Samsung's UI will always be better than stock

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

100 percent sure. I have my BT headset at work connected and hop in my truck for lunch.. it connects to my truck and is still connected to my headset.

It's a Bluetooth 5 feature.
Yeah but I'm asking is it connecting to stream music to your truck or connecting as a headset to your truck because those are different Bluetooth profiles. If someone calls you, does it let you choose between answering on your truck or your headset? Technically, you could do that before Bluetooth 5 so I don't think it's a purely Bluetooth 5 feature because my Samsung phones have done it for a while now. I've never successfully gotten it to work with a stock android phone.

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

I'll take a pic next time I'm in my truck to show the dual connections.
Sounds good. Appreciate it. This is one of my big issues with stock and if it's gone, I'd be one step closer to trying it out lol. I'm itching to get something new.

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

Stock Android was definitely boring to me.
Until I installed custom ROMs with features and a theme engine.

I prefer some google apps over Samsung, like the calendar and gmail, but I always use a theme in my Samsung phones.

I don't see the lag and slowness that stock enthusiasts say are on Samsung phones either.

I've had Motorola, stock, and Samsung phones, performance is exactly the same to me.

I wonder if some people simply have a bias and that makes them experience things to support their bias.

I have no bias. I am not loyal to any carrier, manufacturer or device.

I will buy whatever suits me best, period.

I had 3 note 8s (one slowed severely after 3 days with barely any apps and was still slow after a wipe, 2nd had faulty ram and only had a Max of 5gb instead of 6 and third had too many stutters and lag for me at that price along with frame drops). They're fast on benchmarks and speed tests but in everyday use the 2xl was just better to me.

Funny thing with them is actually I see the big ones push note 8 as King basically but use the pixel as their daily driver. I push the note 8 myself as the best android phone for 2017 but I would still choose the pixel any other day of the week.
That's crazy that you had so many problems with your notes! Faulty memory? Now your gonna have me checking to make sure I have 6gb everyday! Lol but that sucks that you had those issues on 3 different devices. I'm pleased that my note has been pretty much as fast as it was on day 1. The battery started draining fast with the November update but has since settled but now yesterday just got the December update! So will see how that goes. Everyone who loves Apple and Pixel champion quick updates but in my experience more often than not updates being headaches. At least at first.

I think pixels seem to be awesome devices and some people just prefer a no nonsense stick to the script phone experience. Some of us note and s line users have become accustomed to having an absurd amount of options and choices that often times in the past have led to the slowing down of our devices with lag, stutters, hiccups and freezes (although this does happen on apple and pixels /nexus devices too). It happens more on Samsung devices in the past. Since the s7 edge I think the degradation of performance has been remedied for the most part, at least in my experience. The s7 edge, note 7, s8 plus and note 8 have all worked relatively flawless except the random but not frequent hiccup. The only issues I've had is the darn battery drain after updates! Still can't figure that out.

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

if Google stock android is really good then how come Samsung is number one? Google stock android is not even in the list in the best selling smart-phones. as you can see below. Most people prefer TouchWiz which people call lag, stutter.
just show's how over hyped stock android is. maybe 1% of users like stock android in the world i guess. Number's Don't lie.

Sales and OS version are not related, at all.

^This.

Samsung is number one because they sell phone models that range from the $100 J3 to the $1000 Note8. Not everyone can afford Notes so they settle for somewhere in between that if they choose Samsung. They're also more available widely. Motorola and HTC are hardly present in my country, and I haven't seen a locally sold Pixel ever here. But Samsungs abound.

Agree, 99% of the people don't even know or care about the OS version etc. All they know is, that this Galaxy phone is good since they see so much advertising and also sales rep do push and recommend them. Also helps that Samsung is a well known brand. Not saying that Samsung phones are bad, they are great but the sales has nothing to do with it's running touchwiz, stock or any other version.

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

I'm weird in that I typically opt to use the manufacturer's apps as opposed to 3rd party. Like on an iPhone i ALWAYS use Apple apps. I do the same thing on my note with the exception of apps that sync data from Google like calendar, photos etc. I do still use the Samsung calendar app. I'd likely use the internet app as well if I could get it to sync bookmarks from chrome.

You need to install the Samsung Chrome App on the PC side of Chrome to make the sync.

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

When you setup Samsung Internet and sign into your account in the browser it will ask and provide the url for the Chrome extension.

Apple didn't give the option of a different default browser or other app. You don't choose Safari. That is done for you.

Mail, messaging, and others, what app to open based on a url link. Wallpaper and desktop folder arrangement are small but personal too.

The best experience for has recently become my Note 8 with the modded Pixel 2 launcher from XDA that brings in the google now panel that I’ve come to rely on for my tech news.

What does the modded Pixel 2 launcher bring that Nova doesn't? Nova already has the Google Panel. Just curious.

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

I'm a simple guy. Don't want all the extras from nova though I do have nova set up similarly

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

Security updates. Samsung lags around 5 months behind here and that's absolutely unacceptable

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

why is it such a big deal? stock experience is kind of boring. take out all the fun stuff and give you only the basic's. Basic phone with a heavy price tag..
OLED screen is cheap aswell.
Don't you think Google is getting abit greedy now?

this is comparing Pixel 2 XL to Note 8 or s8+

I'm not sure what people see in TouchWiz.

I for one can't understand paying a premium price for a "flagship" phone that doesn't have the latest version of Android.

I dislike the bloatware as well. Again, if I'm paying a premium, I shouldn't have to sacrifice performance and storage.

For me, I don't care about having the latest OS right out of the box. The features on the device are more important to me.

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

to me having the most features is also important, you can have so much fun with your device.
i think Samsung flagship phone has more features then any other OEM.
new android updates just copy Samsung features which they had so many years ago. look's like Google is playing catch up.

Re: i don't understand why people like Stock Android so much?

Not the change the topic but it's related.

Is Samsung's software (or anyone else for that matter) a better experience than stock Android in tablet form?

In other words, does the form factor change your opinion about stock Android?
