experience is positive. As far as the SD Card... I see it from time to time, very rarely... IM pretty sure its hardware related as they have tried to compensate for it in the past but it randomly surfaces for me. Its not very often. But I dont use the phone as much as I used now that I have the 3D. I dont think flashing the ROM again is going to have any affect. You may choose to format the SD card in full. No quick format. That stopped it for me.

Wow, that is strange... Has anyone confirmed this on the Stock ROM?

Same here (uptime in battery status less than actual). Stock kernel

I use battery indicator products for time since unplugged and the battery time is no where close

Final update on this--I'm not obsessing, just trying to get some empirical data for you (I LOVE the rom!)

Phone has not rebooted since it was started and taken off charger 1 hour and 48 minutes ago.

On for 108 minutes. Battery use is 43:4. Up Time is 44:19.

BTW, battery is now at 90%, which is within the typical 6%-7% usage I am used to experiencing (on the good end, in fact) on previous rom with VD. But if I mistakenly calculated battery use by the battery on time, I would think that my usage was a horrible 15% or so per hour. This could be the results of some of the issues people have had with battery usage. In other words, they think they are using battery at a faster rate than they actually are because they are basing usage on an incorrect time.

I too noticed the battery stats "bug ". I trully think its a zvh f-up. Would like to know if stock rom users are seeing this too.

yeah, it's happening with the stock too... eck

If you go to sprints website and read the recent reviews for this phone, its pretty sad. They used to be great back in the day.

Just installed 1.1. Excellent work, thank you so much. Feels so good to have Sprint ID gone once and for all. I think this will tide me over until the Nexus Prime comes out, if ever.

How would I install the newer swype beta with this rom? I am not too savvy in the inner workings of this stuff, but managed to get it on CM7 when I was at the ZVD baseband...

uninstall the stock swype with titanium backup, then go to the swype beta site and download the new version after signing up.

Just a heads up, when I did the install of new Swype after uninstalling the old one with Titanium..it did nothing but force close, and i had to revert to the previous version. Not sure why it doesn't play nice with the new 2.3.3..running rooted with Xionia and this Rom.

I'm also getting an "SD card unexpectedly removed" message every once and a while this morning. I saw one commenter had mentioned it. I never had the issue with the 2.2 stock ROM.

Another issue I've seen is the browser unexpectedly closing when I'm loading a page over 3G. I can replicate it every time when browsing this article, see if you can reproduce. Wait until the page fully loads (or almost), then see if it sends you back to the home screen. My guess is maybe a flash element on the page is causing it.

I'm guessing these issues are either related to the hardware or the update itself and not necessarily this custom ROM.

Im sure you would have to remove the libs as well? Not sure if TIB does that or not?

SD Card error is as SD Card error does....

As far as the WSJ article... I tried it on the Optimus and it did exactly what you said. So... I popped over to the Evo 3D and it did the EXACT same thing. So I decided to poke around about it... Because thats my style :)

I went to W3C Validator and it found 358 issues with that web page. LOL The WSJ may be good with money but they sure dont know how to publish a web page, lol!

Here is the validation results: [Invalid] Markup Validation of http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424053111903374004576581000189433470.html - W3C Markup Validator

Quick Edit: My own website (www.scottsroms.com) has 2 issues and these android central forums (forum.androidcentral.com) had 5 issues. That comparison is to show you how badly wsj is encoded. Thats prolly one of the most poorly encoded websites In the history of mankind. Do they know what standards are? lol I dare someone to find something worse! If so post it and I will thank and like your post! lol

I think we can safely say this is not a ROM issue, lol
