Sleep tracking on Gear s2...

I went through the S-health app and enabled the sleep tracker but it is still not working while the phone is not in the bed with me.

I went from a gear fit to a gear S2 classic and I'm not sure which I'm more disappointed in; the fact that the sleep monitor is not working as well as the gear fit or the fact that Samsung has not expeditiously corrected the problem.

For some time now I have been touting the superiority of Samsung over iphone. My must recent purchase of the gear S2 is fastly changing my opinion.

I went from a gear fit to a gear S2 classic and I'm not sure which I'm more disappointed in:
(1) the fact that the sleep monitor is not working as well as the gear fit.
(2) the fact that Samsung has not expeditiously corrected the problem or
(3) the fact that Samsung reps have little or no knowledge of the problem, nor how to correct it.

Probably the most important app I use was the sleep monitor; as it help me understand my sleep pattern and ultimately helped me to gain better sleep. All other areas of my health started getting must better once my sleep started getting better. Not having the sleep monitor work in the gear S2 classic as well as the Gear fit is beyond a major disappointment to me.

So there's nothing we have to do in the watches end? I've been trying to figure this out for the past hour.....there's not much about it yet

No, my watch just automatically tracks my sleep and then syncs with S Health after I've been up a bit and opened the S Health app. Last night was the first night I've had the update but it seemed to be spot on as far as time I went to sleep and exact on my awakening time. Breaks your sleep down into restless, light and morionless sleep if you tap on the Feel More Rested panel in the S Health app.

Yea I've figured it out. Surprisingly it doesn't drain the battery. It's nice that it automatically transfers it.

I cannot find anything that would track my sleep. My watch and sleep app software are up to date. Te only way I can track my sleep duration is inputting it manually every morning. I cannot see any sleep quality graph that I was able to have with my previous ger 2 neo>

Would any of you please be so kind and post a step by step guide on how to activate the sleep tracking?

I don't have the update yet, but select Gear S2 under Sleep Trackers in S Health.
Make sure you set your goal (Bed time and wake up time)

Thanks!
My version of S Health is as new as it can be, but it still does not know the Gear S2. My Gear S2 (Blue Tooth version Classic), seems not to be able t communicate with sleep.

On my AT&T Gear S2 3G, I have sleep tracking after the latest firmware update. My watch is paired up to my GS7E.

I'm so excited that this works! It was one of the major features that I was really missing. I had a lot of trouble getting it to work. I had the update, I had it connected in SHealth, but I couldn't get it to show. When I opened SHealth it said it was syncing sleep data, but I couldn't get detailed sleep. My phone had asked me when I woke up if I had slept the hours I did and I had said yes to that, so I had manual data in there. Once I deleted the manual data, my sleep data showed up. Which showed how crappy I slept last night, but I was expecting that.

Anyway, if you are having trouble seeing the sleep data and you have MANUAL data showing, try deleting the data.

did that and now the phone recomends the time it was sitting (without moving) on my desk until I picked it up in the morning again.

That means the phone considers this not moving time to be sleep time. But there is not quality of sleep, just a flat line.

I've owned gear fit gear s and now gear s2. I too am surprised that the software lacks sleep tracking. One of the nice free features on the other devices and one that did what it was supposed to do. the s2 does have nfc which neither the fit or gear s did. So it seems I've traded one for the other. Again i am really surprised Samsung did this. Hopefully it will be something a update can add back.

I also enjoyed the sleep tracking features of the Gear S, but it quit taking a charge because the contacts wore out.. The S2 does wireless, so that should fix that issue. I got the S2 and although it is faster, it is more difficult to use, especially for standalone texting when editing dictated responses. I don't think the bezel is that great because it takes too much physical effort to rotate. I tried the NFC out and it would not pair with my UE Megaboom. Looks like it's limited to making payments. Hate to say this but after a couple weeks of using it, I think I'm going to have to return my S2 and get a Gear S. I don't even think the S2 has enough battery to run for 24 hours in a row. That's probably why they removed the feature.

The sleep tracker does work automatically. I am a 3rd shifter, so am often napping during the day. I usually have my gear on and it records the time asleep as well as the effectiveness of the sleep.

That is the way it was with my Gear 2 Neo. does the S2 sleep tracker start by itself, or do you have to start it?
My Gear Fit started by itself, the Gear 2 Neo needed a manual start every night, but the tracking data was the same.

It starts and ends by itself. Just pull down on the top of the S Health app and it will sync for you.

I installed the update (DPG1) last night, and now I can see again, how well I slept! It even tells me the calories I burned while I was sleeping!

I like it!
