"The Android Update Trap"

Are you sure it wasn't a hardware problem? This is the first I've heard of a mm update bricking a phone.

I don't think so. The phone functioned again after doing a factory reset. Immediately after the MM update, i was bombarded with an error message that would launch consecutively, and interfered with accessing any apps. I spoke with T-Mo tech support who suggested that I had to factory reset. I didn't see any other option. I couldn't get into the settings app to clear the cache. The phone's fine now after the annoyance of the reset.
