So the HTC One M8 has been released for more than a month. How is everyone feeling about it?

So far, it seems OK. I like the size, front facing speakers and solid construction and it's fast. I know I have a lot to learn but I'll get there.

There are some weaknesses, or rather challenges that I need to figure out.
The M8 does not play nice with Sync with MyFord in either of my 2 Ford vehicles which makes it useless for the Bluetooth audio functions that I'm accustomed to use.
I need to figure out how to allow use of location for some apps but deny it to others.
On a subjective note, I prefer the sound of my old iPhone through headphones.

Currently an iPhone 5S user, seriously considering coming back to the Android world for this device. Seems to be top notch right now.

It's a great phone, but for me, the screen is too long and not wide enough, very weird. Speakers way better than my G2, but about the same as my Lumia 1520. Motion gestures, too touchy for me, everytime I pulled it out of my pocket it was doing something, turned them off. This is just me, but I really, really miss my G2, and do regret paying full retail at launch, I really think that the G3 will be in a class of it's own. I also had the M7, and it seems this is only a marginal upgrade from that.

That's what I just did. Definitely worth it. The iPhone is a good device but just too many limitations for me.

Greatest phone I've ever owned. The speed and battery life alone are features that will keep me happy. But, good looks can't hurt. ;)

I was offered to renew my contract 7 months early, so decided to go with the M8 from my previous Note 2. I knew quite a bit about it from reading tech news, but never actually intended by get one. Man I have been surprised. I am in love with this phone.

The build quality is not over-hyped as I originally thought, it's just beautiful.
HTC Sense is significantly better than Touchwiz will ever be. And I actually prefer Sense 6 aesthetically and functionally over CM11 and stock android, which I had on my Rooted Note 2. It has just the right amount of added useful features, while staying close to stock android. Transferring everything from my Note to the M8 was mind blowingly easy with the built in transfer app, I am just amazed at how simple and comprehensive it was. I have already had a software update from HTC only 1 week into owning the device, which added Extreme power saving, better performance, better camera optimization and a lot more. That's more than Samsung ever did for me in 1.5 years.

The phone flies, no lag anywhere ever. The 46ms screen input latency (lower than any phone on the market) just makes it feel even faster. 8 Second boot up time, instead of 25 second boot up time on the Note 2, you get the idea, it's fast.

The speakers, are obviously amazing. And the camera... surprisingly good! I have some beautiful photos from this camera. Some have bad dynamic range, but 80% of them are actually really good. I'm content with the camera and the phone all around. 0 regrets here.

But I thought the M8 was perfect?

Let's be real for a sec. First off, most people will defend their choice of phones to the death, even if it is less than perfect. People don't want to admit they made a mistake. That's OK, it's human nature. Did anyone really expect responses in this thread to be- "it sucks", "worst phone ever", etc..... Of course people think it's great, just like people in the S5 forums love their phone, just like people in Nexus 5 forums love their phone. Of course you're going to get 99% positive feedback.

It's like going to a hardcore linux forum and asking "do you like linux?". Duh. No one wants to admit the choices they make are maybe not so perfect. But anyway, enjoy!

True, however. No phone is perfect, period. And, the opinions mentioned here are backed up by the reviews of this phone.

One of the most intelligent posts that I have read since joining. I tried the M8 and it was too long, too slippery and the camera just isn't up to par. I tried the S5 and it feels cheap, touchwiz is terrible and something else just doesn't feel right. Don't know what but it feels fragile. So I am back to my Moto X as my android unit, I also own a iPhone 5S. Wow, the Moto X is like a breath of fresh air. If the M8 and S5 are examples of what 2014 is then 2014 has not progressed much more than 2013. Looking forward to the upcoming Moto X and the G3. I will try them both.

All of the people I know that have a Moto X rave about it. It is the one phone that I have regretted not getting. Maybe when the new one comes out I will pull the trigger. But it will be difficult for me not going with the next edition in the Note line. I think that the M8 is a beautiful phone. I have tried it out in the the stores and it does seem super fast. I think that the reviews about the camera scared me off from it. The other reason that I didn't pick it up was because of the screen. I would much rather have a super AMOLED screen.

Sent from my Note 3. It has a pen😉

Oh I agree. I have never had a phone that felt better in the hand then a moto x. I forgot how nice this thing was. The m8 felt great in the store but in the real world it's just too long and heavy. Nice phone but for me it is not a good size and weight for real world use.

I will admit I am pleased. It took a while to adjust to the height of the device, but between muscle memory adjusting and making a few changes to Nova, I am getting along fine with it. Like another post said, I wish I could have the Moto cell radios in it.

Almost returned mine due to the size, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I like the camera, battery, and overall feel of the phone too much.

Htc quality control sucks..found a dead pixel near the home button, one deep scratch on the back, the plastic covering the bottom speaker is slightly elevated from the screen, 44.5℃ when charging..all in a brand new htc one m8..

Every company has at least some bad units. Take yours back and get a new one :)

Battery life was terrible at first but I did some calibration trick and I've been getting a day easily out of it. Reception has been pretty hit or miss but I'm not sure if its the phones fault or Sprints network. Had the N4 on Tmo and never had call issues

What did you do for calibration?
