[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

Flashed to TER v1.5 last night, all good, backup restore went great, downloaded the pre-release "Yellow" Wifi Tether.

One problem, tried press-and-hold search key to initiate Voice Search, but got no love.

Went into Applications, cleared defaults on Voice Search, press-and-hold, and there we go, all fixed.

Seems to have been the only snag.

I'm not really digging the shutdown animation, requesting .zip to revert, pretty please?

Okay, I'm feeling nice today...

Here's a bonus too....

I am still new to the whole rooting rom thing the wifi tether thing hit me last nite... It started when I used the fix link and got the looped force close... All I did to fix it was wipe and reflashed everything then did the wifi tether fix link that was posted I have had no issues since. I am wondering why sometimes after I restart after clockwork I have no battery left or sometimes after quick boot I get the same thing but it is not all the time just sometimes.

Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapata

I had 1.2 and upgraded to 1.5 and everything went great! The backup and restore was awesome! My only issue is the youtube app fc's on me now. I have cleared data, cache unintalled, etc. Any ideas?

They are located embedded inside the AMLauncher but seeing how I'm a nice guy and all....

TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 official wallpapers (For Your Eyes Only, this file will self destruct/implode ) ;)

Dude, not only do you Rock, but you really Fracking Rock!

On this topic, is there an actual list somewhere with the shutdown animations that are compatible with EXT4?

Hi. Great ROM and install went great. My question; after unzipping the stock apps.zip file where do I place the .APK files on the SD card? And how do I install them? Thanks in advance.

You can place them anywhere you like. Example.

Create a folder on your sdcard/Stock Apps

Throw them in there so its nice and neat.

Grab Astro from the Market and use that to install them directly from your sd card.

Superb, appreciate you providing the restore and the un-restore in case we change our minds (thinking of this and the Bonsai Font).

Just flashed, rebooted and now feels so much more cohesive startup-to-shutdown, thanks.

Also a pro-tip for you frequent flashers, I don't know if this is common practice or if there's a "better" way, but here's what I do to keep things quick and organized.

I simply use a folder on the SD Card called "Aaa_mods", so it floats to the top of the list in CWM3, keeps me from scrolling more than I have too.

Last thing: What are the reboot/recovery app/widgets on the screenshot in the OP?

I was looking into this myself, and the QuickBook/Recovery i think are the apps added in the SDCard by the 1.5 installation.
Unless im wrong, i haven't messed aroudn with it, because i don't know what do with em, even though the name states it :p.

Reboot Manager from the Market (paid)

Quickboot from Market (free) does the same job but the shortcuts/widgets aren't as nice IMO.

Bottom line either of these saves your hardware buttons from abuse from frequent flashers into recovery (CWM).

Paul - Did what you suggested. Sprint apps installed fine. Samsung apps wouldn't install. Got kicked out of Astro when I tried. Used Explorer and got message "not installed". Any ideas?

You can use the included Estrongs file explorer (on your SD card in the app folder) to move the Samsung apks to /system/app - then reboot.

Danke, purchased Reboot Manager just to have the ability to reboot without doing a full power cycle.

Mucho appreciated.

For anyone doing the same, there is an included (ugly!) bar *widget*, but the (pretty!) icons are *shortcuts*.

Long-press home-screen, select Shortcuts, scroll to Reboot Manager (you did purchase it first, right?), then select from: Reboot, Fast Reboot, Recovery, FastBoot, Power Off, or Selector functions.

I use Reboot Manager on and off and like it as well. It was actually developed by a dev on XDA, which is how I first heard about it.

i use terminal emulator and just type in su then reboot or reboot recovery =P makes me feel more official

Oh ya? Well I use vol up+camera+power for reboot and vol down+camera+power for recovery. So there =P

umm ummm can't think of anything ...... Darn to think I paid a couple bucks... Still my shortcuts look "trick" .... Thats the way I roll =P

Problems with font, and rebooting

So first problem: I flashed the Mini Theme v1.5, but the font is not the same one shown in the picture... is that supposed to be that way? If not, how can I get that font?

Secondly: Last night my phone died and I accidentally powered it on again, where it got stuck in a loop turning on.
Later, when I charged it, all the applications were gone, a lot of things had ben reset, and now applications that aren't actually there keep force closing.
To get an application to work, I have to install it TWICE from the market.
This is still happening even after I flashed Truly Epic v1.5 an hour or so ago. I was on v1.1 before that.

Any thoughts? Try doing the Clean Install version? It's rather annoying.

Ok... so I'm taking the plunge and going from 1.2 to 1.5...
When I went to 1.2, I reinstalled all my apps/data by restoring a backup - I've since read that's not a good thing to do since you're changing underlaying file systems. Probably why I was eating batteries.

So I plan to go to 1.5 Clean and do it right (UGH!)

Is there a better way in the future to swap roms and reinstall everything?? The only thing I don't like about the process is the tedious reinstalls...
There has GOT to better way....
