Rooting my droid is starting to get frustrating

Ive been using this video

and when I launch odin and put the pda in I press start and it loads about 1/4 and says failed, i have debugging on i have developer mode on and im on download mode i have no idea what is happening

This is what you should be using to rot your S4.

Only use this is you HAVE NOT updates your S4 with Samsung's newest update that adds SD card app support. That update breaks root access.

As for if you updated, go into settings and see if you can move apps to your SD card.

It should be under the heading 'Storage'

What did i do wrong

Try a factory reset of your phone first. That way you can start from scratch.
