The LG G3 has arrived :-)

5 Reasons to buy the G3

Well I enjoy writing and perhaps some may enjoy reading :-p

1)The screen, it may be numbers and a placebo effect but I'm convinced its smoother, its great, however not so good in daylight.

2)The camera is a good one and the app is clean and minimal, and the laser autofocus works well.

3)The Design & Build is fantastic and one that I praise Lg for. They were right it didn't need to be metal or glass, they have made plastic feel pretty premium

4)One feature that I like is Knock Code for me its nifty.

5)Rear button placement is one that I didn't think I would like, but I do and they are really clicky and nice to use.

I will add that while battery life is not fantastic, considering the screen resolution it holds up OK, its not fantastic, but not poor either.

So I personally like what Lg have done with the G3.

Battery life is something I am concerned about, what has been your average?

Re: 5 Reasons to buy the G3

I second that question. I'm on the fence with waiting for the Motorola X+1 because that will have guaranteed better battery life if it comes with its rumored 2900 mAh battery.

Personally, I feel the G3 would be perfect had it stayed with the tried and true, battery friendly 1080p screen rather than being the first to have a QHD screen. I'm almost willing to just get a G2, but it's just too ugly compared to the G3.

Re: 5 Reasons to buy the G3

I do have a thread open where I posted my battery life, which was around the 4 1/2 hours of screen on time.

It was my experience with my g2 that the first few days the battery life wasn't great. It seemed to get trained after about a week of having the phone, I'm assuming the g3 will be the same. I was getting an average of 32 hrs on my g2, but only about 9 the first week or 2 I had it. Really hoping the g3 is as good as it's little brother

I worry about battery life with that qhd screen too.
But I know lg could work their magic and make it work. They've done it before.

Honestly it's not that bad, its just not as good as it should be, think a 3500mah battery would have sufficed :-)

Re: Don't use a case it has a replaceable back.

I normally don't do cases but in order to get wireless charging I may have to.

You can just buy different battery civer for ~ the same cost.

Re: Don't use a case it has a replaceable back.

Honestly, Not getting a case is almost idiotic. I get that the designs of the phone are nice, But Do you know how many people come in daily to my store with shattered screens, water damage and cracks corners. Then they have the nerve to ***** at me that warranty doesn't cover a problem that has nothing to do with their cracked screen.

This is my perspective....If the phone shows sign of physical damage, Manufacturers will NOT honor their warranty, If you get coverage through your provider, You still have to pay a deductible. If you throw a case on it, you minimize physical damage and you decrease the risk of cracking your screen. There's plenty of really nice cases that are really slim to compliment the phone.

Lastly, If you are like me and you like to get new phone more often then not, Then you will end up selling the phone and resell value matters. If the phone shows scratches, cracks and signs of heavy use, Forget getting a good amount for your phone.

Once again, I understand that design and feel is important, But without a case all that can EASILY be ruined.

Re: Don't use a case it has a replaceable back.

Well, though I don't knock anyone that doesn't use a case...I do believe that it extends the life of the hardware. Ive used cases for all of my phones and they've always been in excellent/new condition (perfect for when you are ready to upgrade). I get attractive cases that compliment both the phone and me. :)

Re: Don't use a case it has a replaceable back.

Yup, I don't hate on people with cases, just I can never see myself with a case.

Re: Don't use a case it has a replaceable back.

I find this viewpoint a bit baffling. I just bought a smartphone after resisting for years. My old phone, a cheap Nokia that I bought ten years ago, was perfect for my needs. Unfortunately I dropped it and the microphone stopped working. I probably could have gotten it fixed, but my niece insisted (she uses my phone when hers runs out of money). Obviously I'm not a digital native, although I started programming computers in 1976, before Gary Kildall went flying and the IBM guys met Bill Gates (he was already ******** about software pirates in those days). Anyway, I use my phone for making telephone calls. I figured out how to connect to the internet, but I can't imagine trying to compose email on this thing. I have a digital camera for taking pictures. I have a desktop computer for playing games. I intend to buy a tablet for reading ebooks on the road. As for design, who's going to notice it? If I've got the thing up to my ear my hand just about covers it. As I said, I don't use it for playing games, but I've been on the subway in Bangkok and seen all the people doing stuff on their cell phones and I haven't really paid attention to what they look like. Is this something like people thinking wrist watches are "fashion accessories?" I've never understood that either. I have a watch to know what time it is. As long as I can tell the time from it I don't care what it looks like and I don't think other people do either. Oh, yeah, I didn't mention -- I bought a case to keep my phone in.

Re: Don't use a case it has a replaceable back.

I don't hate people that use a case and they obviously live more of an active life than I do which would then warrant a case.

I don't ski

I don't run or jog

I don't go to the gym

I don't play football

I don't do drink alcohol (much)

So them risks are greatly reduced, which enables me to enjoy the original design.

Re: Rooting is easy.

What's the benefits of rooting at this point in time (without ROMs to Flash?).

Also what the benefit to Flashing a ROM on it? What if I want Stock Android L, will I receive OTA updates then? I'm guessing I wouldn't meaning I would need to flash every update then correct?

I'm just excited for pure Android L, I think that's my problem. :(
