So, I exchanged my Nexus...

Strange I just looked at both of them at the VZW store and the GN screen just jumps out at you while the Rezound looks very dull and muted.
That is the difference between an AMOLED screen and an LCD. Some people like the more natural colors of the LCD and think the AMOLED looks cartoonish. I would agree that the intense color saturation of the AMOLED screen looks cartoonish, however, I like that look.

Update

Wasn't quite ready to give up on the phone. Last night I flashed a 4.0.3 ROM (codename android) after running both phones phones bone stock. I left my phone in my truck today since the building I work in has RF shielding in the walls, but the parking lot gets strong 4G signal. This is what I walked out to this evening: <attachment>. Basically, same story. It lost signal for some inexplicable reason, went off in the weeds, and died.

I just flashed the leaked radios as a last ditch effort, but I'm running out of runway (and patience).

I feel really bad for the people that are having all these problems. My Nexus and my girlfriends Nexus have been nothing short of spectacular for both of us coming from a Droid X(me) and a BB Storm2(g/f). They were both stock for maybe 3 weeks and were fine then but I started getting antsy and flashed Liquid ROM and Minimalist kernel on both of the phones which only improved them more. But then my friend also has one and he constantly has no data and I can see how that would certainly get me pretty angry after the first 2 or 3 times happening. While this is no where near a "beta phone" as someone put it, to think that the first real world application of anything is going to be flawless is ridiculous and it seems maybe those might not be as knowledgeable in the tech world as others. I say this because someone who works in the tech world and/or is in it for the hobby/fun knows that the first time anything is used there is problems. Either way there is really no need to fight about these kind of things especially if two people have completely different experiences. Also whoever though that the 640,000 members of which only 250,000 are active and even less than that have GN's is a good representative of all Galaxy Nexus owners is hilarious. VZW has 107.7 million connections as of Q3 2011 so even if only 1% bought the Nexus that'd still be 1 million and there's probably only a few tens of thousands roaming around the GN forums.

i had the the nexus for almost 2 weeks, currently have a rezound. probably spent a few hours messing around with the razr.

the nexus seems to have a cartoonish color too it but i believe it beats out the rezound, but barely. i miss my nexus screen, i miss the size too, it was nice. the razr seemed horrible to me, ugly phone too. i do agree that the rezound looks a little dull compared to the nexus. the nexus colors looked vibrant almost pulsating off the screen.

but i thought the rezound had a better screen? at least when on paper? maybe i misread the reviews?

Galaxy Nexus: 4.65″ HD Super AMOLED (1280?720 resolution) – 316ppi
HTC Rezound: 4.3″ Super LCD HD (1280?720 resolution) – 342ppi
DROID RAZR: 4.3″ Super AMOLED Advanced (960?540 resolution) – 256ppi

I might flash the newer radios too. I am all but set on returning it for a Rezound. I didnt wanna root and unlock the bootloader unless I was gonna keep it. Now that I might be returning it, I might as well unlock it since it erases the storage.

And I have a RAZR to compare it to for some things. In really good to great reception areas, it post better speeds than my RAZR, so I know the chip is capable. My RAZR has probably dropped data more or the same amount of time as the G Nex, so its kind of a wash in that area.

Its in weaker areas that it stumbles. My RAZR can pick up 4G in my apt, the Nexus cant. For me to even see 4G in my apt is amazing. My RAZR goes back to 4G quicker than my G Nex in weaker reception areas. Phone reception has been a surprise for the Nexus tho. Matches or is real close to the RAZR's. And what has me going back n forth about keeping it. I updated to 4.0.2....will try the leaked 4.0.3 radios today to see if it helps..

What I will say about these different phones....if you have to try to like or enjoy a phone.....it probably isnt the phone for you, or you may wanna see what else is out there just for comparisons sake. The unlocked bootloader played no part in my comparing it to my RAZR and not necessarily my decision to keep it or not. That was supposed to be the icing on the cake. Now I will be unlocking the bootloader to see if it can perform better. Wild part is if it really does help...then what? lol.

Decisions, decisions....if all else fails...I just add my old phones back to my line, have two upgrades available and wait til some new "super phones" come out later in the year, early next year.

I flashed the 4.0.3 radios. Saw 4G for split second, hasnt been back since. 3G is better tho, so there is hope for some ppl.

I'm sending mine back and testing out a Rezound...hopefully today.

I randomly lose data and have to turn data off and on to fix. Is this what people are talking about?

Owner since day 1 if that's relevant

I think so. But, I also experienced that with the Bionic and Motorola’s "superior" radio.

This is the 3rd day with my phone and the network issues have been the worst today, now it's dropping data and it's not coming back until I toggle it. I was going to hold out for the official 4.0.3 but I may have to flash the radios myself at this point because this is a joke.

there were reviews of comparison between TFT-LCD vs AMOLED vs IPS-LCD back then..
samsung came up with SAMOLED and bragged about its brightness/contrast/view angle than LCD then LG came up with AH-IPS-LCD that raised brightness (since white is brighter, it have better contrast) and view angle so difference was PPI and bragged about it. (RGB vs pentile etc)
so samung came up with SAMOLED plus then HD SAMOLED to make up PPI.

anything over 300ppi is meaningless since its human eye limit, just like 60hz monitor vs 75hz 120hz.. 60hz is human eye limit.

I dont remember reading any article about S-TFT-LCD vs SAMOLED or retina but i do know S-TFT-LCD(8th generation) raised color dept from 18bit to 24bit just like AMOLED and IPS-LCD but still lacks view angle/contrast/brightness.

even tho when HTC announced they moved AMOLED to sony's S-LCD... that S-LCD is owned by samsung and using samsung electronic's facility in korea.
S-LCD - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

if s-lcd is really better than HD SAMOLED, samsung would be the first one to use it.

So, I flashed the leaked radio and also the 4.0.3 bootloader since some have reported improvement with signal stability with it. Since the flash, I haven't had a single *prolonged* signal dropout.

However, I did leave my phone unattended today for about 6 hours and it dropped data, but not voice, for at least two hours. I went into airplane mode, but couldn't get it out. After a power cycle it was fine. That is until I made a call, which it dropped after a few minutes.

New radios and possibly the 4.0.3 bootloader improve things, but there are still significant issues.

Clearly there are some bad batches of phones out there because I have absolutely NO issues whatsoever. I mean none. In fact now that I've had the phone 6 days shy of a month, it is getting better by the day. I think this phone honestly just needed to be "broken in" for lack of a better term.

No issues here either
