The Note 8 Fingerprint Sensor works just fine for me

I love threads to try and justify something.... what next, Bixby is really not that bad !!!!!

You phone may not actually be locking. Go to settings, choose Lock Screen and Security, Secure Lock Settings, then at the top choose Secure Lock Time. See if it's set to Lock immediately with power button or when screen goes off.
You helped me tremendously here. I was having the same problem and was wondering what was going on. Thank you

I'm not justifying anything. If you don't like it, that's your personal preference. I actually expected to not like it. I was so used to Apple and where that one was. I have no problem at all with it. I have many other problems I am trying to figure out, but the fps is not one of them. It works great

thanks that was the issue

I have opposite experience. I can't get it to work and have retake the finger print several times. It just keeps telling me to put my entire finger over the sensor of which I am doing. I dislike it.

Maybe try and wash your fingers :-)

I really thought I was going to hate it because every review hates it. but I have no problems wahoo

I have to say that "Fingerprintsensorgate part 2" seems a lot like Part 1 to me :-)

You don't have to justify your thoughts on it. You expected not to like it probably because of all the negativity on it.

I have no problem with the placement of the FPS. I set it up to use both index fingers and it works perfectly every time.

Exactly. No need to justify to anyone. Whether you like it or not it comes down to persons preference. And yes I do like Bixby. It is useful. To each their own.

Something to try. Use the finger that you feel that you will use most and enter it several times (as a different finger). I did this with my right index finger and that has fixed those issues for me.

I have the N8 on order. I am coming from a N4. The FPS worked OK indoors, however while playing golf, it rarely worked. I suspect slight sweat may have been the issue. Does anyone know if the N8 works with sweaty hands?

So many reviewers blow things out of proportion. The FPS is just fine where it's located. I had no problem with it on the S8+ and not on my Note 8 either. Would it be ideal centered in the back below the camera? Of course, but it's still reachable and works very well.

I have a similar issue after paying soccer with my S8 so I would guess it would continue with the note 8. It isn't always a problem and doesn't seem to be due to moisture as I've struggled with a dry finger. I wonder if it's salt or something.

This is my first time using the finger print sensor in the rear of the phone. It is easier for me than reaching my thumb to the bottom of the phone. I also use the iris when it's more convenient

That still doesn't diminish the validity of other people's complaints. Just because you have no issues with it doesn't mean others won't have any issues with the terrible placement of the FPS.
