[ROM] VCRom v007

I'm getting random reboots. I tend to get them from the Android Market while trying to download Titanium Backup.

*Update*

I think this might be related to the download icon? It reboots when that animation starts.

So sorry to ask, pretty new to the Android Dev community, what config are you asking for? Sure I can manage if I know what to grab.

Just meaning how you installed VCRom.

Did you wipe data?
Did you try to a part of another rom (such as legorom)?

Ah I see. I did a restore to default wipe, cache wipe, and delvik wipe. Used your vc006.zip and flashed that from custom rom.

I have narrowed it down to the install animation by process of elimination. Everything else seems fine.

I'm assuming it is the overclock and your phone cannot handle it. I will revert the speed to 600mhz in 007.

I thought that too. I tried downloading Overclock Widget but that...crashed :(.

Weird cause I can get my CPU up too 824 stable on any other release.

I'm wondering if this is related to the videos drivers. I feel like they're crashing because my phone still works and the touch screen is still responsive but the video comes back all distorted.

Any ideas why this happens? Why does the system send a kill signal?

This is from a factory reset wipe, flashed to vc006, rebooted, and tried to install any app from market. That was exactly my steps.

Also, this has nothing to do with the CPU being overclocked as I run 800MHZ all the time when using my phone.

So, I upgraded my phone from v5 to v6 earlier... (nandroided v5 first - just to be safe...)... I loaded v6 over top of v5... (probably shouldn't have) it did hang on first boot (ran an adb reboot and had it boot right on the 2nd try.

I suspect that something was consuming cpu... but I couldn't see anything with spare parts... I had occupied my son's time a little earlier in the evening letting him play tic tac toe, and fruit Ninja...

Fruit ninja freaked out after a while and fc'd...

Also, I noticed that after he'd played for a while, my phone had gotten fairly warm... and stayed fairly warm after I didn't use it for a chunk of time, and then after plugging it in, it seemed to stay warm as well...

I just downgraded back to my stock nandroid from zvc... and think I'm going to leave it there over night... I need to test a little more to see if I can figure out what's going on when running the other kernel.

I could see my kernel jumping between 245 mhz and 748 mhz... (on setcpu)...

Again, not sure what to think...

Hey zefie...
Just updated to v6... Like the black theme, but however, some text is black on a black BG... do you think you can change that in v7? Thanks.

Please elaborate so I know which "some text" to change :P

Zefie,
I've caught this error in the act:

No clue, I just opened the market, installed the E*TRADE app you tried, and it installed correctly and launched.

That logcat says:
E/PackageManager( 2095): Couldn't create temp file for downloaded package file.

Perhaps the download was corrupted?

A picture is worth a thousand words...

Would make sense if they are part of the framework res since I don't remember the text being white in the other themes...

or they just hacked the apks. everything except the clock color so far is in framework-res but for some reason the clock color is still in services.jar so there is a level of hacking APKs.

I wanted to put in standard smilies but they are in Qmage format in the mms apk so >.>

Who knows the whole android system is a flaming mess lol

I just picked that download at random. It happens with all downloads from the market. I can assure you that not all the downloads corrupt. And for the whole system to receive a kill signal from a corrupt download is not likely IMHO.

There is something up with the rom I think. I have flashed back to a stock V11 backup and downloaded and installed everything fine.

I then tested out my CPU by flashing a custom kernel and overclocked it to 824MHZ and ran Quadrant about 10 times with no crashes. I then played a couple of rounds of Angry Birds which played flawless. Also, installs still work.

Weird huh?

gonna wipe my data and try from clean..

somehow my /data has prevented all of the errors everyone has found in the previous versions.

Even 001 works with my nandroid restore lol.

Edit: sorry man idk just wiped data, set up google account, synced, accepted market TOS, downloaded etrade painfully over 3g, installed it, and launched it.

You aren't using a legorom theme are you?
