Awsome. So if i flash the deodexed/prerooted/zipaligned version of EB13 and have the official froyo. Than i will be able to flash the official froyo ROMS that you guys release? and ill finally be able to overclock my phone with froyo?
You will have to wait for official EB13 ROMS to be released.

Once they have custom kernels made up to support overclocking then yes!!

Bottom line next week is going to great for all of you and its going to be working overtime for us here at Android Central keeping up with all the changes and new releases. Be patient.. PLEASE.. LOL!

Well this is great news to hear today. Was quite glad that speculation for the 21st could be put to rest after the info was released officially from Samsung and Sprint.

Im sorry to beat a dead horse here but just wanted to clarify something, my plan is to wait until the the tar file is out and odin to my phone, which I can do even though I am on dk28 because it will wipe my phone and complete a clean install of the new EB13, correct? Also, once this is done which method would I use to root my phone so that I can pull in my contacts since my backup is only available to root users?

I won't say it officially but I would think that on Monday that the Sprint retail stores will be able to load Froyo on your phone. Usually the techs get the software when its released to manually update phones.

Correct

We will have to wait until they figure it out. Could be the same methods as before or there could be changes. TBA.

i have stock Epic and only rooted it so i can have Roam Control, WiFi Tethering and PdaNet....

i will wait for the OTA update at some point Monday+

can you just confirm....once that comes over....i understand that i wont lose any of my apps, regular and rooted types (above)...

i will just have to wait for new root instructions?

thanks!

So apparently Samsung is reaching out to the developers on XDA boards, looking to work together to help repair Samsung's image and to help support their products in the future. I think that's awesome and something no other manufacturer has ever done to my knowledge

What thread are you referring to?

And I've never owned one of their products, but I understand that Palm has done this in the past.

ptfdmedic mentioned it in his midNIGHT ROM thread, pg 132
Yes I did see something in the EB13 source code thread or related over at XDA. ptfdmedic did mention something about Sammy reaching out to XDA developers and that we should take this as a great thing and not ruin the opportunity (something to that effect).

How true all this is ? I think only the people at XDA know... My question is if this is true why did it take so long for it to happen? Heck they have had DK28 running pretty solid since about 2 weeks after its leaked release in early Dec.

Just a bit of FYI for all you rooters and custom ROM flashers out there make sure you take precautions over the next day to get your information backed up on SD Card or MybackUp/Titanium Backup if you plan on upgrading once EB13 is released. Even ROMs, addons, themes, etc. grab a backup of them and save them, you never know what you may need down the road or be able to still use once the fog clears and we see what we need to get rooted again and running ROMs.

For everyone else going from stock Eclair to EB13 Froyo, same thing.. Make sure you contacts/gmail/calendars etc. are sync'ed with your Google account just incase something goes south on the upgrade which it shouldn't.

Everyone: Have a nice fully charged battery ready for when the update comes, however you choose to do it... OTA/manual/Odin. Nothing worse than having a near dead battery and can't finish an update.. Just a word of advice I did a complete reinstall the other day and by the time I redownloaded apps and all I sucked down 30-40% of my battery so be prepared.

Remember the update will not effect anything on your SD cards so anything there is SAFE.

Can't wait for Monday, its going to be crazy around here so please try and search out those questions you may have for answers in this thread once things start rolling on Monday to cut down on repeated posts/questions...

Thanks everyone!

Quick question: Im on stock eclair Epic, but i have it rooted(not the z4 root but a version before z4). Will I have to unroot and then update to froyo? or will the OTA update be smooth even though im rooted?

I talked to one of the Spirnt techs at a Spirnt store and the stores should have Froyo to manually update your phone on Monday too. If you are concerned about getting your phone updated I would suggest going into a Sprint Store to get the update.

I'm still a bit confused with this. I flashed to DK28 a couple of weeks ago, so when this update hits, if I read correctly, people here will post a file that i can use Odin to flash onto my phone right? Or will I have to go back to eclair and do a manual update to put EB13 on?

TBD. New phones come with EB13, so there will be a file for this, and present and older phones came with Android 2.1, so there will also be a file for these phones.

Once one of is sees the update and takes the file and uploads it, we'll have access to it via androidcentral.com or xda. The same goes for the full android OS on a file, for odin installs.

Odin doesn't care what software your phone has on it - you can flash straight to Froyo EB18, no matter what your setup.
