well I've done the froyo 2.2.1 update through all 3 methods... I also used Odin to put Eclair back on my phone I still got the camera error. I followed the step by step instructions to do that. Paul told me about the Genocide Kernel which sounds awesome and I'd be willing to try to put it on my Epic. I heard some folks in the XDA forum say they were flashing using CWM, I had to research what that even stood for. And so when I download the app for CWM Rom Manager I got that error message. I am not sure if I rooted or not, but I've interested in learning. I just need some step by step instructions. I am a noob.

You need to make sure your rooted before you install CWM. If you are using ROM Manager then just stop right there.. ROM Manager doesn't support most of the ROMs we run and is also doesn't support the same CWM2 and CWM3 we use.

The below method will give you root and install CWM 2.5.1.0 and give you the option to continue further and get CWM3.0.0.6 EXT/4 if you want.

[Root] Samsung Epic 4G Official Froyo EB13 w/Optional EXT4

If you have used Odin then maybe your willing to come a bit further and try the link below and use Odin and get everything done for you all in one package/one installation.

Froyo EB13 Pre-Rooted, Deodexed, with Clockwork - RFS & EXT4

If you looking to just root and install some minor themes or a kernel then go with the CWM2/RFS setup. If you think you maybe interested in running ROMs then you may want to consider going the full boat and grabbing the CWM3.0.0.6/EXT4 setup.

The wallpapers, I'm not sure who came up with that one.. LOL.. Yes I did post it but that was also from leaked Froyo DK28 and even then we didn't really have no new cool wallpapers.

I must be going blind, because I can't read the rest of what's listed for the update. Any fixes?

I just looked up what Sprint ID actually is....man what a waste of life.
Let's MAKE people do something most already do by making it worthless and unneeded. Bravo Sprint.

What does this update mean to EC05 Froyo? Besides wondering if they resolved the issues at hand this mean I have to convert my ACE ROM!!!!!! Argggghhh!

LOL I was just thinking to myself...how inconvenient for all the devs they finally iron out all the kinks from EB13 and started moving forward on some pretty amazing modifications and BAM! its back to square one.

Just rooted and converted my sisters Epic to ext4, now I have to start over... wth.

They aren't making you do anything. You have the option of installing a "clean" ID pack and starting from scratch. The "clean" ID pack doesn't even have the bloatware...at least not with my experience with the previous Sprint ID model phones.

Sprint ID is just an option for those who don't feel like looking thru the Market for apps. It makes it easier by installing a blanket that caters to your interests and provides apps, wallpapers and ringtones for that interest.

I'm not a fan of it and won't be using it but its not the end if the world.

Start over? Nah. This time I'm just gonna see how it goes and wait for the inevitable fan made ROM's that fix whatever issues Samsung left on EC05.

I will be on a cruise starting on 3/20 to 3/27 in the Caribbean will I be able to get the update?

Sprint ID sounds like they want to make android easy to use and puts apps and features in for people already... I myself wouldn't stay with it but would like to see how it works.. I know for my wife it would be a good feature for her on her next phone... What i don't understand is how some people will put something down that may or may not be for them even if the idea of it is a very good 1.. IMO...

Hopefully this one will go smoother than EB13. I'm thinking perhaps the eb13 was just a stop gap to quiet the many complaining voices until the real update was finished. To me EB13 didn't seem like a finished product. I guess we will see starting Monday. I hope they push it to the phones that missed the first update first.
