The 6p is hands down the best phone ever made!

What I learnt on this thread: If you have kids, don't get 6P. If you don't (like me), it's the best phone ATM. Also, @Leo Rex should change his name to Leo Rex Zen. The man makes the most logical and sane points, and commands respect. Another fave on AC is Girl Interrupted.

Two things....

1) Thank you for your kind words....

2) So it is with a heavy heart I have to contradict your other statement.... :) I have two young kids and I've not found any problems with a lack of OIS. Like cane said, OIS is only good for camera shake. If the subject is in motion, shutter speed and latency is king. I've had some pics with blur, but in conditions where I would have seen that with other phones. The 6P does have the advantage of the larger sensor, so it should have quicker exposure times than the smaller sensors in others. I know that some ad-hoc checks, a daytime shot with a more traditional sensor might be around 1/700 whereas my 6P was 1/1100 or so.... But that's not the entire story, the speed of the app you use is a big factor as well (aka shutter latency)... and the Google Camera is still a wee bit more deliberate than others. But that's a problem easily solved by using another app. Again, I have, as yet, run into an issue.

Though, one trick that I have yet to really test out is to use Burst Shot for scenes with a lot of action in them. I used it when I had my G3 and it took really good action photos.. granted, it came at the expense of exposure, so light was always key. I haven't had a chance to try that out quite yet on the 6P.... but I will soon as I am going on vacation to the House o' Mouse... and that's as demanding a crucible for a camera as you are going to get. :) I'm curious to see how BS performs.... My gold standard is still this still from a burst shot of my son I took two years ago, and the frames were ripped off at a 1/961s clip. Now, the 6P's sensor is easily capable of not only getting a shot this quick, it should be capable of also getting a shot that has a bit brighter exposure... the big question that I have is if the software will crank the shots off that quick (basically 1ms or less). If it rip off bursts that fast, then physics should handle the rest.

I have kids and a 6p, no problems at all. It's all about having the right tool for the job, and if I know I'm gonna be at an event or function that I'll be taking video or a lot of pictures, I bring the necessary device.

And even phones that have OIS, Samsung and LG included, none of them take great pictures/video of moving objects. Better than the 6p? Definitely. But not better than a DSLR or camcorder.

Agree with OP. The 6P gets everything right on many levels, from performance to battery life to ease of use.

I wish it was slightly smaller but still would not give this phone up for anything.
