Actually, it does affect you. All insurance policy premiums and deductibles (particularly medical insurance) are increased to account for insurance fraud. The price of all merchandise is increased to offset shoplifting. The cost of cable TV is increased to account for those who obtain it fraudulently. Millions of people have lost their jobs, lost their homes, and/or lost a significant chunk of their life savings because people fraudulently overstated their income on mortgage loan applications or loan officers fraudulently increased the applicant's income to allow the loan to be accepted so they could make their commission. It just goes on....and it affects everyone.
Start paying my bills and Ill do what you say.
I also collect unemployment for the state I worked in and payed into it.
well... you ARE on unemployment, apparently. so, technically, we ARE paying your bills.
so, if you're a man of your word, do as we say now.
thanks!![]()

Well, not really. I won't presume to know where all the money for unemployment cones from, but much of it is payed in by the employers.
Anyways .....you guys are great. If I break my phone right now, I'm adding insurance and getting another new phone. And that's that! Its the way the cookie crumbles my friends. Lol. And I'm for sure certain I'm not alone.

You have made it very clear that you have no respect for right and wrong, or what could potentially be illegal. You seem to believe that the role of an advisor at AC is to encourage people break or get around rules and laws when possible.
Thanks for the additional information and clarification.
I had my phone on my lap and got out of my car, the phone fell about two feet onto the cement driveway. When i picked it up i looked at what appeared to be a harmless fall...I was wrong. The screen cracked!!! I've only had the phone for one week. I just came from the droid incredible and dropped it at least ten HARD times without any cracking!! What is up with this? Doesn't google think about normal wear and tear of phones when they make them. They know they are going to get dropped, it's inevitible when you depend on your phone as much as we do.
My question is this, has anyone had this problem and has it been resolved by verizon. I did not purchase insurance. Is it worth fighting with verizon over and/or how much is a replacement screen??
Speak for yourself and yourself only.Alot of people here are acting Holier than Thou.. if you all broke your brand new toy and it was an accident and didn't have insurance, you'd be coming up with an excuse to exchange it and have VZ eat the costs.
Verizon is worth something ridiculous like $300 billion. They care nothing for you.. they dont care if you're a good person, or a bad person. All they care about is nickle and diming you to death with stupid fee's and plan features. They lock stuff down and are generally here to take as much money as you'll give them, so why not try and get them to replace the phone?
Every single one of you here would do it if you felt you could get away with it.... I know I would.
Speak for yourself and yourself only.
Wow, keep trying. I made no mention of his broken phone. I suggested that the OP purchase a brand new phone and purchase insurance for that brand new phone. I'm sorry that suggestion wasn't more clear to you.I wouldn't need to scam them, I dont have a consumer account with them, but if I did? You bet. Carriers are evil.. signing a contract with one is choosing the lesser of the evil for your needs.
How many of these threads have there been throughout the years? I've been on phone forums since way back in the Sprint PPC6700 days and I see them all the time..
You yourself gave him a suggestion.. if you feel like cheating VZ out of a new phone is wrong, then why even offer it? Unless I'm reading it incorrectly, you're suggesting he buy a new Nexus, add insurance on it and the old device, then warranty exchange it, no?
Actually, the Asurion terms ARE explicit - there is no gray area. The Asurion policy states:
A. COVERAGE
In exchange for premium paid when due, we agree to provide the coverage as stated
in this Policy, provided that any covered damage or loss to the Covered Property is
sustained while your coverage is in effect.
For ANY insurance policy, the insurer accepts the risks to pay for or replace merchandise provided you are enrolled in the policy and continue to pay the premiums. No insurance policy covers damage or loss prior to enrollment or outside of being enrolled.
You CAN enroll in the policy for up to 30 days after you purchase your phone, but damage is NOT covered UNTIL you enroll. By filing a valid claim, you are stating the damage occurred after enrollment, while the policy coverage is in effect. If that is not the case, you are committing fraud - no gray area involved.
It is interesting to watch how folks who do know right from wrong can actually justify to themselves that wrong actions are right in their particular case.

Either way, you really do not know what others think, or for that matter what they'd do in similar circumstances. I in fact posted what I have done in the past when something similar happened to me. That is why you really should speak for yourself and what you would do rather than projecting.
