don't know how to get into CW red...Do I have to be hooked up to computer?

First make sure you have downloaded update.zip and that file is in your sd card. Power down your phone. Hold Vol UP & DOWN simultaneously and press power button to turn on your phone. It should bring you default Android recovery. Go down to where it says install update.zip and press "Enter" which will reboot the phone in CW red.

Just curious if anyone else is seeing this. When I plug the phone into my PC by usb, the mount as card option will not activate unless you have usb debugging activated. Just a weird minor issue, I thought I would share.

Okay,
I am running SFC 2.7v and I am still having an issue that has been plaguing me since SC 2.4v- The issue is, I get a groan noise durring a voice call when the phone light sensor detects the phone being away from your face and display is on. When the phone is up to my ear the groan goes away. When the phone is on speaker and display is on I get the noise, when display goes black no noise. Any thoughts? should I try changing kernels or modems? Should I be using dummy tether kernel?

Try rebooting (take out battery, put back in). Hold down volume + and volume- (just hold the middle of the volume rocker), & then hold down the power button. Continue to hold the buttons down until the samsung flashes a second time, let go at this point. You should then go to a blue screen that says recovery, go to apply update.zip (this is cwm), use volume keys to go up and down, use the home key to select. You should then go into clockwork. Use volume key to go up and down once in clockwork, and the power button to select.

Once in clockwork you can flash a superclean rom, the newest is 2.8.

As far as mac goes, I really have no idea. I thought I remember reading a tutorial somewhere though.

I do everything you said except when I select apply update.zip I get a triangle with an exclamation ! mark in it...and a green droid guy. and it just sits there.

Yeah, not a big deal as long as you know to turn on debugging, but quite a headache until you figure it out.

hi, i just flashed 2.8, and now for some reason i boot into cwm and i'm now using the orange verison of cwm..not my red one...and i also cant get my phone to mount up with odin...any suggestion? and has anybody else had this problem

EDIT* finally got it working again, hadda reinstall a differnt set of drivers and the correct ones again for some reason...who knows.

thats a known issue. dl dolphin browser from the market and try it.

nope...same thing..... at one point I was able to open attachemnts.... I can't remember when tho, it may have been before I flashed eb01.

do you know if there is any other way around this?

I would try doing a complete data wipe/reflash back to stock. The instructions for that can be found here. At that point I would use Odin again to flash one of the Superclean Roms. The how-to for this can be found here. Does the image on your screen look like the image that I have attached?

no. that usually fixed it. if you are willing to start over, wipe data and cacha and dalvick cache. then got to mounts and storage and format everything two or three times. make sure you back up your sd card first.

Everyone is having this issue. I don't think the devs can try to fix it until Samsung releases the source.

The good thing is that the issue seems to be a lot less noticeable. Still there but nowhere near as annoying.

Newbie Help Needed for Fascinate update, can't wait for Verizon..

follow the directions in droidxcons thread but use EB16SC28_DXC.tar and everything should work out just fine. This will clear your data so make sure you backup everything you want. The EB16SC28x_DXC.tar file is for upgrading, for instance, if you were running on superclean 2.6 that file would upgrade you to 2.8 and none of your data would be wiped.

Any suggestions for a backup util that doesn't require a rooted phone?

Also, very dumb question here.. If I buy an app, and I wipe my phone and loose it, is it really gone or can you re-download it without a re-purchase? Has kept me from paying for an app

Tried all 4 ports, multiple times with no luck. It was working earlier yesterday so I don't understand what went wrong. I'll buy a new USB cord and give that a try. Does it matter if USB debugging is checked or not? Also what would happen if I did a factory reset on my phone since it's rooted and running 2.6? Considering all the USB issues I'm having I would like to try and get it back to stock so I can get a new one.
