Hi all.

My carrier will exchange it since it's DOA. But there are not many phones left here in Denmark.
I hope to receive the new one tomorrow, and hope it will be perfect.

I once had to exchange an Sony Xperia Z1 3 times before I got an Samsung S5 instead. Hope it won't repeat. I have comunicated with another guy who has 3, with no defect, so I hope i am lucky this time.

Will let you know.

David

Good luck! I'm hoping third time is the charm for me. Even if some people think it's just aesthetics while we are in the period to be able to do returns why not?

I have the same issue I've contacted Samsung and sent them a video of it I'm hoping they don't blame me or something.
I'm new to the Note line so this has bugged me now :(
I hope it's still waterproof if so and they don't send me a replacement I'll just have to love this phone and accept it's "different".

Seems like Samsung doesn't care I got messaged back and they said it's designed this way.
Designed this way? It's shambolic

Hi! So I noticed some light leakage in the left side of my note. None on the right top or bottom though sucks I didn't noticed it before. But it's definitely noticeable at night time. Returning mine tomorrow:/

Did they give you any grief on the exchange. Mine is the same way. Leal down the entire left side.

The first return was deff stressful I kept getting transferred from agent to agent. The second time was super easy spoke with the right person first time. I'm with AT&T though, so as long as you are within your 14 days of returns you can do the exchange. The 14 day period starts from the day the phone is delivered to you. Good luck!

I almost forgot. If this is your first return they might ask you to take it to the store so a representative can take a look at it and confirm the defect. Then they'll send detailed notes to your account and make the return faster. Second time I did not have to take it to the store just over the phone. Hope it helps!

I purchased online through Best Buy so I'm gonna swing by a store on my lunch break and see if they can't do an exchange.

Hi,

Could you please share the message from Samsung regarding this issue. I have the same issue with my Note 8 and it would save me a lot of time and pain explaining that this is indeed a fault to the technicians at my local Samsung service station.

Thanks,
KK

Hey all,

I have tested four different Note 8's. Two unlocked US factory versions and two AT&T versions. Every one of them had this light leakage along both sides and a little section at the top edge, no light leakage on the bottom edge.

I think you are going to be exchanging a LOT of phones to find one that does not exhibit this, personally I don't think they exist, I think those that posted here may not be exactly sure what to look for or how to look for it.

You need to be in a dark room, then look at the edge of the Note while angling or slightly tilting the Note and you'll see it.

My S7 Edge had the same thing, I beleive it's the reflection of light due to the curved display. The phone is still water resistant and all.

Well you can put me in the don't know what I'm looking for or how to look at it category since I don't have this problem

Same here. Funny how some assume we don't know what we doing cause ours doesn't have it and our must be the defective ones lol. Yeah if all 4 sides of my phone are perfectly sealed with no light leakage it must be defective right? Smh.

Okay so it's settled some Note 8s have it and some definitely don't have it. Some fast production from Samsung maybe? Who knows? Lol I wouldn't care so much about it if I wasn't so picky and perfectionist tbh. And I guess I'm not alone w this lil problem -.- but sorry to the rest I feel for you I'm bothered with myself for being this way lol there are diffinitely more positives to this phone.

Hi.

I got mine exchanged. Live in Denmark. The new device have a very small light leak from both sides, but I really have too look hard to find it. It's ok, and much better than the first unit I had, where it was only left side and very noticeable. Samsung are correct that the light come from the edges of the glass. It seems the edges are not coated black and therefore transmit the light from the display out to the edge.

Hi guys,
I didn't mean to make it sound like you don't know what your doing. Its just that there are some that might not know what to look at or where exactly. All I do know is that officially now I have seen at least a dozen Note 8's and every single one has been consistent in light leak along the two sides.

It's all good. And I apologize. I jumped the gun I'm sure lol. I understand what you saying. Guess I'm just one of the few lucky ones that don't have that. I would be drove nuts lol:D

No worries at all, I felt bad and had to respond. Even though I am not liking Samsung USA as a company I do like their phones nonetheless but we are about to throw in the towel.
