well I've done the froyo 2.2.1 update through all 3 methods... I also used Odin to put Eclair back on my phone I still got the camera error. I followed the step by step instructions to do that. Paul told me about the Genocide Kernel which sounds awesome and I'd be willing to try to put it on my Epic. I heard some folks in the XDA forum say they were flashing using CWM, I had to research what that even stood for. And so when I download the app for CWM Rom Manager I got that error message. I am not sure if I rooted or not, but I've interested in learning. I just need some step by step instructions. I am a noob.
You need to make sure your rooted before you install CWM. If you are using ROM Manager then just stop right there.. ROM Manager doesn't support most of the ROMs we run and is also doesn't support the same CWM2 and CWM3 we use.
The below method will give you root and install CWM 2.5.1.0 and give you the option to continue further and get CWM3.0.0.6 EXT/4 if you want.
[Root] Samsung Epic 4G Official Froyo EB13 w/Optional EXT4
If you have used Odin then maybe your willing to come a bit further and try the link below and use Odin and get everything done for you all in one package/one installation.
Froyo EB13 Pre-Rooted, Deodexed, with Clockwork - RFS & EXT4
If you looking to just root and install some minor themes or a kernel then go with the CWM2/RFS setup. If you think you maybe interested in running ROMs then you may want to consider going the full boat and grabbing the CWM3.0.0.6/EXT4 setup.
