Samsung Note 3 disconnecting WIFI constantly (fix)

Here is something I found on "Drip".
I am lucky and don't have a problem. At the end is an email for the guy.
Hope it helps.... seems a little generic to me??? Good luck!

A new email came in about a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 low Wi-Fi speed problem. The message reads, “I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. For some reason, I cannot get my Wi-Fi speed to go higher than 54MB. Is there a way to boost the speed of my connection?”
Possible Ways to Fix the Note 3 Low Wi-Fi Speed Issue

Here are some tips that may boost the speed of your Note 3 when browsing the Internet:
1. Disconnect Unused Devices
If there are other devices connected in your Wi-Fi like computer, laptops, tablets or Smartphones, disconnect them whenever they are not in use.
2. Restart Router and Device
Restart your router and Galaxy Note 3. If the connection is still very slow, manually remove the pairing of your device to your router and then register it again. You may also reset the configuration of your router to refresh its settings. After that, register all your devices to your router starting with the Galaxy Note 3.
3. Check Internet Connection
Attempt to connect another device to the router and test if the data transfer is still slow. If the transfer is slower than usual, then, the problem might be in your ISP. Call your network’s Customer/Technical Support Group to report the issue.
4. Check Area for Interference
Thick walls or other radio emitting devices may have a hand in the Note 3 low Wi-Fi speed problem. Get your device closer to the router and see if there is an improvement. Transfer your router in another location as well to test if there are some forms of interference or factors blocking its normal operations in the area where it is situated.
5. Disable Wi-Fi Power Saving Mode
Disabling the Wi-Fi Power Saving Mode is commonly used to solve an unstable Wi-Fi connection. Try deactivating it to test whether it will solve the problem or not. If this fails, put the Wi-Fi Power Saving Mode back to its original settings.
5. Remove Rogue Apps
The problem may stem out from faulty or rogue apps. Start your Note 3 in Safe Mode and check its Internet speed if there is an improvement. If the issue persists, the problem may already be with the hardware, specifically with its antenna. Bring it to an authorized Smartphone or Samsung technician for check-up or repair if this is the case.
But when improvement is seen while in Safe Mode, that means it only has something to do with erratic third-party apps or corrupted system files. These can be easily remedied by performing Factory Reset. Be sure to backup though before this.

Hi all, i have test out something about WEP and WPA router setting.
1) if i connect my note3 wifi to my WEP router it alway got wifi drop n reconnect issue. (Im using 1Mbps package only)
2) if i connect my note3 to my WPA router this wifi drop is disappear. (This is 4G, speep can up to 7.2mbps)

Note: im very basic user, dont know wat is wpa/wep. Is that this wifi drop issue is because of this? Or is because i have this issue when connect to poor wifi 1mbps vs 7.2mbps?

Since most people who use wifi use wpa for security, most people with dropping signal are likely to already be on wpa.

So that's not going to solve anything.

Wep encryption can be cracked in a couple seconds and allow hackers to steal your personal information.
Wpa is far tougher to crack

Just wan do a update n sharing. I hv change my security to wpa2-personal. My wifi drop issue solve. Hope this help.

Hi,

I had this problem till some days ago (Note 3 and all of Jellybean Wifi problem) , but i solved it.
Its really simple
>you have to know this problem is because of ***** Google ***** and if you filter this on you router means your wifi modem or by App on your phone your problem 100% will fix.
you can chose one of these >>>
Type 1 > go to your modem and find -filter- tab , its various in every modem and after that find -filter type- and change it to -URL filter- ,after that paste --- http://clients3.google.com/--- into -filter list- and save and reset your modem , it surely fixed .
Type 2 > find some app for your phone to filter hole of your phone to not to access Google

the problem was there with my sgs3, and after lot of permutation and combination the setting
I found working in sgs3 -->wifi-->modify network config is as follwing

proxy setting = None
IP setting = Static
IP address = 192.168.1.3 ( netgear wifi router)
Gateway = 192.168.1.1 in

NPL =24
DNS1 = 8.8.4.4
DNS 2 =4.4.4.4
This is the way I got my wifi connetion and net .. main point is the ISP provider ip address if one gets correct than the problems is solve

thanks

This solution didn't help me so I started a live chat with a Samsung Tech. This was their solution and so far it's working.

Valerina: 1 Power the device off (remove and re-insert the battery).
Valerina: 2 Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
Valerina: 3 When the device vibrates; release only the Power key.
Valerina: 4 When the Android system recovery menu displays; release the Volume Up and the Home key.
Valerina: 5 Navigate with the Volume keys to the Wipe cache partition option and press the Power key to select.
Valerina: 6 press the Power key to reboot system now.

The only issue I had with this is that when turned off, the phone sticks to poor connections longer than it should. For example, I have a wifi router in my office. I was in another office prior to walking into mine, which also has a router. My phone wouldn't switch from the wifi router in other office for my router. It had a terribly week connection and I had to turn the wifi on my phone off and on to get my phone to switch to my router...

Thank you for posting this :) Very helpful.

This just started happening to me the past two days. Wiping the cache fixed it! Thank you for posting.

*#0011# change wifi menu setting to off, This worked thank you.

it did not work for me. I still got disconnected from a strong WiFi. On one occasion, I watched as the device immediately reconnected, and it took some time to get an IP address. So, the suggestion of using a static IP address makes sense. Perhaps the device will disconnect just as often with a static address, but may recover immediately, so it may pass unnoticed.

My device was disconnecting fairly often, but now it only does so once a day or once every second day. What appears to have helped a lot was disabling the Auto network switch. While this was enabled (as default). the device was hesitating between WiFi and 4G, not getting any single one right. After turning it off, even if a disconnection happens, I hardly notice it, unless I'm loading a page from the Internet at that very moment.

There is also another WiFi switch which I turned off: Scanning always available. This allows the Location Service to "scan for networks even when WiFi is off". I'm not sure how WiFi helps with location, for example, how would my home WiFi know where I live ? Turning it off seems to have helped, but I'm not yet sure it made much difference. The only side effect is that when I'm in a car and looking at Google Maps, I need to turn this flag back On again, otherwise there is no location informatioin. Again, I don't understand how WiFi gets involved when the device asks nearby Telco towers about the location.

A third switch I turned off relates to the Power Saving mode. I turned off the "CPU power saving" flag. I just speculated that the device might have a lot of things to do at the same time, so it may lose track of WiFi. I'm not using any CPU-intensive apps. So far, this flag made no discernable different, so I might turn in on again.

The only thing I haven't tried yet is deleting the partition. I might do that, if it gets worse. For the moment, it is only annoying, to know I have a powerhouse of electroinics, but is less stable on the WiFi than half dozen older devices I got at home. It behaves similarly at my work WiFi. The peculiar thing is that the disconnection is not due to radio reception being out of tune. I had some older phones which could hardly get any WiFi signal at a certain spot at the workplace. I only pass there for short periods of time, and Note 3 stays connected and gets data from the WiFi.
