Sprint HTC One: KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

I would be really surprised if they turn around and drop a different/updated version on the 11th when they start of the official push. It would again have to be re-certified, etc. which I can't see happening in this short time frame.

Sure I could be wrong but odds are it will be the same thing.

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

So we are stuck with a lock screen even though I have it turned off? Great update lol.

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

I'm guessing the option to not turn off lock screen has to do with more security to the device.

I've always used one so its not a big deal to me.

Makes sense. I'll try the reset. Thanks for all of your help!

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

I just don't know why so many are thinking that this update was an error and that the new and revised update will drop on the 11th..? In htc.com as well as HTCs twitter account they stated that Sprint HTC One is Kit-Kat complete and Sprint was the first carrier to receive the update....??...???
I'm I missing something?

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

Overall I'm happy with it and can live with the lock screen as that is the only drawback I see. All the other changes are great in my opinion.

Not missing anything. There have been a few people post saying that, but I have seen nothing from Sprint or HTC stating it. It think it started because Sprint (as published on this site) stating the update was available, but no one could get it for several hours.

Hey. I'm in the process of doing the reset now, but I how will this affect my calendar? Currently all of my entires are under HTC Sync manager (Outlook). Will I lose these entries if I do the factory reset? I use the Google Calendar.

you will not lose your entries if you use google calendar as they are all in the cloud.

when you set up your google account again it will sync them all back to your phone.

Are you positive? None of the entries are actually through google. I'm just using the app.

which account do you have active in your calendar app?

you can check this by going to your calendar options > accounts.

additionally, if you try to create a new entry it should say "google" at the top if your google account is active.

there is one easy way to check this, though. go to your online google calendar using your browser. if your entries are all there you will get them back.

It was under my HTC sync manager, whatever that is... I did the reset, and lost everything :(

do you have these entries on your computer?

you might be able to restore them using the htc sync manager.

if you've made a backup (or check if the phone did that for you), go to your phone's settings > backup & reset. see if you can restore via an htc backup. this will not invalidate your recent factory reset as it will just bring back your contacts, settings, app data and so forth.

The lock screen is pretty annoying. Maybe its more the fact they removed the previous functionality.

That's greyed out. I have no idea how to get it back... I just know the top of the entries used to say "HTC sync manager" instead of Google or Yahoo, etc.

do you have a *Last backup* date though?

if you do, there is a workaround for the greyed out bug. if you don't, there is nothing to be gained from it.

No it doesn't... I don't even know how to log into the HTC account that was under. Damn.

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

I've had this for about a day. So far...
Pros:
- (Altered) Emojis are available in the stock messaging app.
- The UI is a lot smoother.
- The option to see battery percentage is available
- You can turn off the blinkfeed!

Cons:
- My battery life is absolutely AWFUL.
- WiFi comes on by itself, even when it's turned off.
- The lock screen is stuck and cannot be removed even when selected to do so.
- The music player UI has changed so that you cannot swipe the album art to change songs. Instead it goes to the visualizer.
- Did I mention how awful my battery life is?

I hope Sprint fixes this by the 11th...

Option to see Battery Percentage was in the 4.3 update... And my battery life has came up by 10-15% at least. You need to delete something because everyone else says it has gotten better.
