Sim Card NOT Included?

I ordered mine over the phone this morning, and right before the order was complete the rep said ohhh wait, i have to go get your SIM information set up before i complete the order so i would most likely think that it will be shipped with my phone

That doesn't make sense. They literally don't care what SIM you get as you still have to call in to tell them what it is so it can be activated.

The sim card information will be on your receipt. You won't need to call, just activate the phone online.

Regarding SIM cards: The TB user guide says we need a PIN number from Verizon to "lock" the card. But when I pickup my TB today from a Verizon store they said they didn't have the PIN number, only the "P.U.K." code. Anyone know anything about this, how to get the PIN, etc.?

dont ask me why they said this to me, i have know idea, merely passing along some info. ... it made me feel more confident though in knowing that i should receive everything needed with my order to be fully functional

How can you activate online?

The instructions will be included with your phone. But basically you log onto your account, click on the link to "activate phone" and enter the required information.

Oh yeah, do not turn the phone on till its activated in the system. When you turn the phone on and it will automatically register on the network. Do not dial *228. This is why all the stores were having activation problems this morning. They just didn't know any better due to lack of training.

You can turn it on w/o the SIM and I imagine it'll sit there and yell at you for not having SIM installed. Would prefer to charge it and at least play around with it before activating.

You can turn it on to charge it. But you'll probably need to reboot the phone once you install the sim so that it'll activate.

Hey guys -

I was at my local corporate store around 9AM this morning. There were a few issues at-hand, including 3G connection problems, but they solved those rather quickly. The biggest surprise I found was that the reps had to go to the back and get the sim cards out of their inventory, because they were not included in the Thunderbolts box. I asked them if this would cause an issue for those who ordered online, and they all looked at eachother in horror like, "oh **** tomorrows gonna suck."

So my question is....was the sim card supposed to be packaged with the Thunderbolt? Because these employees all thought it was...

Yep mine had no SIM in it also. They just went to the back and popped one in.
