[ROM] Not fully Official CM7 for Thunderbolt. 7.1.1 Updated 10-2

Re: [ROM] Not fully Official CM7 for Thunderbolt. 7.1.1 Updated 1

Been running this ROM since AUGUST and I have to say it's freakin' awesome. Great battery life, speedy, and very few bugs.

A few of note:

-General not receiving/being able to send phone calls/mms "I didn't get your call" or "I never got that text"

-Small lag occasionally when scrolling through screens or opening the app drawer

-Occasional drops in data

-GPS for weather sometimes telling me I'm somewhere in eastern Europe

Those are actually all I can think of, but this is really an awesome ROM. :D

Common sense... maybe... but once you know the history.... CyanogenMod was told by Google they could not include the Google Apps in it's ROM... that is why in the OP post on RootzWiki it always has a link to GAPPS... it's always been there and if you want to use CyanogenMod ROM you will need to flash the GAPPS, and it can be done right after you flash that very small CM7 file.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how I get gtalk with video up and running on CM?

Go to goo-inside.me - gapps downloads... download and flash the gapps-gb-20110828-newtalk-signed.zip file.... I believe that is suppose to fix the issue... at least that is what I've heard... I don't use gtalk.

I've never used an AOSP ROM before, but would like to try. Can I flash the gapps right after flashing the ROM without rebooting or should a reboot be done in between?

You'll have to reboot after you flash CM7. You can just use ROM manager, install ROM for sd card, select the gapps file and you don't have to wipe anything.

I've always just flashed gapps immediately after flashing cm7, never had a problem with it.

I flash the Gapps right after I flash the ROM, without reboot in between... works just fine.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate your input. Sense is really all I've ever known, so I was a bit hesitant. I feel better after receiving your advice.

You'll find much faster boot times as well as overall performance with CM7. It won't look as pretty but generally you can fix that with apps like Beautiful Widgets and such.

Re: [ROM] Not fully Official CM7 for Thunderbolt. 7.1.1 Updated 1

So, I'm not sure if this is an issue specifically with CM7, but since that's the only ROM I've used (and never had the following issue when I was stock), I'm assuming it'd make the most sense to ask about it here.

What's happening is, when I go to the Market, and choose My Apps, it lists a bunch of the apps I have installed as "Not installed". Not only that, but I'm pretty sure the "Not installed" list is missing a bunch of apps I've downloaded in the past and then uninstalled for one reason or another. Logging out and then logging back in seemed to remedy the problem with the installed apps showing as "Not installed", but the next day, it's happened again. I don't understand...

Guessing... but it does sound like a Market app issue... so go into Settings > Applications & settings > Manage applications > Downloaded tab > select the Market app... what version #??? I have version 3.3.11 and it's been working just fine... I flashed mine with the newest GAPPS file (20110828).

I have the same version, 3.3.11.

You might try going in the same way to the applications list, and clear data and also cache... give it a couple minutes, then start it up again.

Did that last night, then left it alone. Checked a little while later, and it seemed to be fixed again. Then I turned on my phone this morning, went to My Apps, and once again, a bunch of them are showing up as "Not installed".
