[ROM][ZVJ] 2.3.3 DanteRom v4 [UPDATE] 10/14/2012

Fixed it. After starting DanteRom for the first time, you must open SuperSU and update the binaries (should be an automatic popup) then make sure that it is enabled. I finally figured this out after 4 reflashes of DanteRom. After enabling SuperSU, you can check if it has root access by going to the terminal and typing su and hit enter. The $ should change to a #. I don't know why one phone played nice but the other didn't, but I'm just glad that I didn't brick my phone trying to fix it.

bluetooth

does this ROM have a proper bluetooth stack?

i'm trying to pair with a device and can't - error is something like 'HID device is not supported by this phone'

I think DanteROM's Bluetooth stack is the stock Gingerbread Bluetooth stack. It probably doesn't support EVERY Bluetooth profile, and I guess the Human Interface Device "HID" profile (used for mice, keyboards, joysticks, etc.) may not be supported since those sorts of things aren't typically used with phones. I don't think that there are other stacks available so I think you're stuck with the stock stack.

Re: bluetooth

thanks for the info guys - unfortunately it leaves me lost and unable to find a solution

i'm trying to connect to a bluetooth ODB 2 reader (car diagnostics) which, according to the manufacturer, isn't even an HID device, yet my phone is telling me it is, then fails to connect

did allot of research on this and indeed it looks like a shortcoming of 2.3.3

Re: bluetooth

My (ELM327) Bluetooth OBDII dongle works fine with DanteROM. It also used to work fine on my Optimus S with Froyo-based (Android 2.2) ROMs. My Bluetooth OBDII dongle looks like this.

I'm not sure what kind of device my Optimus thinks the OBDII dongle is. The connection icon in the Bluetooth settings isn't intuitive (like headphones) so I don't know if it's the icon used for HID devices. The connection icon looks like the one on the bottom-right of this photo. I think it's probably the connection icon for a Bluetooth serial port connection.

Could it be your OBDII dongle? Does your OBDII dongle work with anything else, like a PC?

Re: bluetooth

@Razz - although i haven't tested it, i'm sure it works with a PC - it's also allot smaller

he's a good guy and very helpful

i may upgrade my phone if i decide to keep the reader, but i'm thinking that i may be better off with a logger

Hey been running V5 Beta (md5: f22b43cb01dd43b21a2b2794c3a2e8c8) for many months now. Been mostly rock solid, had some initial problems with the play store crashing on any update or app install, etc. Fixed eventually after many installing flashable new play stores and forgotten many other attempts.

Now having a problem that no matter how much space I free, upon reboot it shows near 0 space and everything crashes. Uninstall things, clear caches space opens up, reboot 0 space left.

Going to nandroid and titanium then wipe and re-flash v5. Has there been any new updates since the beta with md5 above? Is this a known issue that I am having?

Great rom otherwise, thanks!! :)

Okay, I am all rooted with ZVJ and I would like to flash the Dante ROM. After downloading and flashing DanteRom.v4.signed.zip are there any other patches, etc. needed for this ROM to function properly, anything to look out for? Downloading the ROM is taking 40 min, is that normal? Please excuse me for my ignorance, this the first phone I have rooted and ROMed. Also, i am planning on handing this over to my mom to use and I imagine I will need to revert back to stock rom in order to activate the phone on another MVNO carrier, could you post a link to tutorial on reverting back to the stock rooted ROM. Is it just boot into recovery and restore?
Thanks

Edit: nevermind. My bad for not reading carefully, I need to apply a baseband patch Thanks for great ROM!

I'm having problem with YouTube not playing any video with message "Unable to connect to server, touch to retry".
Pandora doesn't work, keep skipping to next song and ads.
Google play music "Couldn't prepare instant mix, Please try again."
I tried factory reset and reflash ROM but still no luck.
Can't really remember if it was working the first time I install this ROM or not. Because I was busy removing lots of system apps to trim down resources. I plan to use this as a mp3 player and clock alarm only. It is unactivated phone.
Something wrong with network settings? It was working fine with LG stock android 2.3 then I downgrade from MVJ, then root and install this ROM.
Thanks for any help!

Other than this falling on deaf ears, I went ahead with the Dante ROM. It seems to work very well, however it does seem to use quite a bit of battery.
Edited for stupidity, lol!

As far a battery use, one problem may have been my initial use after downloading the ROM and experimenting with it( ya think?). Battery life has pretty much stabilized and the device is working well!
A Belated thanks to the Developer!

More or less it has ceased. I am on my 3rd device since I was on the optimus s. But that doesn't mean I have forgotten you all.

<----Dante beta v5

Sorry I never got an official v5 out. I might have some time soon to do one final epic release. But I make no promises. I loved this device and forum but it is very close to time for me to let it go.
