S4 mini showing sd card damaged and wallpaper gone

[AC Question]

I have S4 mini.From past few days some files stored in my sd card were shown by an icon of a lightning bolt (trying to give an exact image). Today suddenly my phone switched off and when i switched it on there was a notification ongoing damaged sd card requires formatting and data will be lost. when i tried to open, it showed some system si app working and i stopped it. After that my screen wallpaper also disappeared. Don't know what to do is it necessary to format card and is there no way i can save my data.
