Sleep tracking on Gear s2...

I installed the update (DPG1) last night, and now I can see again, how well I slept! It even tells me the calories I burned while I was sleeping!

I like it!
Last night was the first night I used the auto sleep function, since only receiving the download yesterday.... Said I slept poor last night, lol..... which, was very accurate

I still don't get it fully with the sleep tracking. The night before last, it tracked my sleep and recorded it. This morning I tried everything to see how I slept, and could not get it to show me anything.
I have not figured out yet, how to convince the tracker to start and how to tell it to display the results of the tracking.

For me it works fine for couple of days. Now it only tracks 1 or 2 hours at every night. I don't know what happened.
I put the factory reset on my watch but the same thing ig continues.

You shouldn't have to do anything to get the watch to start tracking sleep, it's just does so automatically. In order to see your sleep results you need to be up and moving for a bit to "show" the watch you're awake, it takes a bit, then just swipe down on the S Health screen to sync with the watch. Works like a charm for me.

It worked last night, the night before it did not track at all. I will keep trying!

Got the hang of the sleep tracker now. Works pretty well, but the info I got from my Gear 2 Neo was more detailed concerning the sleep pattern. But it is what it is!

Yeah, my Pebble Time is much better at sleep detection and quality of sleep, for me at least.

I am not happy with the sleep tracking as it is now. Being automatic, it is problematic. Last night, I was asleep from 9:30pm to 4:50am. I did not wake up at all last night and yet, it is telling me that I had only been asleep for 3 hours and 46 min. The tracking of sleep results on my phone shows 3 different tracking times with hours in between as if I was awake and active during those non-sleep times.

I liked it much better then I told it when I was going to sleep and when I woke up manually so it will track the entire duration regardless if I was "awake" or not.

Well, I have to say now, that after the minor update, the sleep tracking (at least for last night) works a whole hell of a lot better! It recorded in one continuous flow and gave me what I would expect from the sleep tracking (compared to my previous gear devices). Accuracy on when I went to sleep and woke up was pretty spot on.

Now, let's just hope that last night was not a fluke. :D

I'm one of those unlucky guys that will lose his use of the Basis Peak due to recall. Good news is I'll have $234 dollars for a new watch. I own an LG G4 and really like my battery life as well as the sleep tracking feature. Will the S2 be good replacement for me? Anyone else come over from a basis?

Honestly, all of my "Smart Watches" have been Samsung devices (with the exception of the first MS Band). I looked at and researched other devices and keep coming back to Samsung.

With the firmware updates and new features being added, this watch is becoming more and more valuable to me every day. I would recommend it, but my limited ownership of other devices, you can take my thoughts as-is. :D

I think I'm having the same issue Hudsoner was having. When I go to my Gear app on my phone, go to settings, and update, the app says my software is up to date. My Gear app on my phone is version 2.2.16070451. I think this is really the up to date version. My firmware is R730VVRU1BPC1.

I don't think the firmware is actually up to date or maybe my software? How do I make sure I have the latest update?

When I try to track my sleep on s-health it keeps wanting me to manually input the data. I'm really frustrated. Is it my software that needs updating or is it a setting in S-Health? When I go to sleep tracking in S-Health it does recognize my gear as a registered sleep tracker. I'm so confused.

Thanks.

My sleep tracking works now/ It just takes a while until it gets recorded on the phone. It sometimes takes over 5 minutes to see any result of the sleep tracker.

So it appears Verizon hasn't updated there software for the gear s2 yet? Really sucks because the gear s2 is otherwise awesome when it's through a carrier.

So I cheated, I got another gear s2 (stand alone) and that one already had the update. Weird how a cheaper version already has the update while the nicer verizon version doesn't. lol.

Anyway, I've only used the sleep tracking once now through the S Health and it was ok. I woke up in the middle of the night and it even detected that my sleep was really 3 different sleeps with 2 brief wakeups.

However, the app is still way behind sleep as android. I'm going to still compare the two but I like my heart rate and noise patterns being recorded on the sleep as android and the fact that it still shares the data with s health. I also don't like how the s health won't lump my 3 sleeps as 1. Yet in contrast, I think I don't like that sleep as android doesn't detect that I woke up in between.

Anyway, that's my latest update. That and even though I have the updated version of the software for my new gear, the verizon gear will still not update. Complete silliness.

I've obviously been playing with my S2 the first 3 days much more than I will normally, but I'm not sure that Samsung has given us much more than a one day battery. My Gear Live was generally ending up with around 50% after a 16 hour day. S2 has ended first three days at around 25%, and yesterday I tried to just leave it be, and use it normally.
I've found I can significantly increase battery life if you set the mobile data setting to auto-switxh. When you're paired with the phone on Bluetooth the cellular connection on the watch is off. If the Bluetooth connection is lost the watch connect to cellular. This greatly extends battery life without compromising functions.
