The LG G3 has arrived :-)

Re: ROM Android Now :-)

Bare in mind that my TWRP is themed, but you still should have an option to Restart, then select system :-)

G3 6 months in :-)

So now that all the Flagships have been released and one still pending.

What is your verdict 6 months in?

For me personally its been interesting to see all the tech and flagships and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Which leads nicely onto the G3 and 6 months in, Lg in terms of keeping up with market demands Lg have done exceedingly well.

We were treated with QHD resolution and yes arguably is there a gulf in difference? No there isn't but the screen is gorgeous. The rest of the specs are great and provide a great user experience. That said some have had minor to major issue's and yes like on any device unfortunately this happens.

The G3 is certainly up there as a complete package and one thing I like about Lg is the boldness in keeping the rear keys (it just works though). Not all will enjoy this but to separate from the pack is a great thing.

All OEM's offer different variations in software and design and there is a flagship to please us all. But some may not enjoy what Android handsets have offered and for that there comes Apple lol

Seriously though the G3 is great then and its still great now and will still be great for those locked into a 2 year contact.

This is my brief 6 months in summary lol

Well I'll tell you this Duncs, if the G3 and the Note 4 had both come out together now, instead of the former being months in advance of the latter and of practically all other QHD decices, I'd choose the G3. Nothing against the N4, obviously a superb device, but if you don't need the latest processor etc I see little advantage. Comparing the two side by side in a store I could not see VERY much difference between them on the surface, and what's under the surface is not enough to justify the much higher price of the N4 for me personally. Same really comparing with other devices.
Nope, my G3 and I are going to be together for a long time....unless one of us dies in fact, heh heh.

Belodion like me you have a couple of screws and washers loose but dam is it good to have a Sense of humour, rather than being equal on all sides lol

Your humour like mine is, I would guess your into Monty Python? and the "always look on the bright side of death" haha...

Anyway yes like you although Note 4 is on order (Comparison reasons :-P) and its a great device. The G3 & others oppo and one plus, M8 ect all have good points and going back to the G3 for most the performance and features are great..

Re: G3 6 months in :-)

I was thinking after I posted the above, there's nothing about the G3 I dislike, tho' a Lumia 1020 camera or similar on it would be wonderful.
M. Python? Yes. And sometimes when members ask, as they often do here and there in the forums, Should I upgrade to a such-and-such device or wait until so-and-so comes out, my inclination is to answer, in all seriousness, Don't wait, you might drop dead tomorrow...buy now. But I'm not persuaded that it would go down very well, though true.

I haven't had experience with the 1020 but reviews watched "the optics are Fantastic".

That said the camera on the G3 is great and takes some nice shots but yes would have been the finishing touch to have that Belodion.

We won't complain though and " live for the moment" as tomorrow isn't promised. So yes if you have the finances and would like X device just purchase :-)

No point of beating around the bush, tell it as is....lol

Did you try the S pen? If not then that's why. The Note is defined by its S pen.. Which makes it different than the others. I love the S pen since it helps on the forums when I can draw on screenshots... I also love snipping things from websites so I can send them easily.. But those are my needs and not everyone could find use for it.

Otherwise without the S pen you're right.. Not much difference.

This is the reason why I'm picking up the Note 4, I love Note (II) series so much I bought two but wished Samsung kept the size at 5.5". Size and LG's UI is the reason why the G3 is my Super Phone of the Year!

Apple and nexus (Motorola) would've been strong contenders if they both went with 5.2".

My G3's camera is decent as far as phones go, but yeah, I recently got a 1020. Very impressed, it will be tough to settle for another phone's camera again.

The S pen is indeed an attractive feature....I didn't try it because there wasn't one on the store demo model. The layout of the screen navigation buttons are offputting for me, as well....going bottom right instead of bottom left for Back....and the £650 price tag doesn't help. Also I'm thinking of buying a Lumia 1520.

Exactly how it is for me.

Re: G3 6 months in :-)

I absolutely love my G3. I will keep this phone for a very long time! All the other phones coming out isn't a "OH MY GOD! MUST HAVE!". I don't have any issues with my phone (lag/over heating) that people always seem to pick at. I personally think the G3 is a solid packed phone.

Re: ROM Android Now :-)

luckily i managed to get it back... its back to stock and lost all files. but its better than a stuffed phone...

when i installed the rom which i thought was correct...it does say 32gb but only 2g ram... i don't see how that is possible? i have the international 32gb and 3g version....

is there a link to the correct stock rom? also... if i go to update centre it says no updates even though I'm on V10a

You can find the latest kdz if you search for it dude and then flash that :-)

Sorry to hear that TWRP didn't work but I presume you flashed the wrong file that wasn't compatible with your variant?

Re: G3 6 months in :-)

I'm happy with the G3, now that's it rooted and tweaked to eliminate the lag that it started with. No the lag wasn't horrible, but it was definitely there.

But is it head and shoulders above everything else? No. All the flagships are excellent, and all have flaws. They all have basically the same hardware with minor differences here and there. Yes, I consider the QuadHD screen minor, because you really can't see the difference. The difference between an 801 and 805 is pretty minor most of the time, too.

In spite of the higher resolution, the screen on the G3 simply isn't as good as that on my son's S5. The SAMOLED screen is much easier to read in sunlight, and has a much wider viewing angle. (The G3's screen dims noticeably when viewed off angle, as when it's lying flat on a desk. The S5's doesn't.)

I'm getting used to the rear buttons, but I'm still not completely sold on them. Fortunately, I don't have to actually use them very often.

But I like having a removable back and battery and SD card support (unlike Moto and Nexus), and it looks and feels way better than the Samsung phones. And while it's as big as the HTC One, at least all the space is used, and not filled with wasted black space.

So if I were going to buy today, I'm pretty sure I'd stil choose the G3. Nexus 6 and Note 4 are just too big, Moto X and HTC One don't have a removable battery., I also hate the huge bezels and black space on the One, and couldn't care less that it's metal and has front facing speakers. The S5 is too ugly. If I were to choose something else, though, it would probably be the S5 just for it's screen.

For the most part how often do you look at the G3 off axis?

Percentage?

I know I'm 99.9% head on, i personally don't find it terrible but even if it were a bit off .1% annoyance I would easily live with lol

There is no disputing Samoled screens have the resolution that goes pop. However I appreciate both and the softer tones of the LG are a bit easier on the eyes.

Glad to see some pros & cons though as every device has them and the G3 is no exemption.

Re: G3 6 months in :-)

Is it just me or does anyone notice that the G3 has only been out since July 1st (at the earliest).... So, it has only been 3 months for most people... yet this title says 6 months in? It would have had to be released in April and it was announced then... not released... 0.0

Re: G3 6 months in :-)

I like this thread... I love my G3 that I picked up on its first day. I can say I've been tempted with others like the Note 4 and the iPhone 6+ but once I really think about it I end up happy with my G3. Love the rear buttons and just love the lg skin. The lg skin is what's keeping me from switching to the note 4's touch wiz. I've had all brands from ios to touch wiz and lg is the best. The only think I do look up for the G4 would be a bit brighter screen, other than that it's all good
