I flashed my epic to stock with odin twice to make sure everything is nice and clean :) I know we can update manually but for me getting the (long awaited official) froyo by OTA is more exciting. Can't wait! :)

Went to sprint yesterday and talked to the rep there. I asked him if the 2.2 update was going to include sprint ID. He said from all the data they were given about the new features, Sprint ID wasn't on the list.

I hope that is true....

Well shoot i am getting all hot and bothered reading this... I will just use the update.zip method...

For those of us with Epics on boost mobile, we will have to wait for a flashable zip or just use a .tar file in Odin which is what I plan on doing. That .tar file on the Samsung site is not a full Odin flashable eb13 correct?

Will Samsung have the official release available to DL on their website right away or am I just going to be stuck waiting until someone releases an update.zip file that I can flash from stock recovery after I Odin back to DL18?

I'm pretty sure Samsung does not offer an update avenue besides OTA. But not to worry - we'll post the update.zip and Odin .tar files with plenty of mirrors for you guys.

Oh God, my sis in law has a Samsung Transform with that Sprint ID on it. I hope that that schtuff isn't on the Epic either.

Thanks Ragnarokx. I really don't want to have to go all the way to stock Eclair just to receive an OTA upgrade. I'd rather flash the zip myself. :D:D

I flashed back to 2.1 a couple of days ago. Rooted and deleted some apps. I'm going to flash back without the root later tonight. Just incase I get that ota which I'm never lucky of getting. I'll be at work all day.

When do we think the tar file will be available? Would 12:01am be considered update time? Lol.

Any idea if the update is going to fix the 'Network Error' message? I've been getting this error almost every day, and it happens as soon as I unlock the phone. Yesterday, it came up when I turned my phone on and would not go away. I had to turn the phone off and back on again.

Would be nice if I can restart my phone and not go from 86% battery to 40.
I wouldn't expect miracles here. I really don't expect things to be that much different from what we saw on Froyo DK28. Maybe a few slight improvements behind the scenes sorta speak but I think what we saw in DK28 is going to be really close to what we get in EB13.. Just a guess.. Maybe Sammy will prove me wrong..

I'd have to agree with that. I think its going to b exactly the same but work smoother. And by work smoothr I mean in comparison as to how 2.1 worked after the latest service update. Wow, how long has that been. Hmm.

holy cow, i just experienced this today for the first time in having phone for 5mos now!!!

was at 80%, restarted it and dropped batt to 27%!

hoping just a bug and not defective phone and/or battery....

stock Epic rooted only...

cmonnnnnnn... 2.2

I do notice when this happens that the battery last just as long as would before. Charges quicker too. If you reboot a few more times it will read close to what was, sometimes.

Had this problem on dk28 and custom roms as well.

OK I'm a noob here. I zipped my phone back to stock I think. This is what I have: Firmware version 2.1 update 1. My build is eclair.DI07 but my baseband says dk28. Am I going to get the OTA update?

I tried to ODIN last night (for about 6 hours). Odin read my phone when I wasn't in download mode. When I did the 1 and power button, Odin stopped reading my phone.

I just want to know if I'm getting the OTA update

Sounds like something didn't take when you used Odin. I would follow the steps again provided in the [How to] Factory Restore (or Fix a Bricked Phone) thread and if that doesn't work you could try using Hemdall which is also in that same thread. With your baseband reading DK28 I would say your not going to receive the OTA update.

You have another option of waiting for the manual "update.zip" method to update to official Froyo.

Which drivers did you use? I couldn't get it to work with 64 bit. Had to use 32.

Didn't need the pit. Dropped the md5. Just kept doing it toll it went through. First time on a computer battery pull and computer reboot. Just kept doing it till it went through. It always works after a few tries. The reboot I think is because of the driver installation. Seems to happen when I user a different computer I never used before.

Next question, do I have to have this phone rooted? I didn't use Odin to get DK28 I did it the other way.

Sounds like Odin is working for you. I would add the .pit file and run it again. That could very well be what is holding back changing the baseband #'s. The phone will automatically reboot when its completed its process with Odin. Driver speaking whatever works, 32/64... No root is required to use Odin.

Odin reads my phone when I'm NOT in download mode. Should just run the update anyway when I'm not in Download mode?

@citiz, it won't work to my knowledge you have to be in download mode for Odin to work properly.

Question: Boot into download mode, then open Odin on your computer. Then connect your phone. If your connecting your phone before opening Odin that could be why its not recognizing phone.

Remember you always have the option of waiting for the update.zip method to get official Froyo.
