Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 - Stuff just got real!

Well I have the old LCD and I can't say that I have noticed any issues with hightened sensitivity. I am not on gROM yet though...just the stock gingerbread. Did people start having sensitivity issues after the update or after flashing this ROM?

I noticed it with stock gb. I didn't think much of it at the time since i though flashing to gROM would fix it. I guess it didn't. as Jp said, it just goes away.

After flashing 1.1 I'm not getting the screen sensitivity issues anymore.

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 - Stuff just got real!

I have an older LCD and had the sensitive screen issue, but after a few hours of playing with it, it went away. It's back to normal as far as I can tell.

I'm not sure if it "went away" or if I've just become accustomed to it already by making my touches a bit quicker and lighter, but I haven't had a mistype since yesterday early afternoon, and I use my phone constantly. I would not use the sensitive LCD as a reason not to do this upgrade.

It has been a very common pattern for it to just go away by itself. Who knows why but it just does.

are any of you currently using gingerkernel and/or overclocked?
my experiences were:
stock/gROM + gingerkernel + overclocked = super high sensitivity, almost unusable
stock/gROM + gingerkernel = somewhat high sensitivity. comes and goes.
stock + stock kernel = somewhat high sensitivity. comes and goes.
gROM + stock kernel = no sensitivity issues so far

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 - Stuff just got real!

I'm running completely stock other than root and recovery

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 - Stuff just got real!

I am going to give this a shot this weekend. Are there any issues?

No there are not. I keep a very up to date and accurate known issues list in post #2 so you can alway slook there for anything that might deter you from flashing. As of now there are not true known issues.

Did you already update to ZVH? There are some issues:
1: keys double pressing
2. Not OC'ed (Drew's kernel is though)
3. People complaining about poor 3G connections(none at all in some cases)
4. Keyboard auto correct does not work correctly
Update as you can see has a few bugs. (Not a rom problem though)

I appreciate the help but I dont agree with your "issue" list. Here is why....

1. Not a real issue as you can see by all the replies. Stock ROM has the same affect so disregarding this as an issue. I think its something funcky sprint is doing as a calibration? Just a thought on that one. Now that I think back I saw it the first time I flashed but after that I never saw it again. But its hardly something I call an issue.

2. Is this really something worth listing as an issue? Really? An issue is more defined as a problem with the ROM. Not a lack of features or desirable features.Listing this is just silly.

3. 3G Connectivity is not an issue with the ROM. As a mattery of fact my 3G inmproved after doing PRL / Profile update. Its faster than its ever been!

4. It works as SPRINT intended it to work. Its not borked in the ROM. Its how the stock ROM works. I am sure I can change that though. Shouldnt be hard at all.

Ugh. All this talk of a too sensitive screen with the old LCD really has me discouraged. Reminds me of the issue where certain handsets with the VD radio would just NEVER boot past the LG logo. Sprint finally cleared that up with an update, but it took months from what I recall. Mine is from a month after the Optimus S was introduced, so it almost certainly has the old LCD I'd guess.

Wonderful.

You would be making a mistake not to flash it. See all responses and also compare that with the feature set. You wont be unhappy with your choice to flash.

No, mine just went away lol I'm still type with the same amount of pressure as before and it's back to normal. When i first flashed the update, my heavy typing would result in multiple repeating letters, but now it's fine. I was having overly sensitive touchscreen issues when trying to scroll down the app drawer and some of the apps would open when i barely touched them to scroll. Now i can scroll normally. Like I said, can't explain it. But I agree, it's not a dealbreaker in upgrading to GB. Especially with new roms and themes in the making, it'll just get better.

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 - Stuff just got real!

Yep exactly. After I flashed/upgraded to 1.1 it removed Gingerkernel and now I get no sensitivity issues with stock kernel.

Thanks for clearing that up. As it is though, I'll probably wait until:

1) the WiFi poll rate is modified, since I recall this having a pretty significant battery life boost for those of us leaving WiFi enabled all the time

and

2) A version comes out with the built in Power Control Widget in the tray. I've become too dependent on that from the Reborn Rom. Heh.

Big thanks to you for getting the GB Rom ball rolling though. Can't wait to get it on here :)

Not a problem at all we all do it. I am the kind of person that reads all the posts before I make a decision. That way I know as much as possible about any possible hic ups or whatever. I can see everyone is saying good things about this rom, which is why I will be using it myself.
And yes that is a funny picture! LOL.

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.1 - 9/16/11 - GB 2.3.3 - Stuff just got real!

Hi folks, sorry for off topic.

I streamlined the ZVH root procedure (Step 6) to hopefully make it simpler and more idiot-proof. If you have a little extra time, appreciate if folks could give me feedback on that thread.

You do not need to start from scratch, lose root, or lose what you are currently working on.

Just put stock V9 recovery back on (step 3)

and run through step 6 to install permanent root.

Thanks

Is there a good replacement for the states bar power widgets

For data2ext look at the how to thread. That had the script for data2ext, but it is going to depend on whether or not this rom has ext file system support.

So the CM7 themes work on this ROM. I think not but just checking incase I'm wrong :D
