Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - Candy coated goodness.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

This is my guess. Especially since no phone on Sprint that has Spark is on 4.4.

It's a possibility, but from what I've read on Sprint's forums it is more based on problems they had with devices after the Samsung rollout. They're trying to correct them prior to rolling KK out to the G2.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

This is a quote from Sprint care. Now it's because of Spark.

G2user65, Thanks for the reply. The manufacturer pushes out the update.* The LG G2 on Sprint is a triband device so the functionality and configurations of an updated operating system will be engineered quite differently for Sprint than it will be on other carriers. Thank You, Sprint Social Care Team Michael C.

Very interesting.
It's so crazy, it just might work. ;)
It does make sense, in a weird technological way.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

I figure this is the best place to post this. When I had my Galaxy S2 I would reformat the phone whenever an update came out. I did this to try to get a nice "clean install" because I had a couple issues updating without a format. Since I've only had the G2 for about a month, I don't know if this is a problem with this phone. Would anyone recommend a reformat before the KitKat update?

You can if of you want, but you shouldn't have to. 9 out of 10 times when this happens it's because of an app, and since kk been out awhile now devs have had enough time to work out kinks.

I've heard the same thing. The phones would not take calls from what I've heard. And Wi-Fi would not work either.

Okay...now the reps over on the Sprint forum board are saying KITKAT has been released for their models of the G2. I don't believe it though.

They have said it's been released and not released in the same thread.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

All front line employees (e-chat, phone agents, store reps, etc) don't have any advanced knowledge of when a software update is coming out. We don't get alerted until about a software update coming out until the day it starts pushing out, and even then it's not specifically pointed out that it's happening. It just goes in with the rest of the days news. I really did wish we had a way to get info about software updates, more and more people are asking about them and are more aware of software versions and whatnot these days. I'm talking to more and more customers who want to know about software updates.

My guess is Spark is delaying it. Yeah, we don't want a repeat of all the issues that came along with the Samsung updates but that we more Samsung's doing and issues with the 4.3 update were pretty major across the carriers. Spark though seems to be an issue with LG phones. The Nexus 5 hasn't even gotten it's Spark update, likely due to the issues with the G2 update. For whatever reason LTE connectivity and battery issues hit hard with the G2 Spark update. My phone has had nothing but issues with that since the Spark update. The S4 Spark got it's 4.4 update though, so it just looks like there might be an LG issue to work out.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

I agree with what you're saying for sure. Spark is more than likely the reason for the delay. The scuttlebutt now is that it will be pushed out the first of April. I hate waiting that long, but I would rather wait for it and it work than have it and it ruin my phone.

I think what gets people frustrated is there's two threads over on the Sprint Community Forums with conflicting answers. On both forums, Sprint Care reps say KitKat is pushing in waves and someone else says it hasn't been released yet. I've asked why it's so inconsistent with no reply. I just wish they would tell us what is going on, even if the update is delayed to get it working with Spark.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

I guess I don't understand. It works this way with EVERY update. Sprint will not say anything until the update has been released. People continually badger reps, store employees, etc. asking about the update. Eventually someone says some rumor that they've heard, someone else takes it as the truth, and suddenly Sprint is the bad guy.

This happens EVERY time!!

Yes, we're all anxious for the release and it WILL come. If people would just realize that no one will know for sure until it is officially announced and quit believing what their girlfriend's brother's best friend's mother-in-law said she heard from the pool boy, we can all just sit back and wait. And read threads like this for amusement value only.

I haven't asked Sprint about the update and I'm willing to wait. But, this seems to be the most disorganized information for an update. Every rep has a different answer. And that's a poor attempt at customer service.

I don't know.
I hear that pool boy has his shizznit straight. :p

But seriously folks, we all need to take a chill pill.
As has been stated, I would rather it be a few extra days to wait than to get an update that will cause more problems than it corrects.

I agree that every rep has a different answer, they should all have the same answer: "We currently have no news to report on an update. We're sorry, but you will have to wait until the update is officially announced."

The problem is that people keep asking, and normal nature is to try to be helpful. Until Sprint tells everyone to provide the same answer regardless of the situation, this will continue.

As for being the most disorganized, I would say no, just as disorganized as the last time, and the time before that, and the time before that...

https://community.sprint.com/baw/mo...ssion?content=/api/core/v2/discussions/152262

"There is no confirmed release date."

"We need an update from Google and LG before we can release it."

"I have checked and the update is not available."

"The KitKat update is in fact coming out in waves."

"We have not started as we don't have any official information that we have for our customers."

This is getting fun to watch. I understand that the reps are trying to be helpful, but the answers are all over the place and poorly written.
