Hi,

I've been using this ROM since V1 and I have a few questions and comments.

First, everything is now working well for me and I really like ROM updater.

But also, I did have a few issues when I initially updated to the VH radio and gRom. I had the screen sensitivity issue that others have had, but that cleared up on it's own after a few hours. I also had the SD card unmounting randomly issue that I thought was fixed back in the froyo days and battery life was also far worse after updating (~45% time without signal in battery stats).

Now just a few days ago, I went into settings and updated profile and PRL. Since i did this, the phone seems to be perfect. No more SD card unmounts and 0% time without signal.

Is it even possible that updating profile and PRL could resolve these issues and if it is, why isn't step 6 in the "how to flash" section say to update profile and PRL?

It could be the cause of the signal issue but thats debatable. As far as the screen issue, no, prl and profile dont touch that.

Also, some things have to be assumed when you flash a custom ROM. Updating PRL and profile is standard phone maintenance and should be performed on custom ROMS as well as stock.

Thanks for removing TalkBack in 2.1. My phone's keyboard somehow changed to that as default in 2.0 and I was getting crazy force close errors for some google.marvin.feedback something or another. My phone sent out texts to my cousin and some other # I didn't recognize and called my brother-in-law and an old friend of mine that it probably shouldn't have been calling.

FYI, when I tried to download from within Rom Manager, I was getting an unable to download from mirror message of some sorts. No big deal since I could hit your website from the PC, but I thought I'd mention it.

This is probably the millionth time ROM Manager has been mentioned, even though we have a thread in the stickies that clearly states that using ROM Manager on the Optimus S can very very easily cause a BRICK.

We do not support ROM Manager, and probably never will. ROM Manager does NOT support the Optimus S as an official device, only the Optimus V.

This goes without saying, but any bugs reported after having used ROM Manager will be absolutely ignored.

Hey guys quick question, I just rooted my mother-in-laws phone and flashed the 2.1 rom but the Sense Clock was not installed with the flash. I did it the same way I did my phone and everything works great, but her's didn't have the clock. Am I missing something or did it get removed? Thanks for the help in advance.

Edit: I have also done a Wipe Data / Dalvik Cache wipe and still isn't showing up. It is the same file that I used to flash mine.

Yes. Sorry for the confusion all. This was in fact from within Rom Updater, not Manager. I posted a bit too quickly as I was leaving work and didn't double check my post.

I'm also having problems with the sd card (exactly the same as with the old stock rom)...is there a .apk somewhere that fixes this? If not, was the issue ever isolated, so whenever gROM 2.2 is released, it won't have this problem?

I would try to do a full wipe again, flash the debugsystem zip and reflash the rom. It may have just gotten lost in translation somewhere. If you are missing an app, it may not have been a clean install at all.

I always wipe data, wipe dalvik, go to mounts and storage and format system, before begining to flash the needed zips for any rom.

this is a known VH upgrade issue

I had that problem too. As I said before I dont know if there's any reason for this, but after I updated profile and PRL, the SDcard issues disappeared.

If you are using the stock SD card, Id recommend getting a different one.
I changed from the stock to a 2gb sandisk card and have not had the unmount problem after that.

Are the following Sprint/LG apps built-into this ROM?
1) SprintTV (This is critical for me.)
2) Voicemail. (I assume this is in there.)
3) News & Weather (Don't care much.)

If these apps or other Sprint apps aren't built-in, how would I add them?

Are the following stock Google/Android apps built-into this ROM?
Browser
Calculator
Calendar
Camcorder
Camera
Clock
Contacts
Email
Gallery
Gmail
Market
Messaging
Music
Phone
Voice Search (and tied to Voice Search button on the phone).

If these apps aren't built-in, how would I add them?

Does the WiFi Tether work perfectly (infrastructure, not peer-to-peer)? WiFi hotspot capability is critical for me.

SprintTV is not included, but everything else is, or could be downloaded from the market. Perhaps someone has the apk for SprintTV around.
