Ok... so I'm taking the plunge and going from 1.2 to 1.5...
When I went to 1.2, I reinstalled all my apps/data by restoring a backup - I've since read that's not a good thing to do since you're changing underlaying file systems. Probably why I was eating batteries.

So I plan to go to 1.5 Clean and do it right (UGH!)

Is there a better way in the future to swap roms and reinstall everything?? The only thing I don't like about the process is the tedious reinstalls...

i used titanium to back up my apps, and only restore data as needed. Sorry about the texts, titanium wont do that...

launcher pro can back up your home screens and will make a back up that you can restore after you restore your apps.

I did loose my battery mod. I'm wondering what is included in the mini theme 1.7? I've searched this thread for mini theme 1.7 but it doesn't seem to like 1.7......

If the ROM doesn't support the backup and restore feature like TER/Bonsai/midNIGHT then Android Setup Wizard should deal with all your apps and settings. As far as personal info like text/contacts/call logs you can use MyBackup (texts/call logs) or Titanium Backup. I would suggest spending the few bucks for the paid versions to get their fullest capabilities.

Thats about the best you can do for making your swapping of ROMs and data easy.

Did the upgrade tonight from 1.2 to 1.5, all went well. Only thing I have found is Sprint Nav & TV did not re-install but the football & nascar did, strange! Is it safe to run the sprint pack again or will I lose football and nascar due to the phone saying trulyepic instead of sprint, like when we went to theme 1.5?



Update: So after reading page 1, I read the samsung app restore post, then I also realized my files folder is gone. So in order to get these back the install process is different (download the samsung/sprint file and place the files into the folder specified on page 1) than with 1.2ter. Is it possible to get the my files folder without having to re-install twlauncher?

All Sprint and Samsung apps are now in one zip, which is not made for Clockwork. You can unzip the file on your computer, pick and choose whichever apps you like and place them on your SD card. Sprint apps will self-install when selected in any file manager. Samsung apps (like MyFiles) need to be moved to /system/app. If you need a file manager to move the Samsung apps, there is one in the "app" folder on your SD card call Estrongs (which can deal with root level folders like /system/app).

I changed to this method of reinstalling stock apps so you can select exactly, and only, the ones you want.

EDIT: Reinstalled from apk on the web and it works fine.

Just flashed this rom on my epic. Whenever I do anything (like press the home button) it will freeze, then do one short vibrate, pause, then 3 very short vibrates. It will do this a couple of times then show the boot screen and it starts all over again. Any idea on what went wrong?

Try wiping and installing the Clean Version of 1.5.

Installed Estrong, thanks for the heads up. I will worry about the sprint nav tonight.

So when I did the backup prior to the 1.5 upgrade it took a lot of space from my sd card, can I delete that backup file now 1.5 is running good? If so is it the file in the clockwork backup folder? I am assuming the file in the bonsai backup foler is from the 1.2 to 1.5 upgrade backup and restore.

Installed 1.5 a couple days ago. I really like it, and it seems a bit more stable.

I can't seem to get gtalk to work. It opens, but says it can't connect to the server. The network connection on the phone is fine. Anyone else having this problem?

Edit: well, I cycled the wifi and 4g radios, and it's working now.

I had to flash this 1.5 ROM clean install twice, before I can could get it stable enough. Yes, I followed the instructions to a T.

1st Flash: Everything worked except Wireless Tether. The fix was to uninstall it, install the latest version, then in CWM run "Fix permissions". (I tried everything else from suggestions on another thread) All was well until I flashed Mini Theme v1.7 from CWM. Many apps FC'd and no matter what I tried nothing fixed. (cleared cache, fixed perms, reinstalled, etc.)

2nd Flash: No theme this time. Took me an hour to get Wireless Tether stable. No FC of any apps, but now WiFi refuses to work. So far, I've only removed that Wifi app that comes with this ROM (not sure what it's function was for), but still a no go on the WiFi.

I don't want a 3rd flash, because having Wireless Tether (infrastructure mode) stable is more important to me than WiFi ... but still, I'd like to get it working.

Any suggestions?

How many backups do you have on your SD card? it's a good idea to always have at least one just in case.

If you're not sure which folder to delete to get rid of a backup, you can download ROM Manager and it will have a Manage Backups options.

You could try Flashing your modem again.

Today I will be doing various testing of the Mini Theme v1.7. I would like to make sure the claims of various FC's isn't related to the theme.

I will be performing various flashings from TER 1.2 to TER 1.5 using both methods. Full version and Clean installing Mini Theme v1.7 after each. I will also do a full scratch and install from Eclair 2.1>Froyo>convert to EXT4/CWM3>TER 1.5 Clean Install w/Mini Theme v1.7 and post my results.

So Paul/Rag, time to beat the dead horse. Did the clean install and am still having the issues with tether. It seems though that the times it reboots, it does so after the Hotspot activation. It will also occasionally lock up while stopping tether. Well, not lock up, but will keep spinning the thinking icon and not return user control to the app. I can hit home and leave and do my thing, but going back to it after a few minutes and it's still turning it's gears...

Could this have anything to do with the fact that I did NOT install the sprint apps, namely the Sprint Hotspot? I wouldn't think so but I'm just throwing it out there.

And now the cheeky bastard is working for me... Well, I'm on 1.5 un-themed, time to go try and jack things up with some themes and add-ons! Wish me luck!

Sprint Hotspot was never removed in any of the TER versions to my knowledge.
