[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

1. Correct

2. I'm not sure what threads you're referring to. Some people do have problems with the procedure (just like any modification).

No I didn't mean problems with the procedure, sorry I wasn't clear. There are a bunch of threads on XDA about the ext4 file system causing issues with NAND (like bad blocks). I'm pretty ignorant about it - I've only skimmed the threads. I just took another look and it seems that most are dismissing the "dangers" as much ado about nothing, so no worries.

Thanks for the ROM, will be converting to ext4 and flashing tonight.

Ok, I think I'm ready to do this...but, I'm a bit confused as to what I need to do. There's a lot of info floating around, and I'm not sure I really know what my procedure should be.

I have an Epic running Eclair DI18. It's rooted, but otherwise stock. If I wanted to upgrade to TrulyEpic, and switch to ext4, what would be the basic steps?

Thanks!

Just flashed this on my phone, done waiting for Samsung's update. So far its running great.

Same question here. I have been reading all the threads and think I have a handle on this but with the info scattered about I am not totally sure. I also want to make sure I am able to go back to stock if necessary.

For those looking for where to start, take a look at the epic-lag-fix thread. The first post gives step by step instructions...

That will set you up with DK28 if you don't have it already, and gives the step by step instructions for setting up CWM v3.0.0.5, used to flash this ROM.

Step 6 in that thread will give you the instructions on how to flash this ROM.

Hope that helps.

Using the Beta ROM... I noticed that it reboots every time after I attempt to install an app from the market. Is this an known issue?

As it always seems to be from reading through posts, the install (or recovery) may not always take the first time. I don't know what the problem was, but I was successful in using MyBackupRoot this time around and a tasty, sleek ROM has appeared with a functioning phone! Well played sirs!

Also, the app cannot get installed via the market. I already tried "Fix Permissions" in ClockWorkRecovery.

Goto the first post in this thread Epic Lag Fix: RFS to EXT4 (Now w/Clockwork v3.0.0.5) and go over the steps in [Procedure]. This will root/install EXT4/ClockWorkMod v.3.0.0.5 all in one package. You will first have to upgrade to DK28 Froyo before you can go further.

Same thing, read above..

This is a very simple setup if you follow the few steps in the very first [Procedure].

Also, the app cannot get installed via the market. I already tried "Fix Permissions" in ClockWorkRecovery.

I would suggest reflashing the ROM to see if it was possibly a bad flash...

Wipe data/factory reset, 3x and then flash the ROM again and see what happens..

For those of you having problems with installing apps from the Market, try flashing [link removed] via ClockworkMod3. Let me know if it works for you.

Edit: see post 196 for an explanation of why app installs fail.

Thank you

This rom is great. my only disappointment was loosing my smiley face button, but that option is fixed! IMO, this is the best rom out now. Props 2 u ragnarokx 4 taking a really good rom (trulyepic), and making it great.

u da man.

Fixed app install problem in market

I got off the TrulyEpic Rebirth Beta ROM and went back to TrulyEpic Rebirth 1.2 ROM.

Before I changed the ROMs, I formatted from RFS to EXT4.

Formatting to EXT4 filesystem and using the 1.2 ROM - I'm now able to update apps and install from the market!

I'm not sure if it was a problem with Beta ROM or because I didn't format to EXT4 when I was running the Beta ROM.

It was the file system. I know I had already changed the file system but I had to reload the stock rom because I was coming from eclair which must have reset the file system so when I loaded the 1.2 rom after that it was the wrong file system. I found this out when I went to open clockwork it made me change the filesystem first. Thx for looking into this so quickly. Gonna play now! =)

First, Thank you for all your work, I remember reading when you were beginning so the jump in knowledge is great, and the responses to all the questions is awesome.

I wanted to jump in on the Bluetooth issues above. I have tried pairing with 3 models, 2 worked, one doesn't. And it works on hubby's stock Epic so not the Plantronics, its my phone. No big deal, but looks picky on pairing.

Email - mine would not work, so I went to K-9 - works great, like it better, so look there

Battery Mod Warning - my phone has been running great. Tried to install, had issues, had to reboot. Decided to try again - my phone is screwed, so my suggestion is NOT to install. I had to reboot through Clockwork, it just kept looping. Whenn it finally came up, reading very wrong from where I started or it drained the hell out of battery, don't know. I am deleting and might have to completely wipe and reload rom, its acting that bad.

So will be waiting for battery mod from you as noted above.

Can anyone please direct me to a way where i can start the process of rooting to this from the beginning please?
I am a Mac user.

Please help.

wish I could understand what you guys were talking about- would love to root my phone for TrulyEpic but I need a step by step guide- does one exist?
